The Best Blazers for Women Over 60

Let’s discuss a wardrobe staple that deserves a place in every woman’s closet…the humble blazer. I’m a big fan of the polish, structure, and sophistication they can bring to an outfit. Blazers come in lots of different fabrications, making them versatile, chic, and easy to dress up or down. Plus, they’re a great transitional item to add to your fall wardrobe as the colder weather arrives. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one, especially if you’re petite like me, so I’ve rounded up some of the best blazers for women over 50, including some of my personal favorites.

I knew I wanted the soft structure of a blazer for the LTK Conference I attended last week, but I wanted something with a slight stretch to travel in. I added this washable ponte flex knit blazer to my wardrobe and a matching silk jersey tank to upgrade my jeans for a long day of travel. The color is called Adriatic, which is a deep blue with hints of deep green and a great neutral for fall.

Best Blazers for Women Over 60

Knit Blazer

NIC+ZOE KNIT BLAZER size M / NZT STRIPED TOP size M / NIC+ZOE STRAIGHT LEG ANKLE JEANS size 29 / TREASURE AND BOND SMALL SQUARE SCARF

Knit blazers feel like a cross between a cardigan and a jacket. I have several from Nic+Zoe that I love. This neutral one is made from a soft, stretchy fabric that makes it incredibly comfortable. I’ve been layering it over tees, and I love how easily it polishes up a casual outfit.

Caslon Relaxed Knit Blazer

RELAXED KNIT BLAZER size M / SLIM LEG ANKLE PANTS size 8 / PLAID ORGANIC COTTON TOP size

This relaxed knit blazer from Caslon comes in six great fall colors in a cotton/poly blend and is currently marked way down. I love the comfort of knit blazers, and this one is a great fall weight. This is an oversized fit, so you could size down for a slimmer look.

Textured Double Breasted Blazer

TEXTURED DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER size 8P / TIE NECK SHELL size PM / SLIM ANKLE JEANS size 8P

This tweed blazer is fully lined and beautifully tailored with gold-tone buttons and flap pockets. I don’t typically think of pink as a fall color, so it’s a refreshing look. It’s also available in ivory if pastel pink isn’t your thing.

Talbots Plaid Blazer

FAUX LEATHER PENCIL SKIRT size 8P / V-NECK SWEATER size S / LAKE TREE BLAZER SIZE 10

This plaid blazer is gorgeous. It’s an ivory with black pattern with black braid trim along the edges that gives it an elegant feel. It’s below hip length means I need the petite option more than ever in this jacket. This would be great over jeans or dressed up for work and fancier occasions. This misses is 27″ long, and the petite is 25.5″ long.

Nic + Zoe Around Town Open Front Knit Jacket

NIC+ZOE KNIT BLAZER

If you live a more laid-back lifestyle like I do, you may not have much need for a traditional blazer. This knit jacket gives off the same polished vibe, but it’s casual enough to wear over your athleisure.

Textured Blazer

TEXTURED BLAZER

This oversized camel blazer is perfect for those cool weather days when you need an extra layer without sacrificing style.

Wit & Wisdom Open Front Blazer

This Wit & Wisdom blazer has a relaxed, slouchy fit that gives the traditional blazer a modern upgrade. It’s an easy throw-on over jeans and a tee or a great way to tone down your office look.

Talbots Tailored Stretch Blazer

No matter the season, you can always find several great classic blazer options at Talbots. This one has lots of stretch for comfort, and it comes in lots of great colors, including a teal that I’m eyeing.

Talbots Refined Denim Double-Breasted Blazer

I’m a big fan of denim on denim, and this blazer has both a matching denim skirt and pants. You could also pair it with a camel trouser or colored chino, in case you aren’t a fan of the “Canadian Tuxedo” look.

Editor Blazer

I love the gold buttons and detailing on this Editor Blazer, and I was surprised to find that you can also get it in a sweater-inspired knit material here.

Oops! Bought the Caslon blazer in both navy and black ‘cause I couldn’t decide! I love a knit blazer, these were 50% off and they have pockets! 🤗

    1. They’ll be great for fall. And 50% off always speaks to me 🤣

Actually not so great, after I bought the blazers later in the day Nordstrom emailed me that both blazers were sold out. Bummer!

      2. I hate when that happens. They may restock

  2. I like blazers. They are great for casual and dressy.
Great post today. I am a petite so I don’t wear the oversized blazers, but like to see them on others.
    The best always

  3. As our winters can be very long and deem coats and jackets; on the most part blazers in different styles, fabrics with some being part of a two-piece suit are my ‘outer wear’ go to’s for the Fall Season. On that note; I do however have lighter weight jackets as well with one being a light weight quilted/collarless/dome closure one (similar design to the green Talbot’s one shown in your previous posting) that I also wear as a liner for a lightweight/unlined/50% Wool – 50% Polyester coat that has dropped shoulders to accommodate it, that can be worn on cooler days into mid December.

  4. Great post! I’m a big fan of Whit & Wisdom jeans, the blazer is on my buy list…you’re right a great blazer makes a great outfit…

  5. I don’t have a dry cleaner within 50 miles so everything goes in the washing machine. I wear cotton blend cardigans, white or denim jackets, sometimes it is a flannel shirt or a chambray shirt that is my favorite before it turns cold. Today is 72 degrees and perfect. Our casual rural mountain life doesn’t work with blazers. At least I have never seen one, except at the bank.

  6. I have discovered that I love to wear a blazer with my jeans in fall rather than a flannel shirt. The blazer gives me a more dressed up mature feel. My favorite jacket is a knit blazer I bought from Talbots. Great blog today!

    1. My favorites are knits too!

    2. I love the outfit with the dark wash denim jeans with the stitching on the seems crease , haven’t seen stitching for a few years like that and I am a fan of the slim fit straight leg. The cream knit blazer tee and scarf makes that a very smart casual outfit. The boots are great too x

  7. Love all these blazers. The pink blazer and plaid blazer outfits looked especially nice on you. Like the idea of the soft look.

  8. Love the ideas! Suggestion for one more. Check out the company, Liverpool of LA. Great jackets at lower prices!!

    1. Yes, the Liverpool line is great!

  9. I can recommend the J Crew Regent blazer if you like sharp shoulders and a streamlined minimal look. I’m to the point where I don’t even look if there isn’t a petite available. (Hello Madewell?) I don’t really shop at Talbots these days, but their petite blazers have always been an amazing fit. And I’m not tiny, I take an 8-10P. I have a suit in their travel fabric and it’s amazing.

    1. I concur about the Regent blazer. I love it! Thank you for mentioning Madewell. I increasingly need petites and love their modern aesthetic.
