Weekend Reading 03.07.26
Happy Saturday, ladies. My trip to the orthopedic surgeon confirmed I have foot surgery in my future. I have a shoe insert from the Podiatrist that I’m wearing these days, but I’m comfiest in sneakers.

I think I’ll change up my outfits a bit to work better with sneakers, so I ordered a few new styles.
Bestsellers this week…what readers loved most:
- This Quince stretch cotton shirt was the bestseller of the week! I have a similar one I linked, but to be honest, this one looks better, and it comes in navy or black.
- This yummy Cream lipstick was a huge bestseller last week. I love the Pink 02 and the Plum 01. They go on smoothly and leave my lips feeling smooth and moisturized.
- This metal planter box and trellis combo was super popular this week. We ordered one, and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews back from readers who already own it, so that pleases me.
- This little roll-up travel visor was very popular this week. I ordered one in beige…hey, it’s me:) In fact, so many of you bought pieces at Tommy Bahama, it makes me think I should go back in for a try-on soon.
- This UPF 50 Front Zip Hoodie was discovered by and purchased by so many of you, I added it to my cart. Sun-protective fabric is such a smart idea for extra coverage during long days in the sun.
Highlights from the weekend sales:
M. GEMI is having a Friends & Famiglia sale with 25% off full-priced styles. It officially starts on Monday, but we jump on the sale with the code FF2026. I adore the quality and comfort of these handmade Italian shoes. Here are my favorites:
NORDSTROM cardmembers get an extra $20 for every $200 they spend…ends Sunday.
- These sparkly Moissanite earrings are so pretty with the stones on the inside of the back of the hoop…double the sparkle, and are 30% off.
- This Hanro tank is perfect for layering and marked down in the perfect nude. I like to wear them under white shirts for extra coverage.
- My one and only pair of red suede flats is on sale! They’re so comfy!
- I love the modern shape of this Staud raffia bag, and it’s 30% off.
CHICO’S has up to 40% off pants and jeans.
- The fresh blue-and-white striped, no-iron shirt I tried on last week is also marked down.
- These Girlfriend slim ankle jeans are so flattering and on sale.
ANN TAYLOR has a huge spring sale plus an extra 40% off sale items. Lest you think AT is only for career clothes, let me assure you their weekend collection is fabulous for a casual lifestyle. Here’s what caught my eye:
LAND’S END has up to 40% off, plus an extra 60% off sale with the code SPARROW, and 50% off some swim and apparel…basically, it’s a huge sale, including their classic canvas totes with the code SPARROW.
In case you missed it:
Thanks for reader and be sure to wear what makes you feel confident.

I have neuropathy in my feet and I never know what my night will entail as night’s are when the pain is the most intense. .
I am sorry you are having foot problems as well.
It certainly makes for searching for comfortable shoes.
I’m so sorry Jan, that sounds awful.
Jennifer, I’m so sorry about your foot diagnosis! I have severe arthritis and peripheral neuropathy in my feet and hands but no surgery would help. You look terrific in your casual clothes and I wear similar at less expensive prices. You are an inspiration to me, always. Nice to see Celia here as I also read Pamela.
Totally relate to the sneakers + orthotics situation. After bunion surgery and now the other foot acting up, Brooks shoes and orthotics or Finn Comfort Sausalito sandals are my only sure bets for walking of any reasonable distance. I have non-high-heel Eccos, Mephistos, Gentle Souls and Vionics for dressier occasions, but they are “limited engagements.” Sometimes it’s frustrating, but I’m grateful for my mobility!
I’ll have to try Vionics. Their arch is usually too high for me but I’ll give it another go.
What a relief it is to see full length pants available.
Yes!! I’m so tired of short pants.
I was just responding on Pam Lutrell’s blog how I can no longer wear any shoes comfortably except my sneakers with orthotics. She and I have sympathized with each other over our foot surgeries. And I do sympathize with anyone needing foot surgery, hoping you don’t have continued pain as I do. I’d love to be able to wear pretty dresses but I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing my Hokas with them so I stick to pants all the time.
Hokas and dresses aren’t my favorite look either. How about long skirts or maxis?
Ugh! Foot surgery 😠I am just offering my support as you work through this challenge. I’ve had 2. The second was more complicated and meant 6 weeks of no weight bearing at all. God blessed me with a wonderful care giver…. My husband. Wishing you an easy recovery.
Claudia
P.S. Get some yoga pants. Easy to get on and off and easy to pul up and down for bathroom trips.
My husband is a great caregiver too. We’re very lucky!
I feel your pain, literally. I also have fibromatosis in both feet as well as a torn plantar fascia in my right.
I have Duypetryn’s in my palms. Took a risk and had surgery but it came back, which is very common.
One Dr recommended surgery on my foot but a 2nd & 3rd opinion recommended against it. Considering what happened to my hand, I’ll pass on surgery for now.
Hoka’s with orthotics, Birkenstocks, Naot sandals, Ecco Yucatan, and Finn Comfort sandals work best for me feet. Naot Helm booties in the winter. The latter two have removable insoles so I can use my orthotics. I wear Hoka recovery slides as house shoes.
Circling back to osteoporosis, Reclast reversed my diagnosis to osteopenia (normal for a 71 year old like me). My doctors and I are very happy!
Good luck navigating these health challenges. You aren’t alone!
Thank you so much for sharing! I have Dupuytren’s in my palms too and the surgery I had was a mistake. Have you tried laser treatments? I was also told surgery was a no go.
I’m sorry you have it in your hands too. The two do go together: Duypetren’s and plantar fibomatosis (lederhosen)
I have not had the laser surgery or anything further after the surgery.
I hate the weakness in my hand and the little finger is bent just as much, or more, than before surgery.
I’m focused now on protection with proper shoes and not stressing my hands by using a tool to twist caps off.
Now if someone could develop Hoka comfort in a stylish shoe, ha!
Please share here if you find a solution or treatment that helps! Thanks Jennifer and I’m sending you lots of positive energy and a hope you find relief.
Thank you so much, Jan
Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear of your feet woes. At least sneakers are as stylish as ever. I keep seeing collages from minimal style people showing blazers and trousers with sneakers in addition to jeans and they look pretty cool. I wanted to mention Uniglo again, this time for their spf protective items in their “airism” fabric. “Inner wear” like tanks and undies, outerwear like a similar hoodie to the Lands End – all at half the price. I’ve had my stuff for years and it wears like iron. 32 Degrees is also good for layering tees and tanks. You think it will make you hotter in summer but as a scout leader who camps in 100 degree weather I’m here to tell you a wicking layer actually cools you off by evaporating your sweat. It also keeps the outer layer fresher, which is great for travel – or for an ugly tan scout uniform shirt!
