Favorite Spring Finds From Talbots 2025 Try On

I wandered into the local Talbots early this week and discovered a mob scene! Spring fever, coupled with a sale, had ladies with their arms laden with new clothes lining up to pay. It was fun to see and hear them chattering with each other about what they were adding to their wardrobes.

If you’re new here, a try-on is when I go into a store and style their latest collection so readers can see what’s new and get some ideas for how they could wear it. I’m not shopping for myself and seldom buy clothes because I prefer to shop online. For size reference, I’m 5’4″, which puts me on the cusp of petite. I have broad shoulders and straight hips with no obvious curves. Talbots is a size-inclusive brand that carries clothes in sizes misses, petite, plus, and plus petite to 3X.

HAMPSHIRE STRAIGHT ANKLE PANTS size 6 / ELBOW LENGTH SWEATER JACKET size S

I paired this white and indigo sweater jacket with Talbots customer favorite Hampshire ankle pants in indigo blue. The sweater could be worn unbuttoned over a tank or tee, but I like it closed to wear on its own. The knit is a cotton blend that’s machine washable.

The Hampshire ankle pants fit so well that they came home with me. They’re made of an all-season stretch fabric with an invisible elastic back waistband that adjusts for your shape. I firmly believe elastic waistbands can and should be concealed, and Talbots does a fabulous job with these. They’re classic flat front trousers that will be a workhorse in any wardrobe…dressing up and down with ease. They come in this indigo plus 3 other colors, and the curvy fit is here.

CABLE CREWNECK SWEATER size S / NO-IRON WHITE SHIRT size 10 / STRAIGHT ANKLE JEAN size 6 / RIBBED TANK size M

This open-knit cable sweater is 100% cotton and comes in 6 colors. It’s very lightweight and perfect for spring. I’m wearing it with their perfect no-iron white shirt, straight-leg ankle jeans. I layered a coordinating green cotton tank under the shirt to give some dimension to the look.

Talbots has a lot of jean options this spring, so I’m hoping to try most of them on so that I can report back to you on fit, etc. These straight ankle jeans have a lovely, non-distressed, medium/dark wash, which I find the most versatile. They have a high waist and slim, straight legs, with classic 5-pocket styling. The curvy option is here, the plus is here, and the curvy plus is here. They’re a cotton blend with 1% spandex and feel fabulous on.

BELTED TRENCH COAT size S

This red trench coat is a showstopper, so I could not resist trying it on for you. It’s a warm-based red that will be great for those with warmer undertones. Read more about your skin undertones here. The fabric is a Tencel â„¢ Lyocell, linen, cotton, and spandex blend that will work year-round…and I love the slight stretch. It has classic double-breasted styling with a storm flap and welt pockets. This would brighten any and every day.

CHATHAM SLIM ANKLE PANTS size 6 / SHAKER STITCH V-NECK CARDIGAN size S / FRESH POPLIN COAT size M

This fresh poplin coat is one size too large for me, so it appears a bit sloppy and oversized. It’s fully lined and water resistant with flattering great raglan sleeves, and front welt pockets. The single-breasted styling is more flattering for many women, so it’s a good one and would be fabulous for travel!

I’m wearing it over these Chatham slim ankle pants in toasted coconut. They’re made from a cotton bi-stretch fabric with a smooth front and side zipper. These babies have 6% spandex, so they should hold their shape very well!

KNIT TWEED BLAZER size 6 / NO-IRON WHITE SHIRT size 10 / SLIM STRAIGHT ANKLE JEANS size 6

This blue knit tweed jacket has everything going for it. The soft blue and white tweed is a poly/cotton blend with spandex and feels amazing! It’s a great multi-season weight with silver-toned buttons. I love the diagonal edges on the fronts and the flap pockets. I’m wearing it over the no-iron white shirt I personally wear on repeat, and these slim ankle jeans.

These are a new slim leg style jean, for Talbots, and I love the fit! They’re 99% cotton with just 1% spandex and are so flattering on. This Bettina wash is classy looking and easily dresses up or down. My barely boot jeans (which I have in several washes) have always been my favorite Talbots jeans, but these may give them a run for the money.

