Summer Fashion Trends Women Over 60 Can Rock With Confidence
With summer right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the best summer fashion trends that women over 60 can rock with confidence. Great style does not have an age stamp…unless you want to put one on it. We’re old enough to wear what we love and make the call about what we feel confident wearing. I’ve already embraced a few that are quickly becoming favorites.

You won’t catch me wearing stilettos and a body-conscious dress, but that’s my preference. If I see a woman rocking that look joyously, more power to her. She does her, I do me, and you should do you. That said, it’s nice to know what’s new so you can incorporate some into your look for a fresh feel each season.
Metallics Trend

Metallics are still going strong and always have in my book. From shoes to accessories, this is an easy one to incorporate into your wardrobe. Metallic accessories act as a great neutral when worn for both dressy and casual occasions. Mixing metals remains a popular look and one I wholly embrace. Metallic fabrics are also plentiful if you love that level of bling.

I added these metallic sandals to my wardrobe this spring which I know I will wear for years to come. Munro makes an incredibly comfortable shoe in one of the most inclusive size ranges in the industry.
Preppy Chic

This one isn’t new either, but life has changed after the big lockdown, and we’ve discovered the comfort of matching sets. It’s also more acceptable to dress in a sportier style for all but the dressiest of occasions. You’ll see more clothing options with sporty details like the varsity collar, the polo shirt, and color blocking.
Monochromatic Dressing

I’ve always been a huge fan of tonal and monochromatic dressing which they’re now calling out as a trend for summer. You can do this easily by purchasing a matching set or mixing and matching different shades within an outfit. I find it makes dressing a breeze. Add interest by choosing different textures in similar colored pieces.
Soft White

We’ll see plenty of bright, stark white this summer, but softer options are becoming plentiful. It’s exciting to see ecru, winter-white, alabaster, bone, cream, and whisper-white at most retailers. Unless you’ve been typed as a winter in the seasonal color analysis systems, these softer whites are more flattering against your complexion. White dresses are also trending this summer, as are embellishments like crochet or fringe.

I have fully embraced the softer whites this summer and will be adding pieces to my wardrobe while I can. My ivory silk shirt and tile white jeans look like they were made for each other and my alabaster tote is the perfect shade to carry all summer.

I’m wearing blue from pale Haze Blue from Landsend to nave linen from Quince. Blue is my color and I wear it with jeans now as it was 41 this morning and raining here. Layering is necessary here this spring in the front range Rockies of Colorado. I love your style and color choices. I copy them often but in lower priced choices. I’m still hunting for sandals that are comfortable on my arthritic feet. I want to check out SAS up in Colorado Springs in person. They are expensive so I want to be fitted in store. Now to get my husband to take me up there! I hope you are on your way to your cruise. Please enjoy yourself.
I love blue everything. That sounds like a great combination, Sydney.
Bought the metallic tee at Chico’s. Hope you get credit. Love it!
I’m so glad you love it! If you bought it online through my link, I should get credit. Thank you!
I absolutely love this soft white and aqua outfit on you, Jennifer! Also, the rule of thirds it demonstrates. How does one use the rule on body types that are short and can’t wear tops tucked in?
A column of color, where top and bottom are the same shade, will work with a longer outer layer in other color. No need to tuck. I’ll do some more diagrams.
I really love all the outfit inspirations. The whites and creams are right up my alley. The soft pastels look great too.
Great post, Jennifer! Thank you for all of this inspiration…I’m ready to start shopping!
What a great, informative post Jennifer. Thank you. Now I’m going shopping for some red shoes! I have red sneakers and always forget about them.
Red shoes are so fun!
