What to Buy at the Bloomingdale’s Friends & Family Sale

Loeffler Randall Desi Small Leather Crossbody

If you’re into sleek and simple bags, this crossbody is a winner. It’s the perfect size for your essentials, making it just right for those days when you don’t want to carry a ton but still want to look polished.

Frame The Corduroy Midi Skirt

Seasonally appropriate fabrics like corduroy and velvet are a great way to bring some texture to your fall wardrobe. This midi-length skirt in an espresso colored corduroy is going to pair well with booties, loafers, or flats. Top it with a fitted tee or a chunky sweater, and you’re good to go!

AQUA Amele Buckled Flats

I’ve been talking about the comeback of Mary Janes all year, and I’m seeing them absolutely everywhere. This pair is super cute with the double straps, which adds a fun update to the classic look.

Eileen Fisher Shawl Collar Wool Coat

This wool coat is from one of my very favorite brands, Eileen Fisher. It’s cozy without being bulky, and it has an understated elegance that will work for everything from casual outings to dressier occasions. It’s also available in a beautiful light gray called Dove.

FRAME Le Slim Palazzo High Rise Wide Leg Jeans

Wide-leg pants like these are still all the rage. I find they add an element of drama to my outfits that I adore, and they’re perfect for balancing out my broad shoulders. Just make sure to throw on a tucked-in or cropped top to highlight your waist.

Aqua Fair Isle Cashmere Cardigan

This cashmere cardigan has a classic Fair Isle pattern, which always makes me think of wintertime. You can wear it buttoned up for a classic look or leave it open over a solid tee or dress for an easy, cozy vibe.

Tory Burch Classic Loafer

I like how loafers balance out the bottom of my silhouette when wearing chunky sweaters or wide-leg jeans. These classic loafers from Tory Burch are perfect for everything from a day at the office to lunch with friends.

C by Bloomingdale’s Cashmere Cable Knit Drop Shoulder V Neck Sweater

If you need a new cashmere sweater or two before cold weather arrives, this sale is a great time to snag a few at a great price. This one checks all the boxes with a relaxed fit, v-neckline, and cable knit texture. Available in both dark brown and ivory.

Vince V Neck Cable Knit Sweater Vest

Sweater vests are great for layering. You can wear this one from Vince now on its own now, then wear it over a long-sleeved shirt or turtleneck when the weather cools down.

The Rambler High Rise Ankle Jeans in Act Natural

I’ve tried several higher-end denim brands and always come back to Mother jeans. They’re low-maintenance, meaning I can put them through the dryer and they come out unshrunk and ready to wear.

I never know what the appropriate length of my tops should be whether it’s a blouse, tunic, jacket. Further, my challenge is my 4’9″ height and broad shoulders and an ample tummy. I recently signed up for your blog and have not been disappointed…I don’t wear blazers but still found the article helpful and interesting. Thank you, Jennifer!

    1. Welcome to our community, Irene. I’m delighted you’ve joined us.

  2. Oh gosh, I hope you get credit for this, because I just clicked through and ordered 3 blazers. Two of them were ones you showed that caught your attention and one other I found on my own! Now please stop finding things I think I can’t live without!! But I do love a good blazer…

    1. I love a good blazer too. It gives me a boost of confidence while giving me a more polished look. Thanks for shopping through my links, I really appreciate your support

  3. I really like the sweaters and cardigans you’ve been showing. I’ve been noticing white boots. Is that a thing this year?

    1. I do think it’s becoming more popular this fall because I’m seeing more of them too

i’m really liking the cardigans and sweaters this year. Used your link to buy the navy combo cashmere cardigan from Bloomingdale’s. It seems perfect for work and to transition to “after work” events. Thankfully we no longer have to dress like men (suits with skirts from the John T. Molloy era) but it’s still challenging for 60+ women in senior positions. We don’t want to look frumpy but we have to be professional.

    1. Thank you so much for shopping through my links Kathleen. I appreciate your support! I remember those suits with skirts and just how stiff they looked! Polished seperates in softer fabrics, like knit blazers and sweaters are great options.

  5. Please please report on the Slade blazer! I’ve eyed it forever but have been reluctant because it doesn’t come in petite and I haven’t been able to try it on IRL. Also Nordstrom is price matching if you prefer silver buttons! (In the ponte material). I don’t mind hemming straight sleeves, but you can’t alter a too long torso!

  6. Hi Jennifer, in a way, I hate this time of year because all the fashion news is about clothes for winter… wool, cashmere, puffy coats. They look great, but many of us live in areas (I’m in Arizona) where the weather doesn’t change enough to make these heavy clothes practical. If you’re ever looking for ideas to post, I hope you will consider how to help us warmer climate ladies pull together a look that’s season appropriate without being too hot and heavy. Thanks! Jo

    1. That’s a great idea for a post. I think slightly deeper colors in lightweight fabrics are a great option.
