What Caught My Eye At Nordstrom For The Holidays
The holidays always seem to burst through the door like an overexcited relative, so instead of rummaging for sequins, I sat down and scrolled through Nordstrom. I was hunting for the kind of everyday pieces that make you feel a little more pulled together on the days when you’re juggling errands, tea breaks, and whatever surprise pops up next. A few things stood out, plus a small section of easy gift ideas for anyone still on your list. Nothing festive, nothing that lights up… just cheerful, practical finds to help December feel a touch easier.
Elevated Layers: Sweaters, Tops, and Jackets
We are well past the age of wearing anything that doesn’t feel fabulous or requires constant adjustment. These pieces are all about structure, comfort, and looking effortlessly polished.
Nic+Zoe Metallic Grid Jacket
An elevated little layer that works when you want something dressier than a cardigan but not as formal as a blazer. This jacket has metallic threading that gives it a subtle shimmer that doesn’t shout, so it’s easy to wear during the day. It looks great with denim and trousers and adds just enough personality to simple outfits.
Nic+Zoe Shimmer V-Neck Waffle Stitch Sweater
This is the kind of sweater you reach for when you want cozy texture with a little holiday sparkle. The waffle stitch gives it a modern, structured look, and the soft shimmer adds just enough interest without drifting into novelty territory. It feels festive in a grown-up, stylish way.
Nic+Zoe Cozy Chic Fuzzy Shrug Cardigan
A fuzzy shrug always feels a little indulgent, and this one adds warmth without swallowing you whole. It’s a great piece to layer over sleeveless tops or dresses when you want the comfort of a wrap but the look of knitwear. Soft, easy, and perfect for evenings when you want to be comfortable but still presentable.
Nic+Zoe Chain Trim Fringe Mix Knit Jacket
This jacket has a polished, textured look with just a touch of personality from the chain trim. It gives the feel of a classic knit jacket but with more dimension and interest. A nice option when you want something structured that still feels soft and wearable.
Caslon Textured Knit Shirt Jacket
Where I live, winter isn’t always cold enough to justify a heavy coat, so I rely on lighter layers like this knit shirt jacket. The knit construction makes it soft and easy to wear, and the ivory keeps everything looking clean and fresh. It’s the kind of casual piece you toss on for errands or travel days when you just need a little something.
KUT from the KLOTH Fuzzy V-Neck Sweater
This has that gently fuzzy, brushed finish that feels soft without adding bulk. This V-neck is effortlessly flattering and makes it easy to layer with a tee or tank. A simple winter staple that pairs with just about anything.
Nic+Zoe Shaker Stitch Cady Sweater Jacket
A sweater jacket is one of those pieces that helps you look pulled together. The shaker stitching gives this one structure while still being comfortable like knitwear. It works beautifully with trousers, denim, or even a simple jersey dress.
Zella Skyline Longline Quilted Jacket
This is a lighter quilted layer that feels sporty without being too casual. The longline shape gives you extra coverage and warmth, especially on windy days. It’s ideal for travel, long walks, or any time you want a warm layer that isn’t bulky. I tried on the Grey Plum, and it also comes in 4 other colors.
The Bottom Line: Chic Jeans and Skirt
Finding bottoms that are comfortable, fit well, and instantly modernize our look is the real victory, Ladies. We don’t have time for anything less than a perfect fit and flow.
Eileen Fisher Crinkle Satin Bias Skirt
The crinkled satin has a good weight to it, so it falls beautifully instead of clinging to every curve. The quality shows in the way it moves, giving you texture without any fuss. This skirt comes in deep, rich colors that feel especially right for winter and pairs easily with sweaters, boots, and simple tops.
AG Brinley Mid Rise Crop Straight Leg Jeans
I own these jeans in a different wash and reach for them constantly. The straight leg shape is modern without being trendy, and the crop works well with boots or sneakers. Sizes tend to disappear quickly, so if they have yours, don’t wait. I also noticed that they are making the Brinley pair in a classic, straight-leg version that I’m tempted to try!
