Eileen Fisher Fall 2025 Try-On: Cozy Layers and Polished Picks
I popped into Eileen Fisher this week to try on pieces from their fall 2025 collection, and let’s just say—I could’ve happily walked out with half the store. The textures, the colors, the easy silhouettes… it’s all very Eileen, in the best way. If you’re curious how the latest styles look on a woman over 60 (with a petite frame and real-life proportions), this try-on is for you. Spoiler: there’s a ruby-red sweater I’m still thinking about.

If you’re new here, a dressing room try-on is when I go into a store to try on the new collection so you can see how things look on a woman who is 5’4″, 145 pounds, and over 60. I have broad shoulders and narrow, straight hips. Eileen Fisher is a size-inclusive brand ranging from XXS-3X, with many sizes in regular and petite.

This long, boiled wool vest is a fun third layer to jazz up many looks this fall…including jeans. It’s very light, but I suspect it will feel cozy as the weather cools off. I’m wearing the Sea Salt, and it comes in 5 other colors, including a stunning Ruby. The calf length adds a dramatic touch, which I just love. It has no closure, but I think it would look stunning belted.
I’m wearing it over this merino crewneck in regenerative wool. It’s responsibly sourced wool that’s soft and drapey. I love that the shorter length means no tucking is necessary. If you’re worried about your tummy showing when you raise your arms, simply wear a thin tank underneath, like I do. This is Sea Salt, and it’s also available in 4 other colors.
I love these washable flex ponte trousers, but as you can see, I am standing on my tippy because they’re so long. I’m thrilled to see so many full-length pants in this collection, but it means I do need the petite option. These have classic trouser styling with a zip front, side pockets, and belt loops. The double-knit fabric feels like a dream on with just the perfect amount of structure and stretch. I’ve ordered the petite :).

Here’s the same long vest in the Alpine color. I’m wearing it over a cotton-blend turtleneck in the same shade…which is a great underlayer to add a bit of warmth when the weather gets clammy. The website describes it as sheer, but it looked opaque in the three colors I saw it in, so I’m not sure why it’s described that way. It’s available in six shades, including Rye for preorder, which I have in my cart.
The Ponte Flex pants are a stretchy pull-on style with a moderately wide leg, on-seam side pockets, and a smooth waistband. I own these in 2 shades from past seasons and love how comfy yet polished they are. These have a 27″ inseam, so they pass for full length on me.

I’ve been buying and wearing these washable stretch crepe pants for over 25 years. They pack and travel beautifully and are in an array of shades to complement every wardrobe. At least one pair goes on every vacation with me, either to wear while traveling or as a workhorse during the trip. They dress up and down and feel as comfy as your jammies. This pair is Rye and would have come home with me, but I own a similar color from years past.
I’m styling them with this funnel neck top made from a Peruvian cotton/Tencel blend. It has a soft ribbed texture in a mid-weight knit that feels incredibly cozy without being too hot because it’s cotton. The dropped shoulder is not overly flattering on my broad shoulders, but it will add nice balance for women with wider hips. I’m wearing Sea Salt, and it also comes in Alpine.

This cotton and recycled cashmere turtleneck almost jumped off the rack into my arms😍It’s the most glorious ruby shade and super soft. It’s fitted through the shoulders and is wider at the hem with a slight trapeze shape. The length makes it perfect over slim pants or leggings…if you still wear those. Are you ladies wearing leggings these days? The sweater comes in 4 shades, and I have to say, the Sea Spray, (soft blue) is a knockout.
I topped it with this short quilted vest to give a nod to the waist and break up the proportions. It’s thin and soft so you can easily layer it over or under jackets. This one is black and it also comes in biscuit or reed…I may need the reed.
The pants are a fabulous boiled wool jersey with a side zipper, back darts, and no pockets, so they’re very smooth around the tummy and hips. These are a gorgeous, rich charcoal color, with a wide leg that drapes nicely. I am standing on my tiptoes and sadly they don’t come in petite in this shade…yet. Eileen calls this the “magic” pant because it instantly elongates. I have to agree, they’re pretty terrific because the wool is soft, not scratchy, and slightly stretchy.

Here are the felted wool jersey pants, which look similar to the charcoal pants above, but these do come in petite with a 28″ inseam. These have the same shape and styling and are just as flattering. They’re also available in two other colors. I’m wearing a Tencel, 3/4 sleeve top in Alpine, which I couldn’t locate on the website. I hate when that happens. If you spot it, please let me know. Sylvia found it! Thank you so much!! It’s the stretch scoop neck jersey top!

Here are the boiled wool jersey wide leg pants that I showed above, this time in biscuit. Can you tell I loved these pants? I’m wearing them with this High Collar Coat in the same shade. The coat has very minimalistic styling with a snap front closure, simple patch pockets, and a belt. This color makes me look like I have the flu, but it’s lovely on people with warm undertones.
MORE FINDS FROM THE NEWEST COLLECTION
If you’re easing into fall and wondering where to start, look for pieces that layer well, move with you, and feel quietly luxurious. Whether you’re running errands, meeting a friend for lunch, or dodging contractors like I am, it’s worth having a few staples that make getting dressed feel simple and satisfying.
Have you tried anything from Eileen Fisher’s fall 2025 collection yet? Or do you have a favorite piece that always gets you through this transitional season? I’d love to hear what’s working for you right now.

