Weekend Reading 07.25.26
The blog posts have been a bit light this week because I burned myself out the week before. I have to learn to pace myself better when I drive down to the malls. I intend to keep things a bit lighter for the summer and enjoy more downtime for a bit.

Here’s an outfit I forgot to share from the Nsale. It doesn’t seem to be sold out, but the ivory is getting low in some sizes.
Bestsellers this week- what readers loved most:
- This Talbots Air Knit sweater jacket was a bestseller again this week. It comes in navy or ivory and is still on sale.
- The pretty Chico’s Soft Stretch utility jacket was very popular this week, and mine is on the way. I’m excited because I’m dabbling in a bit more color this summer. It was frequently ordered with these slim-straight jeans.
- My real Buffalo Coin necklace was a big hit! I wore mine 3 times just this week.
- Quite a few of you must have little dogs because this Lands’ End canvas dog tote carrier was very popular 🐾.. Their denim dress was also a bestseller.
- This cotton gauze shirt was very popular, as was this shirt that I have in purple.
- I mentioned the Wayfair sale, and a surprising number of readers are ahead of the pack and ordered this pretty fall wreath.
Highlights from the weekend sales:
The Nsale is still going strong with lots of things still in stock. The sale will be running until August 9. While it’s on, they have other promotions that are worth a look…the designer clearance is on with 25% – 40% off through July 26.
- This Frank & Eileen French Terry button-up is marked down in two colors. This is my favorite fabric from the brand and a great weight for fall.
- If you’re in the market for a Dutch oven for yourself or to gift, this Le Creuset is marked down in the prettiest colors.
J.Jill has an extra 40% off sale.
- This cotton gauze dress is perfect for this time of year.
- This linen collared popover shirt comes in some great colors.
Chico’s has their best sale of the season with styles starting at $19.99.
- These girlfriend flare jeans are a very flattering shape and a great alternative to wide legs, if that’s not your thing.
- I just ordered this knit denim long jacket, which will be great for covering longer tops and sweaters.
In case you missed it:
- Monday Musings on The AI Fake Women
- How to wear wide-leg pants: they’re more popular than ever!
- How to build a wardrobe for your real life.
Have a great weekend and be sure to do something that brings you joy!

Hi, Jennifer–
I didn’t think I needed another sweater of any kind, but I could use outfits like the one introducing this column. Simple to put together with just two garments, but ready for most anything. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet while I dither about the sizing. I wish there were some reviews. I am so glad you’ve told us you’re wearing a M, while Meredith the Nordstrom Stylist is wearing a S. Despite what she says, I think she needs a M as it is pulling across her chest. I am 5’3″, 115 lbs, 34D. Size chart says my 36″ bust needs a M. Maybe I order both and return one (boy, am I tired of doing that)
You may be between sizes because you’re small but well endowed. I would order both sizes 🙂
Yes, I agree that the Open Edit peplum cardigan and Paige Leena jeans make a gorgeous outfit on you!
Just for me act!—-I went forest bathing in the rain this morning in NC and it was absolutely refreshing, peaceful, calming and joyous. Our guide was my dear friend who is battling blood cancer—such an inspiration; she finds healing in the forest! (We need the rain in drought stricken NC too.). Have a great weekend, Jennifer!! Adore all of your posts and this encouraging and loving sisterhood at AWSL!!!!
I love this community too Rita and I’m so glad you’re part of it! Happy weekend.
Hi, Jennifer. I just had to order that utility jacket and matching shirt. Let’s hope it fits! I love the color and the shape. Have a restful summer. We all need to savor the weather, family, and fun times.
Bea
P.S. This past week I had a getaway in Toronto with my daughter. Loved walking the streets, browsing the museums, and eating in restaurants. I am tired but happy!
That’s sounds like fabulous trip Bea!! Nothing better than daughter time.
I love that outfit on you! So flattering! I hope you bought it!💜
Thanks! Seriously thinking about it.
Have a quiet weekend Jennifer. We all need to relax and allow our minds to heal from the chaos.
xo
Please don’t burn out! Take time to relax and cut back if that suits you. I’m a few years older than you and am finding my ambitions out way my energy levels. It’s so hard not being able to do what I used to. So working on changing my perspective.
I love the Chicos long denim jacket!!!
I’m sure working on it. I tend to be an overachiever and tire myself out but I’m trying to pace myself. Like you, my energy doesn’t match my ambitions. Have a great weekend.
Happy Saturday, Jennifer! I hope you get to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend.
Thank you.
I have a favorite news blog that comes out twice a week. I look forward to it every Tuesday and Thursday. It’s been noticeable that you’ve been burning the candle at both ends and have less time to enjoy your life. The columns I’ve liked the best are advice on how to purge our closets, how to make sense of a closet that’s too full of clothes and “nothing to wear,” your real world problems with your skin and feet, how to destress. Loved the term “forest bathing” that I learned in your column. I also first learned in your column of the acronym HSP, highly sensitive person, which I’d never heard of before but explained my extreme aversion to loud noises and need for alone time. Maybe if you cut back to publishing 2 or 3 times a week, you would have more time for yourself and for thinking about the really meaningful columns you’ve written.
Thank you so much Joy! xo
Love your blog! You must stop and embrace the season. Life is too short.
Thank you xo
The outfit you have on is so perfect! My favorite of all you have shared. Yes, you must take time to take a breath and relax a bit.
I need to! Happy Saturday.
Jennifer-
I’m often attracted to your selections from Quince. But, when I click on the link, it never takes me directly to the item. Rather, it goes to the Quince home page and I then have to enter my email before trying to find what you’re recommending. Can this be fixed to go directly to the featured item?
That doesn’t happy for me. I wonder if your browser is doing this? Anyone else having this problem?
It seems certain items are not available for Canadian or non-American clients. When I get this message I can’t find the item on my own.
Which items do you mean?
I have same problem
I’m working on it!
