I’ve never been a fan of wearing over-the-top holiday motifs, so this subtle nod to winter is the perfect blend of casual sophistication.
Let’s start with this classic flannel shirt. It has a soft, neutral color palette with a hint of metallic that feels festive without leaning too traditional. The lightweight fabric is perfect for layering under sweaters or jackets without adding bulk.
This Grey Sky Heather snowflake sweater feels festive without looking goofy and will be wearable long after the holidays have passed. It’s made from a cotton blend with a hint of wool that makes it fairly warm. You can drape it over your shoulders or wear it as a pullover like I did to add a third layer to your look.
As for the jeans I have on, Talbots Barely Boot jeans are one of my favorite shapes that I’ve been wearing for years. The flare is subtle but perfect for over flats or booties. This season, Talbots has scattered fun crystals across the bottom, which adds a fun, festive touch to an everyday outfit.
Outfit 2: Elevated Neutrals with a Plaid Shirt and Ivory Corduroys
If you’re looking for an alternative to traditional dark holiday colors, this outfit is a breath of fresh air. I paired the same gray plaid shirt with a pair of ivory corduroy pants to create a light, monochromatic look. This look could work for any holiday event and way into winter.

These straight-leg corduroy pants are buttery soft and a wardrobe staple you’ll reach for year after year. They are full-length (yay!) and have enough stretch built in to be comfy. Plus, they come in a variety of neutrals and colors, in case you want to grab more than one pair!
To complete the look, I added this Quilted Sherpa Jacket. It is part of the T by Talbots collection, so you know it’s an elevated casual style. The ivory color is a versatile neutral that adds brightness to any outfit, whether you’re wearing darker colors or sticking with lighter tones like I did here. The quilting and sherpa on the jacket adds visual interest to the look. This also comes in black.

A week or so ago, I purchased a few things featured on your blog. The long sleeved indigo stripe knit shirt with the fuchsia sequin ribbon/bow trim, the dark green/indigo sweater with Christmas tree trim around the neck, and the green velvet vest. All are lovely. My only concern is that the vest may not be warm enough for super cold weather (and too puffy to layer under something else?) but too warm for weather that is chilly but not cold? But all are beautiful. I suspect all are keepers.
Talbots is one of my favorite stores and has been for many years. I have both the gray snowflake sweater and the crystal hem jeans and have been waiting for the weather to cool off enough to wear the sweater. I think I’ll finally get my chance this week.
