My 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On For Women Over 50
Nordstrom sponsors this post. Thank you for supporting the brands that work with AWSL.
I’m delighted to partner with Nordstrom again to share my 2026 Nsale finds for women over 50. I spent two days in the dressing room trying on outfits for you, and here are my first finds. I bought a few pieces on the spot, while others are still on my wishlist. You can see and shop the rest of my picks, organized by category and brand, as well as petite and plus sizes, over on my Nordstrom Storefront.

First up, I started with trench coats because I need one. This Reiss Azura Trench Coat is amazing. It’s beautifully made from a water-resistant cotton blend and fully lined, with all the traditional trench details. The bonus is a zip-out quilted front panel with its own hood, almost like a dickie, which adds extra warmth on cold, nasty days. The trench also has a hood, so you can layer it over the quilted one for even more protection.
I’m wearing the neutral shade, but it also comes in a rich chocolate brown that looks stunning. Brown is everywhere for fall, so I’m seriously considering that one. I’m wearing a size 8, which is a little large on me. I’d go down to a size 6.

This Zella 3-in-1 Trench Coat includes a removable quilted vest with a snap front and side-seam pockets, so you can wear it on its own. The vest is lined and filled with 100% recycled polyester.
The trench has an attached hood, a mesh lining, and a drawstring waist you can cinch for more shape or leave loose for a relaxed fit. It has a much sportier feel than the Reiss and comes in three colors and sizes XS–XXL.

This Zella Quilted Skyline Quilted Jacket is a 3/4-length bomber-style jacket with unique onion-shaped quilting that adds texture without feeling bulky. It has front pockets, ribbed cuffs, and a two-way zipper, which makes it easier to sit and move around. It has polyester fill and a high stand collar to keep out the wind. This comes in 3 colors; I’m wearing grey/plum.

This Zella Skyline Belted Puffer Vest came right home with me. The high stand collar and slightly wider shoulders give it a modern shape, and I love the removable belt which prevents the Polar Bear vibe and adds some shaping. It has a zip front with a snap storm placket and front welt pockets. This is an easy piece to throw over a sweater, a sweatshirt, or workout clothes, and it works for every season. It has that same onion-shaped quilting I find so much more flattering than square quilting. It comes in 3 colors; I bought the matte (soft) black.

This Halogen Mixed Media Twofer Cardigan is such a great idea. It has woven shirt details at the neck, and the cuffs are sewn right into the cardigan for a layered look that takes no effort. It comes in 3 colors, but I particularly like this Merlot for fall.
These Frank & Eileen Westport Illusion Wide-Leg Jeans are even better than I expected. I bought them the first day of the sale and immediately wore them for the second day of shopping. They’re a pull-on style with a smooth waistband that slims and feels like a dream to wear. They’re selling out fast, so if you like them, add them to your wishlist in case they get restocked.

I loved this Caslon A-Line Denim Midi Skirt the moment I put it on. The smooth waistband and side zipper keep the front clean. It’s shaped through the seat before flaring into a full A-line for movement without bulk. This is a midweight denim that holds its shape but still feels swingy and fun.
I paired it with this Short Sleeve Cashmere Sweater in Blue Subdued, a lightweight 100% cashmere top that’s almost like a cashmere T-shirt. Wear it on its own or layer it under jackets this fall. It comes in 7 colors; the lighter shades run slightly less opaque.
I topped it with this CeCe Cropped Faux Leather Ruffle Trim Jacket. Ruffles aren’t usually my thing, but these are just a tiny detail on the soft, supple black faux leather. I popped the Peter Pan collar up in the back, a trick I love because it makes any outfit look more put-together without extra effort.

