Dressing Room Diaries- Bright Color For 2024 From J. Jill

I’ve read that bright and strong colors will be trending at the start of the new year and i had no trouble finding lots of it. This is never a surprise because we could all use a pick-me-up during the grayest months. Color is a great tool for boosting our mood so here are some bright color for 2024 from J. Jill.

If you’re new here, welcome. A dressing room diary is when I go into a local store for a try-on session to see what’s new and show you how it looks on a woman over 25. For reference, I’m 5’4″ and weigh around 145 lbs. I have broad shoulders with straight hips, a long torso, and long arms. I often buy one size larger on top. You’ll see me try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not flatter me because I want you to see what’s in the stores and get some styling ideas. I tell you what sizes I’m styling to help you understand how things run.

J. Jill has streamlined its sizing so that every style is available as regular in sizes XS-4X. Petite and tall are still available in popular styles, and all sizes are priced similarly.

TEXTURED COWL NECK SWEATER size MP / HOOP EARRINGS / BARELY BOOT JEANS 8P / EASY SPIRIT BOOTIES

I’m wearing my own jeans and booties throughout. This bright orange sweater caught my attention the moment I walked in the door. It’s a lightweight cotton blend that’s nice and cozy but not heavy. I love it’s soft, drapey cowl neck. It also comes in a stunning cornflower blue that has my name all over it. It’s thin enough to half tuck in front or wear out over your pants.

TEXTURED SPLIT NECK SWEATER size MP

This brilliant emerald sweater has a split neckline and all-over garter stitch knit which makes it very soft, drapey, and pliable. It’s also a cotton blend and has flattering raglan shaping. The low hip length would be most flattering with a slimmer leg. This also comes in navy blue which looks quite subdued.

SOFT KNIT COLLARED STRIPED TOP size MP / REVERSABLE PONCHO size S/L

There’s nothing quite as cheery as bright yellow. This striped top is super soft and cozy with a large collar that you can adjust up in the back for some “attitude”. It also comes in solid bright sapphire blue or navy and cream stripe. I topped it with this reversable poncho in shades of lemon and porchini. Ponchos offer great coverage for milder temperatures and this one is a cotton blend which makes it wearable for many seasons.

STRIPED TOP size MP / HOODED ANORAK size MP

I love this striped tunic top in shades of navy and ivory. It’s a soft viscose/cotton blend that feel substantial but lightweight. It has slight dropped shoulders or it would have come home with me. I’m wearing it with this hooded anorak jacket in “red clover”. The weight is perfect for mild winters or spring time and it has an inner drawstring at the waist to snug up and give some shaping. It’s a water-repellent fabric and convenient hood for wind and rain.

shirtRELAXED PINK TUNIC SHIRT size S / PATCH POCKET CARDIGAN size S

Bright pink, yes please. This fun fuchsia tunic is a great burst of color for any outfit. I love it with my dark denim but it will be equally fun over white jeans or black trousers. It’s slightly oversized so you could sized down for a slimmer fit. I paired it with this blue, patch pocket cardigan.

I’m begining to see many more brightly colored pieces on line from J. Jill which should be hitting the stores soon.
