2026 Talbots Spring Fashion Style Event: Try-On & Sale Favorites

By the time March rolls around, my closet and I usually need a small reset. The heavy sweaters and dark winter layers have done their job, but the weather hasn’t quite decided it’s spring yet. Getting dressed in that in-between season can feel like a puzzle.

Talbots is running their Spring Fashion Event through March 15th, with 25% off sitewide and free shipping, so I stopped into the store this week to see what looked promising. I’m sharing a few of the pieces I liked best in the dressing room, along with a handful of other items from the new collection that caught my eye while everything is on sale.

My Talbots Spring Try-On Favorites

Now let’s talk about the pieces that really caught my eye during my try on. Some of these are classic wardrobe staples, while others are just fun pieces for spring.

Look 1: Neutral Sweater with White Wide Leg Pants

ELBOW CREWNECK SWEATER size S / WIDE LEG HERITAGE TWILL ANKLE PANTS 10 petite / TWILL UTILITY JACKET size S

Short-sleeve sweaters are having a big moment this spring. They give you the polished look of knitwear but still feel light enough for warmer weather.

This one works nicely with the white wide leg ankle pants because the sweater is slightly more fitted. White pants have a way of exposing every little thing the darker colors politely hide, so I always suggest going up one size in any white pants. When the top is slimmer and the pants are wider, it creates a really flattering balance. That contrast in proportions keeps the outfit looking modern instead of loose all over.

Adding the navy jacket adds some structure to the outfit and defines the shape a bit more, which works well when you’re wearing relaxed pants.

The navy twill utility jacket is a nice lightweight for spring, with an adjustable drawstring to snug up the waist for some shaping. It also comes in a rust shade.

Look 2: Blue Polka Dot Blouse with Navy Pants

NO-IRON POLKA DOT TUNIC POPOVER size S / SILK ROPE PATTERN SCARF /
WIDE LEG HERITAGE TWILL ANKLE PANTS 8 petite

This no-iron blouse stood out to me right away because polka dots are trending for spring. They always feel playful yet classic, especially when done in blue and white like this.

The slightly relaxed shape of the shirt gives it an easy feel, but tucking it into the pants defines the waist and keeps the proportions flattering. When you tuck a blouse into a higher-waisted pair of pants, it helps create a longer leg line.

Pairing it with these navy Heritage Twill Ankle Pants keeps the whole outfit streamlined. Navy and white is one of those color combinations that always feels fresh in the spring. This blouse would also look great with white jeans or light denim if you wanted a more casual look. I also tied this small scarf at the neckline here, which is an easy way to add interest without doing much at all. I brought this entire look home 🙂

Look 3: Denim Chore Jacket, Blue Stripe Shirt, and White Pants

WIDE LEG HERITAGE TWILL ANKLE PANTS 10 petite / SILK ROPE PATTERN SCARF

This outfit checks a lot of boxes for spring right now. Wide leg white pants are everywhere this season, and they’re such a nice change from the skinny styles we wore for years. The higher waist and relaxed leg create a long, clean line that instantly makes your legs look longer. I’m wearing a regular, which is supposed to be ankle-length, but is full-length on me.

To balance that wider silhouette on the bottom, the denim jacket adds some structure on top. Denim jackets are trending again this spring, especially in this classic medium wash that goes with almost everything. You can see more ways to style a modern denim jacket in this post.

The blue striped shirt underneath keeps the look crisp and classic. Stripes are showing up a lot in this year’s spring collections, and they pair well with white denim and lighter colors.

Look 4: Leopard Sweater, White Pants, and Classic Trench

LEOPARD ELBOW SLEEVE PULLOVER size MP / CHATHAM BI-STRETCH COTTON PANTS 10P /
DRAPEY TRENCH size S

Animal prints continue to show up everywhere this year, and this neutral leopard sweater is such an easy way to wear the trend. The pattern feels soft because the colors stay in that warm neutral family, so it almost reads like a textured neutral rather than a bold print.

Adding the trench coat pulls everything together. The longer length helps create a nice vertical line, and the tie waist lets you add a little shape if you want it.

Spring Accessories to Polish Your Outfit

I always like to look at accessories during the Spring Style Event because they’re an easy way to update pieces you already own without buying an entirely new outfit. You’ll also find plenty of great spring bags and shoes on sale right now.

Swimwear and Cover-Ups on Sale

If you have any warm-weather travel coming up, this is also a great time to look at Talbots’ swimsuits and cover-ups. Their swimwear tends to be very flattering and well-made, with supportive tops and comfortable coverage.