Sorry for two posts, but this is the cotton version. I actually have several of these with the crew neck. Love them.
Yes, thank you. I love these tees

Is this the alpine tencel you are referring to? I found it listed as “scoop neck” without mention of that great sleeve length.
I love Eileen too. Especially their sales. Great post.
Yes that’s it! Thank you so much. I bought it so it’s nice to be able to link it.
Lovee, love, love, the Eileen oatmeal outfit. She’s way out of my price range. I’ve never tried anything on to avoid getting overly tempted! I’m happy that you show them so I can dream!
She has a lot of sales and they mark things way down so you could check after the season. Her pieces are really timeless so it doesn’t matter what year you get them.
Thanks! Great suggestions.
You are absolutely right about the sales, and another important note: Eileen Fisher clothing LASTS and LASTS! Nothing ever really wears out. I have some pieces that are 20 years old and look like new. The company will even take back used pieces, pay you $5 a piece, rework and resell them
Same! My favorite dressy black jacket is at least 15 years old
I love EF! Her styles are so elegant and easy to wear. I LOVE the long vest and have several from years past. But I always struggle with what type of coat to wear with them. I’m glad to see you styling them with wider leg pants. I’ve never been a fan of leggings. I just freeze in them.
Love the colors and style. Quick question…. Does the ponte fabric stretch out while wearing, pill or shrink after washing? I do own a few pieces from EF but not this fabric.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
They don’t bag out or shrink. I’ve never had a piling issue. I machine wash them inside out.
Love the alpine color. Lovely items all.
These fall outfits are quite nice and look great on you. I really like the style and quality of Eileen Fisher but find that the sizes just run way to big for someone with a small frame but who is not petite in height. So, while I’m unlikely to find anything that fits in this brand, your outfits still give me ideas for fall.
Jennifer,
I am wondering if you might have some influence at Eileen Fisher re: online ordering? Because the sales associates at my local store have told me that other customers have the same problem about online orders. I mainly have to take only petite sizes and usually the PP size, and my local store doesn’t carry many. Whenever I try to order online it won’t get through……..my “checkout” screen does not include a box for a phone number. When I advance to “payment” and put in my security code, an error message pops up and it goes back to the “checkout” page but this time there is a box for a phone number. Then when I advance to the payment page, the security code has disappeared and I have to re-enter and so it goes, back and forth. I have sent them 5 or 6 emails in the last 15 months about this and all I get is an auto reply about their concern. It happens on iPad, iPhone or on Windows laptop, and on different browsers I have tried. Right now I have 5 times in my cart! Have tried about 10 times in last 3 days. Which have been so jam-packed that I have not had opportunity to call an order in. It’s time they joined the e-commerce trend in 2025!
I’m so sorry Sheila, I have no relationship with Eileen Fisher so I can’t offer any help.
I do still wear leggings! I think, on me at least, they look good with a long sweater and tall boots — comfy yet polished. I was fortunate to find some fleece-lined leggings that look slim but add warmth for winter.
I love EF and those colors are gorgeous! Did you try to search for the 3/4 sleeve top by color? I do that often when I love a color and want to see my options!
I did and no luck! I bought the top too😂
Yesterday I received two packages based on your recommendations and I am thrilled. One is the denim “lady jacket” from Ann Taylor. It fits beautifully and while it is a denim jacket, it reads as much more sophisticated. The other purchase was the girlfriend flare denims from Chicos. I am petite (5’2” and 105 lbs) and am tired of being dwarfed by today’s voluminous jeans. As you promised, these flares are perfect – fitted at top and flaring only at the bottom. Thank you!!
Wonderful!!
Eileen Fisher is my favourite! Expensive so I always wait for the sales and I’ve been building my collection that way. I always get compliments when I wear her clothing,
I love her clothes too
I love the colors and the textures look so nice. I like the long vests but being short I don’t know if I could pull it off. Everyone around here is still wearing leggings and not just to the gym. I can always find those to fit. I really long for a petite store!!
Good morning Jennifer. Enjoyed seeing this variety of Eileen, through your try on shopping! My daughter likes to give me Eileen Fisher as birthday gifts. She says it’s easy shopping. Lucky me!
You are lucky!
Good Morning Jennifer: I hope you walked out with that Alpine Vest, Pant and Turtleneck. Looks amazing on you.
lol, how did you know? I bought the vest and think and I need the turtleneck. 😍
Hi Jennifer, such great options here! Thank you.
I fell for the corduroy lantern pants in Everglade. Such a gorgeous gray green, it looks great with so many colors in my closet and they come in petite, no hemming needed. Looking forca charcoal or black vneck sweater best as an option for a top
The Everglade is a gorgeous color.
Love this post! I’m a huge fan of Eileen Fisher clothes, but the price point is high. Appreciate seeing you try on the clothes and us giving your insight. Thanks!
I’m glad this was helpful. I love them too.
Nordstrom Rack Chicago – Lots of Eileen Fisher on clearance
Love Eileen’s clothes but they are very expensive. And yes I still wear leggings.
I agree the outfits are beautiful. I really like the long vest.
Thank you for informing us some highlights that different stores have. I love clothes, but am more of an online shopper, so your try-ons are very helpful! Cheers to getting your condo floors completed soon.
Mona
I’m glad it’s helpful. Fingers crossed. This construction zone living is really getting depressing
