Inside the Nordstrom Dressing Room | Fall 2025 Fashion for Women Over 50
Everyone else may still be in shorts, but I spent two different days in two different Nordstrom dressing rooms trying on fall 2025 clothes. There’s something a little funny about pulling on jeans, jackets, and sweaters while shoppers around me are buying sundresses, but that’s the fun of a Nordstrom dressing room try-on—you get a real feel for what’s worth adding before cooler weather finally arrives.
Nordstrom Try On Fall 2025 for Over 50
Suede Jacket + Jeans

ALL SAINTS LONG SLEEVE TEE size S
This All Saints suede jacket was too large for me in size 14, but it’s so pretty, I couldn’t resist trying it on. The shoulders are too wide for me, and I had to fold back the sleeves, but wow, it is gorgeous. Buttery soft with flattering princess sleeves that slim the torso. The simple zip front gives it a minimalistic and clean vibe.
Under it, I’m wearing an All Saints Organic Cotton tee that fits beautifully. I bought it in the denim blue color during the anniversary sale and have worn it a lot. The fabric is a nice, substantial weight in a totally classic shape. I’m wearing black here, and it’s available in several other great colors.
These Madewell straight-leg jeans are a smidge too long with flats, but would work beautifully with a low-heeled loafer, sandal, or bootie. They have a “vintage-inspired wash” (no clue what they mean by that) and 1% elastane…just enough stretch to provide ease but not feel stretchy. The website does not mention the inseam, but I’m guessing it’s around 30″.
Blazer + Striped Sweater + Wide Leg Jeans

HALOGEN SINGLE BUTTON BLAZER size 8
I love the way a blazer dresses up a pair of jeans, so for this outfit, I paired a polished black blazer with a black and beige striped sweater and a pair of beige wide-leg jeans.
The Halogen Blazer is fully lined and made in a fabric blend that includes spandex, so it doesn’t feel confining. It has a single button closure, peaked lapels, and is machine washable! Hard to beat that in a structured blazer. Oh, and it also comes in 5 other colors that are marked down!
This Nic+Zoe Striped sweater is a cotton blend that’s a great weight for transitioning through the seasons. The sleeves are elbow-length, and it also comes in navy with black stripes.
I’m styling these with the Nic+Zoe Mid Rise Wide Leg Jeans that have a raw hem (easier for hemming). They’re labeled a mid-rise, but they seemed high enough for me, and I have a long torso. The soft Chamoise color is a versatile neutral that looks great with so many colors. Wear it now with white sandals and add chocolate booties when the weather cools off.
Chambray Shirt + Striped Cardigan + Black Bootcut Pants

NIC + ZOE DEMI BOOTCUT PANTS size 8
These Nic+Zoe Demi Bootcut pants feel fabulous on. The fabric has a twill-like feel with plenty of stretch, which makes it flattering and comfortable. They do come in regular and petite, but I’m not a fan of crops when the weather cools off, so I prefer this regular, which has an inseam of 28″. These come in 4 colors and could be easily dressed up for work or dinner out, or dressed down for a comfy day while running errands.
I topped them with this classic Caslon Chambray shirt, which is available in this pale wash or a medium one. I’ve owned this exact shirt for years and find it a great staple for the wardrobe. I topped it with this slightly oversized Shaker Knit cardigan in a navy and ivory stripe. Although it has the relaxed “grandpa” style, it runs true to size. It’s 100% cotton and comes in ivory with navy or navy with ivory stripes.
Textured Knit Polo Sweater + Wide Leg Jeans

The Kut from the Kloth Wide Leg Jeans have a finished hem. YAY! I am so over frayed hems and always delighted to discover ones that are finished. These come in regular and petite lengths. They’re a relaxed style with no distressing, which again, I’m appreciating more and more these days. This 10P is a bit large on me, so they run true to size.
I’m wearing it with this Sanctuary Textured Top that has a collar and polo styling. I’m seeing a lot of this textured knit for fall at all price points. This one comes in regular and petite sizes in 4 colors. The texture makes this shirt more body-conscious than a plain top, so I suggest you size up. I went to a large petite so the sleeves would be long enough and the body would be short enough. Don’t you just love items that give us fit options?
Short-Sleeve Sweater + Straight Leg Twill Pants

This Sanctuary Short Sleeve pullover is a mixed fiber blend in a heathered oatmeal shade. The wide, short sleeves give it a distinctly modern feel and a comfortable fit. This would be hard to put under a blazer, so it’s best on its own. It also comes in a pretty powder blue.
I paired it with these Wit & Wisdom Straight leg pants in the Brindle shade. These are a cotton blend that’s lightweight enough to wear now and into fall. These come in 5 colors, with some petites depending on the shade.
Short Sleeve Sweater + Black Blazer + Bootcut Jeans

