Affordable Spring Fashion at Kohl’s Women Over 50 Are Loving
I’ve been hearing from more and more readers asking for stylish fashion that doesn’t cost a fortune. Whether you’re retired, budgeting more carefully, or just tired of inflated price tags…affordable fashion is what you want and need for your wardrobe. Style should feel good, not stressful. I’ve done some digging and found some smart, wearable pieces that could easily fold into your wardrobe without shouting “budget buy.” These are the kinds of finds that can stretch your style dollars, especially if you’re rebuilding after a closet clean-out or just want a seasonal refresh without overspending.

Here’s a closer look at some of Kohl’s most promising affordable spring fashion pieces for women over 50.
Stylish Spring Tops That Feel Fresh (Without Breaking the Bank)

A lightweight camp shirt is one of those wardrobe heroes you don’t fully appreciate until you own one. This Eddie Bauer Camp Shirt has short cuffed sleeves and a crisp collar and comes in several pretty shades. It’s perfect for warmer days and looks just as good tucked into jeans as it does over shorts. It’s a lightweight cotton/spandex, which gives it just enough stretch to stay comfortable—not stiff. It comes in 4 colors, XS-XXL.

Stripes are practically a neutral in my book, and this Croft & Barrow stripe top has enough detail to keep it interesting. I love the button shoulders and V-neck, which gives it a bit more polish than your average tee. It comes in classic colors like navy and red, and it’s soft and breathable for spring layering.

Cardigans can skew matronly if you’re not careful, but this Draper James Patch Pocket Cardigan doesn’t. The braid trim and shorter length give it a fresh, slightly preppy vibe that works beautifully with high-waisted pants or over a dress. It’s flying off the shelves, and I can see why.

This Lauren Conrad Knit Button Down Layering Cardigan is a lovely in-between piece that’s more structured than a shrug but softer than a jacket. The stripes are fun, and the fit is flattering with both skirts and wide-leg trousers. A good layering piece when you want to add some personality without going bold. This comes in a few fun stripes and colors to wear open, like a light jacket or buttoned-up for a more tailored look.

This Simply Vera Vera Wang Women’s V-Neck Pucker Top is great for dressing up without much effort. The puckered texture gives it a luxe look that is slim-fitting but not clingy and ideal for dressing up jeans or slipping under a blazer for dinner. It comes in 6 colors and is machine washable and tumble dry low.
Budget-Friendly Bottoms That Flatter

A great straight-leg jean is worth its weight in gold, and these Lands’ End Recover High Rise Straight Leg Jeans are a reliable and stylish choice. Offered in petites and plus sizes, these jeans are a nice cut that flatters most shapes. The high rise helps define the waist, and the fabric has just enough give.

These Croft & Barrow pants are stretchy, smooth, and easy to wear. With nine colors in petite, reg, and long inseams, they’re a solid option for work or everyday wear. The pull-on waist means no buttons digging in, poking out into your tops, and no zippers to fumble with. These also come in a ton of colors, and readers rave about their comfort.

Wide legs are everywhere right now, and these Draper James Flat Front Wide Leg Pants manage to feel both modern and timeless. They’re structured enough to look polished but not stiff. A great pick if you want to ease into the wide-leg trend without going too voluminous.

These Levi’s 318 Shaping Wide-Leg Jeans are a game-changer if you’re looking for something flattering and current. The shaping panels give subtle support (without feeling like shapewear), and the wide leg feels relaxed and on-trend. Great with sandals or wedges. These come in seven different washes, including white and a washed black option.

Soft, floaty, and breathable—these Lands’ End TENCEL™ High-Rise Wide-Leg Pants are made for warm weather. The TENCEL™ fabric is airy and breathable with a soft drape that feels almost like linen… without the wrinkles. Perfect for travel, errands, or casual dinners on the patio.

If you’re not into shorts, this Sonoma Goods for Life Yoke Denim Skirt is a great alternative. The yoke detail gives it shape, and the stretch denim keeps it comfy. Pair it with a tee and sneakers for weekends or a blouse for casual lunches. Easy and timeless.
Comfortable, Stylish Shoes for Spring

If you’re searching for comfortable women’s flats that don’t sacrifice style, the LifeStride Notorious Slip-On Flats are a simple slip-on with soft support. If your feet protest ballet flats, this one has a bit more cushion while still looking polished.

If you have an event coming up (or just want to feel a bit more polished), these LifeStride Lorena Slingback Dress Shoes are the perfect mix of style and comfort. They have a sensible height, classic shape, and walkable comfort. These would work well for weddings, church, or any occasion that calls for a little more effort because they have LifeStride’s signature Soft System® comfort technology for all-day wearability.

A comfortable wedge is worth keeping on standby. These low-profile White Mountain Wedge Sandals pair well with wide-leg pants or summer dresses and give a little lift without hurting your feet.