Finishing Touches: Accessories & Comfort
Sometimes, the smallest details or the simplest comfort pieces make the biggest difference in our day-to-day style.
Rothy’s The Cozy Faux Shearling Lined Clog
This clog is one of those easy slip-on styles that feels warm and cushioned without being sloppy. The faux shearling lining adds comfort while keeping your feet toasty. They’re great for around the house, quick errands, or casual winter outfits.
Nordstrom Cashmere Scarf
A good cashmere scarf feels like a small everyday luxury, and this one really does. It’s soft, warm, and one of those pieces you end up reaching for more than you expect. It adds comfort on cold days and a quiet bit of elegance to whatever you’re wearing. If you love the look of cashmere but not the price, this alternative is surprisingly soft and lightweight. A great budget find that doesn’t feel like one.
Tory Burch Small Perry Leather Shoulder Bag
A clean, structured bag that fits the essentials without weighing you down. The leather is soft, and the shape works for both daytime and evenings. If you like a smaller purse that still feels intentional, this is a solid option.
Effortless Gifting & Everyday Luxuries
Let’s face it…the best gifts are the ones we would secretly buy ourselves. I’ve filtered through the excess to find three items that are guaranteed crowd-pleasers. These are comfortable, thoughtful luxuries that feel far more expensive than they are, making the holiday shopping part of your life genuinely easy.
Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Hollywood Mini Lip Trio ($54 Value)
This mini lip trio is a fun way to try the brand’s most popular shades without committing to full sizes. The minis are surprisingly wearable and great for slipping into a small bag. A nice little luxury for anyone who enjoys makeup.
Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Circle Cardigan
Soft, stretchy, and one of those pieces people put on and never want to take off. It’s lightweight enough for lounging but polished enough to wear out of the house. An easy gift because the fit is forgiving and the comfort speaks for itself.
Favorite Daughter Sweatshirt
This sweatshirt has a soft interior and a slightly relaxed cut that looks good on everyone. The graphic is playful without being loud. A cozy, easy gift for daughters or daughters-in-law.
I hope this little round-up gives your wardrobe a gentle lift, and maybe your spirits too, without a single tinsel earring in sight. The hard part is done. No frantic scrolling, no wondering what you’re missing. These are simply the pieces that stood out to me. And truthfully, tracking them down used up my entire screen-time allowance for the day.

“We are well past the age of wearing anything that doesn’t feel fabulous or requires constant adjustment.”
So I went to the closet and removed three items. 😉
I loved the look of the jacket you are wearing but the reviews are mostly negative – too thin, zipper is difficult, piling after a few wears, etc. It’s really cute but a hard pass for me at that high a price.
I see a few negative reviews and many positive. It’s hard to count on reviews alone.
Lovely things on your last minute list. It has turned warm here. Expecting 71 degrees in December in Colorado! I’ve never seen it this warm. I want my usual snow! I’m ready for sweaters and wool socks. I did buy merino wool socks for my bestie as she is always cold. Enjoy some downtime Jennifer so you don’t burn out or get sick. We will be here no matter what.
Thanks Sydney. I will be taking some time off during the holidays.
Jennifer, these are some really nice options. Thanks for sharing. I had a question about the AG jeans you mentioned having (the crop version). How does the length fit you? I saw that they are 27″ and since I’m 5’4″, I think they’d hit me maybe right around or below my ankle?? I have so much trouble finding jeans that are really ankle length without having to get them hemmed. Thanks!
I’m 5’4” too. They hit mid ankle on me.
I love those cashmere scarves and just ordered myself one!
They’re fabulous, you’ll love it.
Love the purse but they are no longer showing it in black. Darn! I like the cardigan both for gifting and myself. Hope you are staying warm and your grands are better. Christmas is so much more fun with some children in the mix.
Thank you! I agree they make things so much more joyous
I love all these Christmas suggestions! Thank you, Jennifer for helping us find gifts for our family or for ourselves.
I couldn’t resist the cashmere scarf for 2 people on my list. I own a few.
I love all your Nordstrom finds 🎄
It’s was fun seeing what’s new.