KUT FROM KLOTH ITTY BITTY BOOT JEANS size 10P
Of all the jean styles that come in and out of fashion, I find the bootcut or flare is the most universally flattering for all body silhouettes. This Itty Bitty Bootcut has a small flare, which works for all heights but is especially great for petite women. I own these, or I would have bought them. They come in regular and petite inseams.
This Scrunch Sleeve blazer is a fun alternative to a strict classic and gives it a contemporary vibe. It’s also helpful for ladies with short arms because you don’t need to get the sleeves hemmed. It’s fully lined with peaked lapels and requires dry-cleaning…but to be fair, I seldom dry-clean my black blazer unless I spill on it.
I added a Halogen Short Sleeve sweater that’s a great weight to wear on its own or layer under cardigans and jackets this fall. This comes in 8 colors and has linen in the fiber blend.
Cashmere Cardigan + Kick Flare Pant

Last but not least is this pretty blue, short-sleeve cardigan with a big price tag. I loved everything about this Frame Cashmere Cardigan, except the price :). As expected for cashmere, it’s very soft, and the two-tone soft gray edges only add to its charm.
These Rag & Bone Irona Kick Flare pants fit like a dream. They have a back zip closure, which keeps the front nice and smooth. These are a thick knit fabric with plenty of stretch, so they hold everything in place. They come in 4 colors with a 27″ inseam and a stitched front seam, which gives them a streamlined look.
Trying On Fall 2025 Trends at Nordstrom
Part of the fun of a dressing room try-on is seeing which pieces feel modern and wearable, and which ones don’t quite land. Some of these styles I could imagine working their way into my fall outfits, others not so much. But that’s what makes a Nordstrom dressing room try-on interesting—you get a glimpse of the season ahead without committing to anything just yet.
What about you? Do you see yourself in structured blazers and wide-leg jeans this fall, or are the softer knits calling your name?

All the outfits look very flattering on you. Thanks for sharing.
First, a question…how much magnesium glycinate are you taking?
And, I think this post is gonna cost me! Drooling over suede jacket.
Thanks…I think?😂🤣
lol! Just one tiny scoop
Yeah! Let’s get rid of the frayed jeans. To me they are sloppy. At 5′ I did buy a pair of frayed jeans then paid $30 to cut off two inches for length and had a regular finished hem. Most petite jeans have 28″ inseam and I need 25.5 or 26″. I normally would not do this, but I had been looking for the color and the style and needed them for a couple of events. Following you I have become a fan of Nordstroms private Caslon line.
It’s a great quality brand
I’d wear everything you posted today! My favorite is the stripped T and black blazer.
I liked that too!
The suede jacket gets my vote! Very versatile.
Totally off topic, but did you have your Fraxel treatment – and if you did, how are you feeling about it?
Yes I did and I’m doing great. The first two days were a bit rough. I’m taking photos to share once I look better.
The Wit & Wisdom Straight leg pant looked like a full length pant on you, but when I looked at it on line it looked like a high water pant, which is what I call anything that hits above the ankle! Such a cute pair of pants but not if they are not full length! So disappointing!! You looked great in everything, BTW!!
You look so classy in that black, off white combo, Jennifer. When I opened up AWL this morning & saw that picture, I said to myself YES!!!! Great try on episode. Bring on fall!!!
Thanks
Nancy
Thanks Nancy! I’m ready for fall
Jennifer, do you still get a commission if I clink on your link, add it to my Nordstrom Wish List, and buy it at a later date?
Yes I do so long as you click through one of my links right before you purchase. If you click to the same site from another persons link, then purchase, they get the commission. Thanks so much for asking!
I really like elbow-length sleeves and wish more tops had them. They just look more put together to me.
If this try-on is representative, it would seem that fashion is trending a little more structured and defined versus the more boho/casual looks we’ve been seeing lately. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I sure hope so. Put me in the elbow sleeve length sleeve category too!
You look really pretty in all the Fall clothes!
Thanks
I liked both the structured jackets and the knits. Fall is definitely a time for both!
You really found some great things to try on. I love all the knits. I’m still not really embracing wide leg pants but I’m sure I’ll come around. Nordstrom always has beautiful clothes.
Thank you so much Jennifer for all your fitting room try-ons. It really helps to see the different clothing on a person that is my age and size. Enjoy your day.
You found some great pieces. It drives me nuts when websites don’t list the inseam on jeans! Or the front rise or how wide belts are!
Same! It’s so easy for them to include it and lazy not to, because we need to know!
That was a great fitting room try-on! Nordstrom seems to have hit on a bunch of good items. I love the All Saints jacket, it’s a beauty.
I agree!
Anxious for fall and you made it look more inviting. Thank you
I love your dressing room try on’s! That suede jacket looks great on you even in a large size. That is on my list! Thanks for doing these and sharing!!
Love that black Sanctuary knit texture top…..would look good with the double denim look you were showing the other day and black accessories.
Yes it would!
I agree: finished hems look so much neater than the fraying. Love the Kut from the Kloth jeans.
