The Best Shoes to Buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Comfortable footwear is mandatory for me, and I take every opportunity to buy the best I can while it’s on sale. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale often has great options for me, so that’s the first department I check when the sale starts. I’ve been shopping this sale for several days and watching the shoes most women are trying on so I’ve got a good idea of the best shoes to buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year.

We chat a lot about comfortable shoes here on AWSL, and you may enjoy these posts:

The Best Shoes to Buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I included a few sandals and sneakers on the list that you can wear now, as well as some great flats, loafers, and boots that will look great this fall and winter. Please note that popular sizes are selling out fast as the NSale is already open to cardholders. If you are not a cardholder, public access opens on July 15th. Without further adieu, let’s dive into the best shoes to buy from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Sandals
Munro Cleo Sandal

I’ve been wearing Munro shoes for many years, and I love their brand because they offer a large range of sizes in multiple widths. Shoes and sandals that tie or buckle securely feel more stable and comfy these days, so I thought these Cleo sandals would be the perfect combination of fashion and support. These Munro block-heeled sandals also look comfy in black or Cognac leather.
Vionic Mattie Flip-Flop

Vionic is another brand known for their comfort and arch support. This Mattie flip-flop has a very supportive footbed and a super grippy sole. It would be perfect to order and wear now with all of your casual summer outfits. It also comes in black, cream, and pale blue.
Mephisto Helen Toe Loop Sandal

If you like Birkenstocks, you’ll love the comfort of this Mephisto Helen for its similar arch support and cushioned feel. There were a lot of women snapping these up at Nordstrom yesterday. A few reviews say these fit narrower than Birks, but most agree they are super comfy. They do come in a neutral warm beige, but most of the gaIs yesterday were buying them in the red, yellow, or deep blue.
Flats and Loafers
Ilse Jacobsen Tulip Slip-On Sneaker

If you’ve been around AWSL for long, you’ve probably seen me wearing a pair of my Ilse Jacobsen Tulip shoes. This super-comfortable slip-on sneaker has a suede upper that’s whipstitched to a flexible rubber sole. They stretch and mold to your feet and are cool in hot weather. This year, they’ve added this fun platform style, which allows for even more comfy cushioning than the original pair. I love the metallic silver, which continues to be a popular trend going forward, but I could not resist the grey blue. They also come in black, light brown, red, and pale yellow.
Cole Haan Greta Lug Sole Loafer

Loafers really skyrocketed in popularity last fall and winter, and it seems they’re here to stay for another season. I avoided loafers for a long time, but I’ve discovered that I like the bulk that loafers add to the bottom of my silhouette when wearing chunky sweaters or wider-leg jeans. These Cole Haan loafers have a comfy fit with ample arch support and are also available in black.
Vionic Newport Loafer

If you aren’t a fan of the big, chunky loafer, this sleek loafer from Vionic is a great alternative. Plus, it’s made by Vionic, so you know that it’s going to be comfortable! The black or cream will look great with all of your fall and winter outfits, but I’m actually loving this vintage blue.
Paul Green Ursula Ballet Flat

You all have heard me sing the praises of my beloved Paul Green sneakers over and over again. They’re the ones I reach for when I want style and comfort. Paul Green really knows how to make comfy shoes. They’re an investment for sure, which is why I’m thrilled when I find them marked down. This year, the Nsale includes several shoes from Paul Green, including this Ursula ballet flat. It has a flexible rubber sole with enhanced arch support and comes in red, black, metallic, and leopard. They also have this lug sole loafer on sale, which looks very supportive.
Boots
Kork-Ease Bristol Chelsea Boot
I love the ease of just slipping on a comfy bootie, and you can’t go wrong with a timeless pair of Chelsea boots. Trends come and go, but this style of boot has been around since the days of Queen Victoria. These Kork-Ease Bristol boots are a great style to pair with wide-leg or bootcut jeans this fall. I’ve also worn a Chelsea boot with tights and a dress or skirt. These come in this taupe suede and black or brown leather.
Vionic Aliso Wedge Chelsea Boot

I love the chic and sporty twist the wedge sole brings to this Vionic Chelsea boot. They have a deep-heel cup and plenty of cushiony support. They come in medium and wide widths with a removable insert, so you can add your own custom orthotic.
Eileen Fisher Bren Bootie

