Monday Musings and Family Events

Happy Monday, ladies. This week, I have a good old-fashioned musings post with an update on happenings in my world and what I’ve purchased.

RAILS CHAMBRAY SHIRT / KUT FLARE JEANS / PAUL GREEN SNEAKERS / SHOULDER BAG / SIMILAR NECKLACE

Today is the last day of the Sephora Sale, so over the weekend, my daughter and I hit the sale no less than 3 times. On our last trip, I discovered they had restocked some of the Nécessaire products and found a few new products to try.

BODY WASH / BODY SCRUB / BODY LOTION

I’ve been using their retinol body cream, hyaluronic body serum, and body wash, for a long time. Today I found they created a new body lotion in the same delicious eucalyptus of the body wash, with five peptides, niacinamide, vitamins c and e, and omegas 6 and 9.

I also discovered they have a rosemary shampoo and rosemary conditioner for “weak thinning hair”. As you know, I’m always trying new things for my thinning hair, so I’m really looking forward to trying these. They were sold out in store, so I ordered them as soon as I got home. Rosemary has been touted as very helpful for stimulating hair folicles and I’ll let you know how I like it.

Peptides

ARGIRELINE SOLUTION 10% / MATRIXYL 10%

I also picked up the Ordinary’s Argireline 10% and Matrixl 10%+HA. I’ve been deep diving down the skincare rabbit hole about peptides and Argireline for several weeks and have read enough to know it’s worth trying. Lots of brands include these peptides but the Ordinary brand is dirt cheap and highly rated.

Argilenine is reported to relax the facial muscles, so that wrinkles don’t set so deeply in our skin. It’s not Botox in a bottle (as some say) and it’s not a permanent solution but studies show it does work while you wear it. I’ll keep you posted on this one.

This weekend, my little grandson turned one, and we had a great time at a family party. He is a bubbly and sweet little guy. He loved the balloons, playing with his brother and cousins, and even got into eating the “smash cake” his mom made for him. It was so nice to have all of his family there to celebrate together.

CHAMBRAY SHIRT / TRIPLE FLEECE JACKET (FROM THIS SET)

I also had a chance to spend some extra time with my older grandson, playing cards and having him over for dinner. We attended his last baseball game of the season, which is always a blast. I’m not the loudest cheerer in the stands, but probably close.🤣 With the change of time it was pitch black and freezing cold by the end of the game, so I have to get my jackets and warm scarves out. Spending time with him really warms my soul because he’s a sweet kid.

Since my daughter was in town, we decided to try and find a local golf course where we could play par 3 (pitch and putt) like we do in Canada. In Vancouver, we mostly play at the gorgeous tree-lined Stanley Park course. It’s lush and beautiful, full of flora, birds, and little animals scurrying around. We love to play there in the mornings when it’s quiet, over a cup of coffee. It turns out that even though there are a lot of courses to be played where we live, there are very few par 3 golf courses. We’re not quite ready for prime time at a regular course. So we diligently scoured the internet and found one about a half hour away.

This one turned out to be located in between an incredibly busy six-lane highway (no sound barrier) and a fairly large cemetery. The noise was absolutely deafening. We had a good laugh, but suffice it to say, this will not a repeat experience for us and it had me longing for Stanley Park. We’ll keep an eye out for some other options because my husband and I are loving golf and we want to spend more time at.

Are you planning to pick anything up at the Sephora sale? If you are, a kind reminder that clicking my links will support my blog and will not add any costs for your order.

Have a great day and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. I have gone to Sephora and purchased the products you mentioned. I too have a problem with the Retinol drying my skin too much so I only use it 3x a week. Can you list the order you apply your serums, lotions and creams again I lost the last sheet I printed out.

    Thank you.

    1. I start with the lightest first, then after they dry, I add thicker products and sunscreen last.

  2. I commented earlier but don’t see it. I had asked why buy both Ordinary products? Do they do different things? And, what cream would you apply over the serum?

    1. My moisturizer goes next, then the sunscreen. I let things soak in for a bit between layers too. 🙂

  3. Absolutely adorable picture of you and your baby grandson! My grands are all in their twenties and thirties now. My greats are still little but alas, they live very far away in Iowa, Washington state and Arizona. I do get frequent pictures texted to me and cute videos of our one year old. I love my chambray shirt and wear it a lot in warmer weather. I have had to switch to flannel shirts and flare leg jeans because winter weather has arrived here in Colorado. My whole family were and are golfers. I was a dud from day one at about age six when my dad tried to teach me. I would go to the driving range and destroy my five iron for an hour with my husband. Never made it to the course.

  4. Try Maelove for their new Peptide Squad serum. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and love it. It’s the first serum on the market that has all four classes of peptides, copper, Matrixyl 3000, argireline and rice peptides.

    1. Wow, it sounds wonderful! I will try it next.

  5. Sounds like you had a great weekend 😀 we also got to spend some time with our 11 year old grandson. I’m so glad you are getting into golf. My husband and I are real golf fanatics. It’s our thing to do together. We’re having withdrawals as our courses are closing for the season. All these skin products are great to learn about!
    .

    1. I agree, it’s great to have a sport to do together. Grands are the very best!

  6. Why did you buy those two products? Do you use them together? And, what cream do you put on top of these serums?

    1. I liked the reviews and have always wanted to try Matrixyl 3000. I add a moisturizer on top of the serums, then when that soaks in I add sunscreen.

  7. Adorable picture, what a cutie( both of you ) 😇

    1. Thanks. He’s a doll

  8. Hi Jennifer, I’m hoping you can give me some guidance. I really need something for wrinkles around the eyes, but so many anti-wrinkle products warn to not use in the eye area. What would be some recommended options? I’m so befuddled about this. Many thanks for your help, Jo

    1. I think the trick is to use the products on the bone around and under the eye. You just don’t want to get too close to your lash line or you risk it migrating into your eyes, which is not good.

  9. There is no better place than a first birthday! Your grandson loves his Grandma!

    1. First are the best!!

  10. Joan Kobetz says:

Our local golf club has five tee boxes, I play from the “orange tees” about half way down the fairway. You might be able to find courses near you which have similar arrangements.

    1. That sounds like a great idea.

  11. Happy Birthday 1 year old! He’s adorable I bet hes’ smiling at his lovely
It was my birthday this weekend too! I’m way away older than he is. Hope his life is beautiful!

    1. Thank you Paulette. Happy Birthday!

      1. Super cute bc baby! Enjoy him and all your grandbabies.
