5 Ways to Add Leopard to Your Outfit

Leopard print is everywhere this fall, and it’s definitely stirring up opinions—some find it irresistibly chic, while others think it’s a bit too bold. Personally, I’m all about leopard in moderation. A little goes a long way, and you can make a big style statement with just a simple leopard shoe, belt, or bag. If you’re one of those who can’t get enough of this iconic print, then this fall and winter are your time to shine. Whether you’re a leopard lover or just dipping your toes into the trend, here are five easy ways to add a touch of leopard to your outfits.

5 Ways to Add Leopard to Your Outfit

1. Leopard Top/Sweater

The easiest way to add a hint of leopard to your fall and winter outfits is with a top or sweater in this timeless print. It’s a quick style upgrade that doesn’t require much effort.

That said, I think this is one of the boldest ways to wear leopard, so if it feels a bit too much for your taste, you can always tone it down by layering it under a solid sweater or jacket. And lest you think all leopard print is orange or warm toned, the no-iron option below is a great alternative.

2. Leopard Dress

Leopard dresses are everywhere this season, but wearing one without letting it overpower you can be tricky. Pay attention to the color tones and print size to make sure they complement your complexion and frame. The key to pulling off a leopard dress is to keep the rest of your outfit simple—think neutral accessories and minimal jewelry. Similar to wearing a printed top, if a full leopard dress feels a bit too daring, you can always soften the look by layering it with a solid duster cardigan or blazer.

I love this nod to leopard that doesn’t scream animal print.

3. Leopard Shoes

If you’re looking to make a statement without committing to a full-on leopard look, shoes are the perfect choice. A leopard loafer, smoking slipper, or ballet flat has become such a staple that it almost feels like a classic these days. I find mine to be incredibly versatile since they can easily elevate a simple jeans-and-tee combo or complement a little black dress. I also find them to be the easiest way to wear leopard in a tone that is less than flattering for your complexion.

4. Leopard Bag

One of my favorite ways to add leopard print to an outfit is with a handbag. From sleek clutches to roomy totes, or even a touch of leopard can add a touch of edginess and fun to any outfit. Opt for a classic shape and let the print be the standout feature. My animal print bags have served me well for years, thanks to their timeless silhouettes and the fact that I use them sparingly.

5. Leopard Accessories

Leopard accessories offer a playful nod to the trend, letting you experiment with the print in a more subtle way. Whether you tie a leopard scarf onto your purse handle, sport some leopard earrings, or cinch your waist with a chic leopard belt, these pieces add personality to your outfit without overwhelming it.

    Hi Jennifer,
I love leopard but in small amounts like a bag of a belt of sneakers. Then again I bought Sezane’s Gio leopard top recently and it so lovely next to denim or a white/ black shirt. Love your leopard shirt! Loved your post on Victoria B.C. l had an amazing weekend there and did the sea plane back to Vancouver with my kids, a truly wonderful experience. Happy weekend xo

    1. I love traveling by sea plane!! I’m glad you had a fabulous time. Happy weekend

  2. Hi Jennifer: For some reason your Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack links don’t work for me. They just bounce back to the blog. I don’t know whether it’s me or the tech. I noticed someone else on another blog was having similar issues with Nordstroms.
Amazon for example works fine. Just an FYI. Let me know if I am doing something wrong. I have recently cleared my cache, etc.

    1. They direct people to the app, if you have the aoo, so I don’t know but I will reach out to my affiliate company. Thanks for letting me know.

  3. What a fun and inspiring post, Jennifer! That dress at Talbot’s is calling my name! 🥰

  4. I have a lovely leopard cashmere from Talbots (the Audrey style) that I bought a couple of years ago. I think that will be enough leopard for me, but I do look forward to wearing itthis fall. If it ever gets cool again here in Denver!

  5. I have a black knee length A-line dress with leopard collar, cuffs and covered buttons down the front that I’ve probably had for 25 years. I’ve kept it because it never seems to go out of style, it still fits me and I always feel good in it. I’m happy to see the trend come back and also the spot of red that you talked about. I have a red purse in my closet that I bought in Naples five years that will put me right in style!

  6. WOW, I’ve never been a fan of animal prints until I saw the purple one you shared. Purple is my jam! I’m all about color, my go to neutral is navy. There are minimal blacks/tans in my closet and no browns. I’m not a fan of fall at all so I’m pumped when I see purples in the mix of whats out there! The purple leopard print paired with the knit purple sweater Chico’s has now is stunning!

  7. Leopard print is everywhere this fall. I’d wear the grey tones, smaller print like the blouse you wore. Otherwise, it’s not for me.

I love animal print patterns and wear them often, including several pairs of shoes and accessories. Glad to see they’re “back” this season! Thanks for the recommendations, Jennifer.

  9. I love leopard but it must be cool toned and that is hard to find for this winter. Even away from my face with black spots bown leopard is blech on me and I end up not wearing it. A gray/black leopard is my jam and I’ve collected a few pieces over the years. Now that I’m salt and pepper the gray leopard is even better. The gray and soft white blouse you posted is beautiful (and perfect on you!) but I realized it’s too low contrast for me. The search continues i know you’ll let us know if you see anything good!

    1. I love soft gray leopards too, so that is my preferred shade.

  10. Love leopard prints and they seem to be everywhere this autumn.

    1. They are and it’s easy to get tired of them.