Slides are the unofficial shoe of spring and summer, and these LifeStride Getaway Slide Sandals are supportive enough to walk in for hours. They offer arch support and come in neutrals that blend into your wardrobe effortlessly.

Lightweight, supportive, and not overly “athletic,” these Easy Street Comfortable women’s slip-ons have a foam footbed with a flexible and lightweight outsole that moves in every direction. They come in 7 colors in M, W, and XW widths.

Designed with breathable mesh and a flexible sole, these Reeboks deliver cushioned support without the bulk, making them a great option if you like the idea of sneakers but want something a little sleeker. They’re lightweight and come in several neutral colors that go with just about anything.
Affordable Handbags & Totes That Elevate Everything

With an adjustable strap and multiple compartments, this Rounded Flap Crossbody is as functional as it is stylish. It comes in this tan or toffee color with a magnetic snap closure and antique brass-tone hardware.

This FLX Quilted Shoulder Bag has a fun texture I’m seeing on many bags with a higher price tag this spring. It comes in 5 colors, and zips closed to keep your things secure. The inside has several pockets to keep you organized, and the outside has one for quick access.

Whether you’re heading to brunch or traveling light, this Nine West Crossbody bag blends fashion and function beautifully. The sleek bucket silhouette offers roomy storage with 3 interior pockets and the outside wipes clean.

Whether you’re looking for a stylish woven tote for spring or a flexible accessory that works double-duty, this Reversible Woven Tote is roomy enough to carry all your daily essentials (and then some). It delivers both fashion and function in one affordable piece.

Nothing says summer like a stylish straw tote, and the LC Lauren Conrad Amy Straw Tote Bag is the ideal companion for sunny days ahead. Lightweight yet spacious, this woven handbag has a relaxed, beachy vibe that’s perfect for everything from weekend outings to vacation getaways.

Which of these budget-friendly pieces would work in your wardrobe and home?

I love shopping at Kohls online. A store in Pueblo is only about an hour away but the really large one is further in Colorado Springs. I would love a girls shopping day up there. Kohls and JCP are my go to for clothes. Their sales are great and I have found that the clothes I have purchased from there last. I still like Chicos for pants and jeans and no iron shirts. Landsend for shorts and some tops. Thank you for this selection at a price I can afford. It is fun to see the expensive clothes and figure out a way to make up the look at a price I can afford.
Thank you Jennifer. I enjoy all of your posts and brands. Its nice to see options in a lower price range that are not from the big W or the big A, if you get my meaning 😉
I do know what you mean
Thanks for some options in my price range. Obviously I’m going to need to make a trip to Kohl’s next time I go to the city. (Hour and half away, so not a common occurrence.)
I seldom shop at Kohls as there isn’t a store in my area, but popped in while traveling to look for some Easter hand towels. They have cute things at great prices in the bedding & bath section. I also bought a Croft & Barrow graphic tee for $9. It’s a great quality cotton that comes out of the washer & dryer looking great with no shrinkage.
Thanks Jennifer! I had the red striped shirt and Easy Street slip-on in navy in my cart before I finished your post! They are perfect for my summer European cruise, classic and nautical!
Thank you for showing us affordable clothing, in nice styles. I have followed the links to several things and already purchased them. I have to admit that I have been bypassing your blog, lately, as I find the clothing and accessories incredibly expensive. Thank you, again, for thinking of those of us that want to look nice, but cannot afford expensive clothes.
Hi Jennifer,
I was about to order the brow serum you suggested but after reading the instructions, it said not to use if one is going through cancer treatment so I don’t think I should use it.
Are you aware of products some of us would be able to use while going through cancer treatments?
I am not aware but I’d check everything with your doctor, just to be safe

The quilted bag is unique and I am anxious to purchase! So many classic and great items is inspiring.
I stopped in Kohl’s to look at the quilted purse. So nice in person. I saw the blue and green versions. I will be ordering black or cream online.
Thank you so much for profiling Kohls. It’s close to me without having to go to the mall…lol. Cute items ascalways!
I like Kohl’s because we actually have 2 stores here. I like to be able to see and try on things if I need to. Buying petites online can be tricky.
Hi Jennifer, thank you for showing some tops that are not tunics. The shirts seem to be getting longer and longer, which make most of us look even shorter. I am not looking for rib ticklers, but longer than my bottom is too much. Have a good one! Jo
That’s a great way to describe them. I like mine hip length. They’re the most versatile
Kohl’s is great for finding basics that will last. Also, budget friendly for the whole family.
Great options in thrower price range. Now, I simply must visit my local store to check these out.
Good luck! My store had almost nothing in stock which is why I always shop them online.
Thanks so much for this post. Kohl’s and Penney are the only two major clothing stores left in my town. Also, I am going to try the brow serum. 🤞
What a great array of items you found. Everything looks classic yet current. My friend just got the quilted bag you showed, and it is a nice-looking stylish bag and so economical.