LACE UP SCOOP NECK TEE size S / STRAIGHT ANKLE CUFF JEANS size 6

These ankle cuff jeans are super cute and almost came home with me…but I already have a pair of wide cuff jeans. I know expensive desgner jeans are a favorite for many women, d I have a few, but I have to say that Talbots jeans just fit me better than most…and you can’t beat the price. These are right on trend and very comfy in a mid wash that’s great for spring.

I paired them with this cute lace up tee with the nautical vibe that’s so popular for spring. I’m wearing indigo and white, plus it comes in sky blue and white. It’s 100% cotton with 3/4 sleeves and a straight hem. I draped the shaker knit cardigan around my shoulders.

TWEED DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER size S / NO-IRON PERFECT WHITE SHIRT size 10 / SLIM STRAIGHT ANKLE JEANS size 6

This tropical punch color tweed jacket grabbed my attention right at the door. It is such a fun piece. The cropped length will be perfect with wider leg jeans or pants and look terrific over this white denim midi skirt. I find cropped little jackets like this quite versatile. This fabric is soft, and the color of this one makes it a standout.

LACE UP SCOOP NECK TEE size S / SHAKER STITCH V-NECK CARDIGAN size S / STOVEPIPE STRAIGHT LEG JEANS size 6

Here, I styled the striped tee with these classic stovepipe jeans in light ecru. I think off-white jeans are a nice alternative to pure white because they have a softer look than can lean elegant. The leg is a straight fit without being slim, so it looks on trend but gives more room throughout the thigh. It’s barely off white because you can see how nicely it coordinates with this shaker sweater, which is labeled white. This cardigan is 100% cotton and comes in 5 colors. They call it a v-neck, which is not quite accurate, because it’s a crewneck shape that just doesn’t button until partway down.

Do you include blazers in your spring wardrobe?

I love the pink jacket on you and I hope it went home with you! I’m with your daughter, wear more color, it really brightens you up.

  6. I like the new slim jeans you’re modeling so might have to take a trip to the local Talbots. I haven’t shopped there for awhile because I was finding so many of their prints, shapes and colours too frumpy for me.

    1. If they don’t have your size in store, I appreciate you shopping through my links.

  7. I don’t wear blazers, preferring less structured clothing. My esthetic is elevated casual, so I lean towards cardigans. Thanks for a great post!

  8. That’s my favorite store. I am petite, so I get a lot of my clothes at Talbots. J. Jill is another store.

  9. What is the difference between straight leg jeans and stovepipe leg jeans? They look the same to me! Thanks so much for all the great posts. I’d love to know more about how you shoot your photos — no way I could change clothes in a back seat and come out looking band-box fresh every time. Happy weekend eve!

    1. Those stove pipe jeans have a wider leg and wider opening at the bottom. Some straights are very slim fitting;

  10. LOVE the pink jacket on you. I hope it came home with you. Next time I visit the store I am going to try those hampshire pants. Thanks for the tips.

  11. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you wear that dark green before, it looks amazing on you!

  12. I really like all these clothes! The pink jacket outfit looks so pretty on you. 🩷

  13. I have been looking forward to you doing a Talbots try on! I buy a lot of clothes from Talbots but mostly online, since I don’t have store nearby. My favorite item is the blue tweed blazer. I have a banquet coming up that I think will be perfect. My favorite item on you is definately the punch tweed blazer. I know you lean neutral, but you look fabulous in pink! My sizing question: you are wearing a size 10 no iron perfect shirt but the sweaters and blazers are all size Small. Should I size up in the perfect shirt?

    1. It’s personal preference. I like my white shirts oversized and haver large shoulders.

  14. I have two linen jackets that I live in during warmer spring days, however I find it hard to find spring blazers that are not lined in polyester. It can’t be more expensive to line them in cotton? This is an aside, but I have to plug Talbots customer service. The post office has lost a few of my items over the years, including a dress they lost last week, Talbots has been wonderful to deal with!

  15. Talbots always has at least one piece each season that screams my name. Thank you for sharing your finds.