I’m a big fan of Eileen Fisher’s footwear and have been wearing them for years! These Bren booties have a stacked block heel and back zipper which will make them easier to put on and take off. They come in black or ecru suede. These sports sandals are also included in the sale in three colors. I have been wearing mine for over 6 years!
Sneakers
AGL Parsy Low Top Platform Sneaker

The NSale is the time to stock up on pricier brands like AGL. A quick scroll through my blog will tell you quickly that I am a big fan of a quality white sneaker, and this AGL low top platform has a great look. Their grosgrain laces and golden eyelets really elevate the look from a standard sneaker. AGL has been handcrafted in Italy for many years and is pricey, so finding them on sale is a treat. The website says these run small and to size up.
HOKA Mach 5 Running Shoe

I’ve learned that you can’t go wrong with Hokas. They’ve been referred to me by my physical therapist, as well as many AWSL readers. These super lightweight Hoka running shoes are included in this sale in two colors. Here’s what the website says-
Propulsive, protective PROFLY+ foam absorbs the impact of every heel strike and rebounds to push every toe-off powerfully forward. Engineered jacquard mesh, featuring recycled content, keeps the upper breathable when the intensity heats up, while a gusseted tongue molds to an anatomical fit, and an extended heel pull gets you in and out of this lightning-fast style with equally impressive ease.
Rykä Devotion X Max Walking Sneaker

I own and love these Ryka Devotion X Walking Shoes. When I first shared about these shoes, a lot of AWSL readers commented that they had been wearing this brand for years! If you haven’t heard of Ryka, they are the first brand to create athletic shoes specifically for a woman’s unique foot shape, muscle movement, and build. They also make a large selection of sporty casual, hiking, running, trail walking, and waterproof athletic footwear in different width options you can see here.

Now that we’re back in our apartment, I’ve added a few pairs of shoes to my cart that I did not see at the store. I’m going to order while I can and return what doesn’t fit.
When can you shop the sale?

Hello Jennifer – could you please let us know the white tie top you’re wearing in your top photo post today? You have all your Nordstrom sale purchases/bags with you in your photo. I have reached for a top like this many times this summer – but I don’t have one! I remember you had a post on it once. Thanks for all you do for your newsletter. I learn a lot from you.
It is this cardigan tied in front and it’s on sale! I own it in S and M
So many great cool colored shoes! Thank you for showing them to us. I just bought a pair of ebony/black Brooks Ghost max running walking sneakers for my husband. He loves his white ones. I also have both. They are very well cushioned and great for walking the dog or shopping. I wear mine all day when doing housework. I would love the Paul Green sneakers but even on sale, they are too high for my budget.
Brooks make super comfy sneakers!
Great shoe options. I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for Vionic. I’m tempted to buy a pair.
They’re very, very popular with great arch support
I have Rykas and my husband loves his Hokas. We are heading to our Nordstrom for the sale! Thanks for showing us all the great shoes.
Good luck!
I ordered the Kork-Ease Chelsea boots yesterday in black. I like the looks of the wooden heel and tan trim. Here’s hoping they fit! By the way, the picture of those boots isn’t showing on your blog post. All other pics are fine.
They look great! Thanks for letting me know. Kork Ease are always so comfy.
I would dearly love to shop several items featured on your blog, but I am oh so nervous about shopping on line internationally. Having not worn Eileen Fisher before, I am uncertain about the sizing, especially with so many options such as petite, regular available. Same goes for J Crew and Frank and Eileen. The navy and white skirt you are wearing looks really stylish and a nice change from trousers or jeans.
I understand your concern. EF runs very large so I always size down. I prefer her petites too.
This is the year I will need to replace a pair of winter boots. I won’t be able to shop till July 15th, but I am going to start to narrow the search over the weekend.
The blue Munro sandals are so cute – I could make those work with a lot of my summer outfits 🙂
Hopefully they will restock too! I’ve got my eye on a winter coat so have my finger crossed things fit.
Great suggestions, Jennifer. I’m here to add that the colors of some of your choices looked much different to me in the store, in a pleasant way.
The color Cashmire in the Paul Green flat is a beautiful taupe like color, which looks light gray in the sunlight. I am always looking for a neutral color shoe that skews cool, and this is it.
The ECCO soft side sneakers are another delight. The color “heavy silver” looks like a charcoal gray to me, with a nice sheen. The etching on the side of the shoe is much less noticeable in person. It’s great to find a dark shoe that’s not black.
Happy shopping!
That’s great to hear. Neither store I shopped had the Paul green flat in the taupe color!! I’m ordering them. Thanks!!
Hope they are a pleasant surprise for you, too.