Other Spring Style Finds on Sale

A little brooch like this is such an easy way to add some personality to a jacket or sweater. It looks especially cute pinned to a denim jacket or blazer. Plus, you know how much I love bees.

If you’re looking for shorts for spring or summer, these 9 inch shorts are one of those easy staples that always work. They come in multiple lengths, depending on how much coverage you want.

This hooded jacket is one of those casual layers you’ll end up wearing all the time. The soft French terry fabric keeps it comfortable, and you can choose between navy or light blue.

These pull on travel jeans are a great option if you like the look of denim but want something more comfortable. I’ve shared about them before. The trouser style gives them a slightly more polished feel, and the Pike wash works with everything from simple tees to lightweight sweaters.

Since the Spring Fashion Event runs through March 15th with 25% off and free shipping, it’s a good time to take a look online if you’ve been thinking about adding anything for spring.

Now I’m curious… did anything here catch your eye, or are you still trying to convince your closet that it’s spring?

Hi, Jennifer, it’s been a while since I commented but I’m still reading your blog regularly. The white trousers for spring will be a trend I’m going to miss, because Every pair of white trousers or jeans I’ve ever bought ends up getting stained with something within the first few times I wear them. But there’s a lot of things that suit my personal style out there this year. I really love how you look in all the outfits from this try-on session. The bee brooch is adorable but I already have several vintage and antique bee brooches in my jewelry box. Can you give some advice about making the shift from a office/retirement wardrobe? I’ve just moved to working 3-days a week and will be retiring in 2027. I’m already removing the items that are too large (180 to 147 in 2 years!) but don’t want to replace all of them with work pieces. Thank you for all your good advice and the community you’ve built here.

    1. I would invest in some comfortable fabrics in casual shapes that you can wear now and later. Don’t get rid of everthing to fast, just slowly try new shapes and patterns Fabrics with stretch, waistbands with ease, and softer contruction. Congratulations on your weight loss, thats fabulous.

This is a great look for spring. I love that you selected the same creamy white pants I bought from Talbots! Love that scarves are back!! Yay!! I have kept my fendi scarves through several moves…this look is very flattering on you!!

  3. I’m tempted to try the white wide leg pants but I also have the problem of a larger waist and straight hips and thighs. I wear a 1.5P or a 2P in Chicos pants depending on the day and a little bloat. That is in straight leg jeans and in wide and trouser style jeans. Are Talbots waistlines forgiving like Chicos?

    1. If you choose the straight fit vs the curvy, you’ll have more room in the waist. Many of them also have elastic in the back wasitband which makes them incredibly comfy.

  4. I really like the striped shirt and the polka dot shirt. Something that’s always classic.

I was in Talbotsba couple of weeks ago. So many cute things that it was hard to decide but I got the navy Heritage twill pants and the red cardigan with the white buttons and the blue thread. I have alot of red, white and blue do will get alit of use out of them. I also love the white sweater with the flowers and the white sweater with the navy trim.

  6. Cute items. I’m still trying to figure out what my wardrobe/closet will be for spring/summer. I think I am in the middle of a style change, nothing in my closet or the stores seems to be speak to me right now. I am on a weight loss journey having lost 26 pounds and have about 20 more to go, so many of my clothes are getting too big/sloppy looking, so I am dealing with the baggy for the winter clothes and most likely my transitional items too.

    1. Congratulations! It’s a great time for you to pause because your new shape will feel totally different to dress. Buy one of two very inexpensive pieces to get you through and wait to see what appeals to you…don’t rush it. Let your style have time to evolve.

I love all those looks on you! I have a question on sizing, because I have hesitated on buying pants from Talbots without having a store nearby to try on. In buying petites, do you find that you need to size up? I notice that in some brands that is the case and some not.

    1. Yes, always with Talbots. If I am an 8P then I fit into a 6 regular.

      1. Grandma Judy says:

And I am a 14 petite and find they fit true to size. I am also a short waisted apple shaped and alot of time find that when pants fit in the waist they are too big in the hip and thigh. The wide leg pants usually fix this problem. Hope this helps

  8. I will be going to Talbots soon after seeing these clothes. They will be a nice addition to my closet.
Also, Jennifer you look fantastic, your face and
    hair are just beautiful.
    Greeting from North Carolina

    1. You’re so kind, thanks Kathy

  9. The Talbots 9” shorts are great. Grab a couple while they’re available! Very good length for us – provides enough cover without looking too long. The pins, scarves and belts are nice designs in this collection.

What did you take home? Love the denim jacket
Wondering if I really need another.
    Can’t wait to start shopping!
