Weekend Reading 05.16.26

We are off on our trip to Singapore and Bali! The plane seemed large enough until I realized I was sitting right behind a couple traveling with an infant and a child who looked to be about 4. It’s very hard to entertain young children for a 16-hour flight.
My earplugs were stowed in my luggage, so that was my first packing failure. I wonder how many more I’ll uncover.
Bestsellers this week, what you loved:
- This Ruggable Teal Bath Mat was a huge bestseller this week. I keep forgetting to remind everyone, but you can use AWSL15 to save 15% sitewide. In fact, all my discount codes are here.
- My Emme Slim Leg pants were also a big seller this week. I have them in white, but they also come in 3 other colors.
- These Wit & Wisdom denim shorts were also very popular. They come in several washes and have a nice inseam length.
- This Tommy Bahama embroidered cotton dress was also very popular. I packed mine for Southeast Asia.
- My favorite Endless Pants landed in many of your carts this week. I’m wearing mine to fly because they never ever wrinkle and look very polished.
- This Gauze French Terry Mixed Tee continues to be very popular this week.
- My very favorite Cotton Gauze Button-ups are another bestseller this week and are 20% off with the code SUMMER.
Picks from the weekend sales:
CHICO’S has pants and tops up to 40% off. Here are some reader favorite styles:
NORDSTROM RACK has up to 60% off new arrivals, including some Tommy Bahama and Eileen Fisher.
J. CREW FACTORY has 50% off everything. Here’s what caught my eye:
In case you missed it:
There were some amazing conversations in this week’s blog posts, and I’d love to have you join in. I just love this community!
- Monday musings on why some women prefer calm neutrals…it’s not what you think.
- The best shorts and how to choose flattering ones.
- How to find your personal contrast level and why it matters.
- After 20 years as a stylist, these are the clothes I never wear.
Have a wonderful weekend and do something nice for yourself.

Hope you have a wonderful trip to Singapore and Bali, Jennifer. I would love to hear about it upon your return. Thanks for leaving us with a great selection of reading before you left. All were helpful and insightful. Many thanks.
Have a fabulous trip Jennifer and we’ll look forward to reading about your interesting adventures. Safe travels.
Endless pants from Athleta are the best! I have two styles- regular and cargo (cargo have an adjustable snap at the ankle), both in black and navy. They are my travel pants, and I coordinate my travel wardrobe around them.
Have a glorious trip Jennifer and hubby!!
Thanks
Safe journey and enjoy the wonders of Asia. I hope those kiddos went to sleep and slept most of the night. It is still very hot here in southern Colorado. I’m wearing cotton gauze or linen blend every day. Do the Chicos Travelers pants fit the same as the Brigitte straight leg pants? By the size chart I should wear the 1.5P but needed the 2P in the Brigitte. I have to buy everything online. If someone could tell me I would appreciate it.
Sydney
I’ve not tried them. Have any of you ladies?
Have a fabulous trip. We will all understand if you don’t post every day or at all. Everyone deserves a vacation.
Enjoy YOUR time!
❤️
I’m so excited for you! You are going to have the most amazing trip. We just came back from Singapore and it’s such a beautiful city. I see from your photo that you turned “left” on the aircraft 😉. Business class, especially on such a long flight, is the only way to go! Hopefully the little passengers behind you slept most of the way! I can’t wait to hear all about your trip and the clothes you packed, as well as your travel outfit. Safe travels and enjoy!
A tip for Bali, don’t miss the silver villages (what we’d call a district)! The handmade silver jewelry is fabulous! You can watch the artisans at work in many of them! I walked away with a necklace/earings set that I get so many compliments for. And you have to buy batik, of course!
Have a wonderful holiday!
Have a safe enjoyable trip. The headphones are one of the very first things I pack, and I keep and extra pair of earbuds in my laptop bag all the time as a backup. The crying baby thing happened to me just recently but it was a 3 hour flight, not so long. And I always feel sorry for the parents! I have a 4 year old grandchild and I can’t even picture an enclosed space with her! She’s really active! I give the parents credit for attempting the travel, LOL.
I’ve always thought of children as pretty portable but this is a long flight.
We lived in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and Bali were two of our favorite getaway spots. Have a great trip!
Safe travels dear Jennifer!
Thank you for being my favorite fashionista!
In my carryon flight bag I keep a tech bag with wired and wireless earbuds, a charging brick, and a holder so my hands are free and my neck is upright. In my flight bag I keep a cashmere pashmina because flights are freezing. I bring eye drops.
Smart!
Looks like first class? Even so, long flight. I find kids a good distraction- maybe? 🙂🤣. Looking forward to lots of posts, enjoy!
Business class. We decided to spring for it since it was an overnight flight.
What airline? It looks gorgeous even for business class! Not a US carrier I am assuming. . .
Singapore Air
Singapore airlines is fantastic especially their Book the Cook option. I always have the Lobster Thermidor and the chicken satays. You will not find more attentive cabin crew anywhere.
Bon voyage Jennifer, and have a wonderful time in Singapore and Bali – looking forward to reading about it when you return!
Bon Voyage!
Oh, my daughter has traveled from Australia with an infant and then, years later, with infant and toddler. We GRANDS couldn’t wait for them to get here! Yet, as a passenger, I get it!
Singapore is on our bucket list. The Gardens are the primary reason. Can’t wait to see your pix and hear about your itinerary.
I am sure you will enjoy your flight if that is indeed Singapore Airlines BC. The cabin crew and food are really top notch, but not a fan of the weird cubby hole on the side for your feet when lying flat. Hopefully the little passengers in front aren’t too ratty.. Enjoy and try their famous Singapore Sling cocktail. Nothing will disturb you after that
lol! I understand they are pretty strong.
I want to thank you for bringing the Athleta Endless pants to my attention. They are almost perfect travel pants–for perfection, I’d add another inch and a half to the length–as they don’t wrinkle and the leg opening is narrow enough that they don’t drag on bathroom floors. They also take up very little room in a suitcase. I got two pairs for a recent trans-Atlantic trip and was so glad I had them. Enjoy your trip! It looks as if you’re travelling in comfort.
I love the Endless Pants. They’ve become part of my travel and everyday wardrobe since I discovered them.
Have a wonderful trip! Looking forward to your posts and seeing all the cute outfits you brought with you.
