3 Sweaters Worth Investing in for Fall

This title could be a teeny bit misleading because one of the 3 sweaters worth investing in for fall is actually part of a cashmere pajama set. I knew when I bought the PJs that I wouldn’t be sleeping in them, but it turns out that I’ve been wearing them out and about more than I anticipated. All of these sweaters are also still in stock at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which is a win/win in my book.
We took a quick road trip south to the shore this week, and I was delighted to have packed my cozy sweaters. Coastal mornings can be breezy and cool, so having lightweight cashmere in my bag was the smartest thing I could have packed. I love cashmere year-round because it breathes, so I never overheat in it.
The first morning, we spotted several seals from our balcony, and I skipped makeup but slapped on some lipstick to race down to see them before breakfast. It looked chilly, so I popped on the cashmere pajama top with my bootcut jeans and comfy sneakers.
It was breezy and chilly, so after breakfast, I grabbed another cup of tea, switched to this short-sleeve pullover, and added my wool and cashmere cardigan. I’m a big fan of Vince sweaters. Their modern, timeless aesthetic makes them enduring classics that elevate your wardrobe. Vince sweaters are an investment, so I always hone in on them during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
It has all-over-cables and a slightly oversized fit, making it cozy to slip over so many things. Besides this rich cherry wine color, it also comes in coastal blue or tan. It’s a wool/cashmere blend that feels as soft as 100% cashmere.
The charcoal pullover is the same wool/cashmere blend in a lighter weight knit with short sleeves and a crew neck. It’s short enough to tuck or wear out. I opted for charcoal, but it also comes in coastal blue or dark tan. It’s still in stock in all three colors and the price is great during the sale. My Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans and navy platform sneakers are also fully stocked and a great buy.
The weather was getting cloudier by the moment, so we toddled further down the coast and checked into one of our favorite little hotels. The following morning, it was drizzling, and our room feIt drafty. I wanted nothing but to feel cozy. I donned the entire cashmere PJ set and asked my husband if it looked like I was wearing jammies. When he confirmed no, so I put on earrings and headed down for breakfast. 🤣
I added the cardigan for lunch under the overhang on the terrace. No one seemed to notice I was wearing PJs, which makes me wonder why they just aren’t labeled athleisure.

The quality of this cropped cashmere pajama set is fabulous, and its length is perfect for the shorter gals among us. They come in grey, black, or oatmeal. They’re beginning to sell out in a few sizes, but they’re still in stock in various colors. I can not recommend these highly enough!

Thanks for another great post and especially your good tips on the Nordstrom sale. We are headed to Vancouver from Indiana. Then going by train to Kamloops, Banff and Lake Louise. The temperatures are showing the weather to be hot yet you seem comfortable in your cashmere set. Is this because you’re on the coast? We were thinking more along the lines of shorts most of the time but maybe we should include more jeans? Any advice would be appreciated.

The coast is always breezier. We’ve had a few cool days but the forecast is for it to warm up and get sunny. I’d suggest a lightweight windbreaker just in case.
I love all of your cashmere and wool blend sweaters. The pajamas are clearly limited with that label. They look very comfortable and stylish on you. I can’t wear cashmere or wool unfortunately, but I do have a pair of linen pajamas that I wear as athleisure as well. Your hair looks wonderful and on the beach strolling you don’t need makeup. A little lip color and you look wonderful, happy and comfortable.

Wish the weather had been better for your trip but on the bright side you got to wear your cozy sweater and pajama set. You look beautiful on the beach at Semiahmoo in the wine cardigan and again on the terrace of the other hotel. I agree that no one would know you were wearing pajamas as the area is very casual. Hope you had a good time despite the chilly weather. Glad the Nordy sale continues into August. I have a few more things to pick up.

How beautiful to “get away”! I think me and mine should do that more often as a change of scenery really is therapeutic. I bought the Vince cardigan after seeing you in it the color is so gorgeous and lush. Makes me excited for Fall! I went up to my usual size, a medium, so let’s hope that’s a good idea but it seems they have all sizes still. The Wit and Wisdom jeans were a real winner for me being petite, thanks for that and the price is terrific. Have a lovely day!

Sounds like a fun trip. I love the “pajamas” on you. Would never have guessed that they are meant to be pj’s. Have you found anything that will clean the white portion of the Ecco sneakers? I have tried many different things and nothing seems to help.
Mr Clean erasers worked very well for white sneakers.

Love the charcoal pullover. I have a closet full of grays and blacks. Your hair looks amazing. Did you start the oral minoxidil? I am thinking about asking my doctor for a prescription. It’s either that or invest in a topper.
I did start it and it’s been a real game changer!! Do ask your Dr. Pat. It’s made all the difference in the world.
Can you provide more information on your experience with the oral minoxidil? Or maybe I missed a post where you addressed this? Do you need to see your dermatologist or medical doctor for that? I have upcoming appointments with both and will definitely check it out. My hair has been thinning since I turned 69, and it’s causing so much stress.
I have not written a lot about it because it’s just starting to show success, in the last few months. Yes, you need to have it prescribed. Oral minoxidil is a potassium sparing drug so because I am also on a blood pressure medication that does the same thing, my primary care Dr and cardiologist started me out very carefully. They monitored my blood work to be sure things were ok. I was beside myself with stress about my thinning hair so this has been a miracle for me. You can also get it prescribed from a website called HER, but I strongly suggest you go through your doctor to be safest.
