Weekend Reading 09.06.25

J.CREW FACTORY CHAMBRAY SHIRT / PISTOLA JEANS (on sale) / FREDA SALVADOR FLATS (on sale) / THE ROW ’90S BAG / SIMILAR NECKLACE / SIMILAR SILVER CUFF

Don’t let my smile fool you…it was over 100 degrees, and I’d just spent over an hour wrestling with some returns. I’m rumpled, hot, and frustrated that the weather won’t cool off. These jeans are some of my very favorites, and they’re marked way down this weekend.

What Readers Loved Most This Week:

  • These Talbots Barely Bootcut jeans are one of the biggest sellers of the week! I will admit to owning 3 pairs. They’re distinctly comfortable around the tummy for me, so I have them in petite sizes in several washes.
  • This Packable Rain jacket has been a best seller for three weeks running! We should have a meet-up and all wear our coats in the rainbow of colors it comes in 🌈
  • This Chico’s cashmere blend sweater is on its way to lots of readers, and it looks like a beauty.
  • This Talbot’s Suede bag made it to many of your carts. I love the shape, and of course, the suede is yummy. And if brown isn’t your thing, it comes in black studded leather here.
  • These Monica Vinader earrings are on the way to many readers this week. Did you know that Monica Vinader is a sustainable brand that uses recycled silver and gold plate?

Weekend sales:

Ann Taylor – 30% off your purchase.

Chico’s – $50 off your $200 purchase.

Gap – Up to 50% off sitewide, and 20%-40% off all jeans.

J. Jill – Take $20 off all full-price pants.

Talbots – 25%-40% off select fall styles.

In case you missed it:

It was a short week on the blog because things have been pretty hectic these days. I always think I’ve planned ahead, but then when the you-know-what hits the fan, I end up short on time. Fingers crossed, next week is better. Have a terrific Saturday, and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

  1. Good luck on all your packing. I don’t envy you, but on the bright side you will have new flooring!
Returns are the worst but holding on to items you don’t really want is not wise.
Take care, and take time for rest

Oh dear! I can relate to your stress. My heart goes out to you. We just had to have our wood floors replaced due to a newly-installed whole house water filtration system that leaked for a week while we were away. It was such a nightmare. Packing up, the demolition of flooring and underlayment, then living for one entire week with dehumidifiers and fans running/roaring 24-7, the sawdust that seemed to be everywhere even in the parts of the house not directly affected, the wait for the installers’ schedule to open, and finally a beautiful new floor. We had no viable option other than to live amodst all the mess, but if you have another option, I advise it. You’ll get through it! Best of luck.

    1. Oh no! That’s awful. We’ve been through a massive home flood several years ago and virtually the entire first floor had to be rebuilt. No fun. At least this is smaller and we don’t own the floor.

  3. Jennifer, we’ll be traveling to Vancouver next summer to start our Alaskan cruise. Would you do a post on what you recommend we see while in the city? Is it worth adding on a couple of extra days? And, of course what to wear!

    1. I would absolutely add a few days. It’s one of the loveliest cities but it’s the surrounding natural beauty that should be seen.

  4. You and I are living parallel lives this weekend. A pipe burst and flooded my downstairs and I must pack everything and get it ready to be moved out. I’ll be living in my bedroom for weeks while damage is repaired.
I wore the red jumpsuit from Quince after being blown away by you when you wore it. Nothing but compliments. I hope you bought it also.
    Love your blog!

    1. Oh no Judy!! That’s the pits. I’ll be thinking of you as we pack up too. Hang in there.

  5. Good Morning Jennifer, love that photo of you at Nordstrom and the description behind it. I need to go Monday for a return and want to try those pistola jeans. Hope they have my size. Want to let you know, I received the Easy Spirit Blue Suede shoes and I love them! Thanks for that recommendation. Comfy, cute and gives me a bit of height … can’t beat that.

    1. Amazing! I do hope they have your size in store, or check online. I love mine.

  6. The links within the text of the blog don’t work. The ones below it do work.

    1. Sorry, I fixed them

  7. Amy Robertson-Smith says:

Good morning Jennifer, have a great weekend. We recently had all of our carpet replaced, same crazy job of packing up everything, good luck. Hey your link to the packs or rain jacket isn’t working?
    Thanks, Amy

    1. Good Morning! I fixed the links, thanks

  8. Packable raincoat link is not working.☹️

    1. Oh no! Let me try to fix the links. I’m pretty sure they work in the email.
