Weekend Reading 03.29.25

Some weeks are better than others, and mine was not stellar. I flew home to lots of stuff that needed to be done and ended up feeling like I had an eye infection coming on. Stress? Quite possibly, but I won’t rule out the impact of Mercury retrograde. I’ve been pushing myself pretty hard lately without making time for myself, and I’m feeling it. I also let my pilates fall by the wayside, which makes me feel sluggish. There’s something so therapeutic about stretching and strengthening your body, so my goal next week is to ease back into that, while I slowly chip away at things I have to get done.

I’ve also let my Instagram social media presence fall off, which stresses me out, because it’s an important part of my business. But here’s the thing, I’m an old school blogger and I prefer this to that. There’s no point in whining about it, but it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to…LOL, remember that Lesley Gore song? I’ve really dated myself now 😂.

  1. A big NO to the sloppy slouchy fisherman thing. May be great on others but believe it goes against all the rules about achieving flattering fit.
    Take care of yourself!! Hugs…

  2. That very pale yellow is lovely. I wish I could wear it without looking jaundiced. I have always loved Fisherman’s knit since I began knitting. It is challenging to knit but so much fun. One of the last projects I did was a little sweater for my great grandson. I really loved knitting. I purchased a pale grey Heather Fisherman’s knit sweater last fall for the winter. Please take care of yourself Jennifer. Time for me time.

    1. Thank you Sydney xo

  3. Good morning Jennifer! Sorry to hear you’re feeling a little less than your best. Can’t help but feel it’s partly all the work you do for us, your fans! I love your blog, and rarely go on IG. I don’t know how you manage everything, and then the other day you mentioned changing clothes in the back seat for photo shoots!! I hope you can recharge this weekend and feel better soon. Take care! I love your style, your personality, and what you do.

    1. You’re so sweet. Thank you Deby xo

  4. Hello – Thank you for all your wonderful information. I also have foot problems.
I will look into some of your suggestions. You made me laugh with the Leslie Gore song. Take care. Pam

  5. Hi Jennifer,
What color Clare V honey pot did you buy? I can’t decide between the natural or black. Thanks!

    1. I bought the natural. I loved the black too. All 4 colors are great but I thought the natural would be most useful.

  6. There are so many things to get done in Spring. Yard work mostly. I’m trying not to let my workouts go but now we are starting golf. Sometimes we just need a recovery day 🌸

  7. Stress, it causes so many ailments. Take time for self-care, Jennifer

  8. White Lotus is on Max, not AppleTV

  9. Good Morning Jennifer. You’ve sent some of that moisture in the form of rain/snow mix to Colorado. And we need it. The dripping rain outside sounds glorious as I sip my coffee and shop with you. I’ve published my food blog since 2009 and truly connected with your statement about being an old school blogger. I find creating content very fun, and social media to be a “job”. And one that I grow weary of. With that said, Pinterest is how I found your web site. So I want to thank you for that. After all, I wouldn’t have those Eileen Fisher knit booties in my closet without you. I like what you do on Instagram and it inspires me to do better in that space. I hope you get back to pilates soon, I missed 10 days in a row in March and it felt like such a relief to get back into the studio. I hope things slow down for you this week.

    1. Good morning Lea Ann. It’s nice to be understood! IG feels such a chore so I need to find a way to make it more enjoyable. My second pair of those booties showed up this week. I’m going to leave one pair here and one in Vancouver so I always have them, they’re that good! Thanks for your comment! Have a great weekend.

  10. Good morning, Jennifer. I find the soft yellow trend to be interesting, and I just bought a yellow charming sweater shell from Talbots to pair with my various navy and blue jackets. I think in small doses, yellow will freshen up some of my outfits. Easy way to create a new look!