I wouldn’t necessarily wear these two together, but here we are. This Vince Camuto Faux Leather A-Line Skirt is so soft and comfortable to wear. The regular length swallowed me up, so I ordered it in petite (5″ shorter). Smooth waistband, back zipper, no bulk through the tummy. Comes in regular and petite, sizes 0-14W, and dresses up or down easily with flat booties and a sweater.
I topped it with this Zella Soft Luxe Utility Jacket in grey pebble, a sandwashed scuba knit with a drawcord at the waist for shaping. It zips up the front with a stand collar, banded cuffs, and pockets front and side. Comes in 3 colors, with coordinating pants here.

This classic Vince Crewneck Sweater is, in a word, perfect. The yarn is incredibly soft, and it’s the type of sweater you’ll wear for years… I have. It’s very slightly cropped, easy to wear untucked, and comes in 3 colors
I’m wearing it over these Mother Slim Straight-Leg Jeans in a soft, faded grey wash. They’re described as mid-rise, but I didn’t find that true for me. The legs are narrow, so I think they’d be perfect tucked into high boots, slim but not like the skinnies we used to wear that looked spray-painted on.
I topped it with this Vince Drape Sweater Coat, cozy and warm with an attached scarf. It’s a wool blend kissed with 3% cashmere, and I expected it to be scratchy… it’s not, even snuggled around my neck. No front closure, which is part of its charm. Also comes in paler gray or dark thyme here.

Clearly not my best color… but I wanted to be sure to show you this Frank & Eileen Cotton Fleece Capelet. I own a lot of Frank & Eileen, and can tell you this is one of their very best fabrics. It’s soft and cozy, but not too hot to wear in mild weather. Sadly this sold out quickly.
I’m wearing it over this super soft Frank & Eileen Eileen Relaxed cotton shirt in a cream & camel check. It’s a soft fleece fabric that’s perfect for fall. It would have come home with me but I have a very similar one.
I’m wearing over my Rag & bone Harlow straight-leg jeans that I wore into the store. Mine are not part of the Nsale, but these ones are. They’re both in a low-stretch denim which holds it’s shape beautifully. You can see more of my favs from this brand here.

This Caslon Half-Zip sweatshirt is incredibly soft and cozy. It’s a cotton blend with lots of stretch so you could work out in this or wear it for around town and a set with these coordinating Stretch Cotton Crop Kick Flares. Both come in 3 colors.
Things are selling out so I’m going to stop now, so I can get this post out to you. I have a few more I’ll share in the next day or two. Remember, if you like something but you can’t shop yet, put it on your wish list so you can snag it when some returns come in.
Please let me know if you’re looking for something specific and I will chase it down for you.

Great styles you picked . You look awesome in everything . Hope to get there tomorrow! Thank you! Zeke
I love the blue glory color of the half zip sweatshirt and crop pants.
I am 5’4” but size L or XL. I don’t like crop length. The pants you are wearing look regular length. If I order regular length will they be more ankle length on me as they appear on you?
Any other items in the blue glory color?
I’m also 5’4″ so they should be about the same length on you.
Today was my shopping day, and miracle, I got everything on the wish list before it sold out. Go me!
Wonderful Kay! Lucky you
Great post! I liked way too much and will need restraint. I’m also very jealous you could do so much trying on… if I went hard core like that, my back would be out for a week. 🥴 Jo
Who said my back wasn’t out ? 🤣
Fabulous choices. You’ve given me lots to think about. Thanks
Can you comment on the cute necklace you’re wearing with those great outfits, or did I miss it somewhere?
It’s new and I love it. You can find it here.
I’m loving all things brown this season. I’m not even sure if it looks good on me but I like it. Great post.
If you like it, that’s what counts. Everyone has a shade of brown that’s flattering
Thank you for all your efforts concerning The Nordstrom Sale! The clothes you modeled are beautiful!
My pleasure Denise
At 88, I appreciate your”dress and go” ideas. Thanks!
Eyeing that Vince cashmere so thanks for trying it! Generally though, way too much brown for me this year!
I’m going to dabble in brown. I say it every fall, but this year I hope to follow through. It just looks so darn appealing.
Thank you for this detailed post! I added a number of items to my eish list.
Really appreciate you posting this so quickly!!
I hope you get what you want.
