Casual Elegance in Classic Neutrals Your Wallet Will Love
Nothing says summer to me like classic neutrals in easy shapes and breathable fabrics. These pieces are great building blocks in a casual wardrobe because their classic shape and neutral palette have a casually elegant vibe that you can mix and match easily. This classic little Croft and Barrow camp shirt is a soft, drapey rayon that couldn’t be easier to wear. It comes in six patterns and three solids. I opted for the white because I know it’ll go with everything in my wardrobe. The fabric is lightweight and opaque, which is a nice combo because it tucks in nicely without adding bulk around the tummy. This will also be cute worn open over a tank top or tied at the waist over a sundress.
I love, love, love these high-rise, wide-leg linen trousers. I’m wearing petite; regular length is here. Mine are a soft flax and white stripe, plus they come in three other colors. Their trouser styling steps the look up a notch from pull-on linen pants, yet they’re super comfy with an elastic waistband in the back. I bloused the shirt over the waistband; otherwise, you could add a nice woven belt like this. These nice shorts are made of the same linen fabric.
There’s nothing more classic than a pair of neutral espadrilles for summer. These Lifestride ones have a nice low wedge and a cushioned insole, so they’re comfy for long hours on your feet. This is my second pair of these exact same shoes because I wore my first ones out! They come in eight colors, sizes 5-11 in medium and wide widths. The straps are stretchy, so they just slip on and off.
I finished off this classic neutral look with a straw shopper tote that’ll be a workhorse all summer long. It’s made from paper straw which is softer, more durable, and more flexible than ordinary straw, which can tend to be scratchy. This is fully lined and comes in three colors. This bag also gets bonus points for straps that are long enough to go over my shoulder with ease.
Head-to-toe neutral outfits like this have a casually elegant vibe that looks more expensive than it is. They also have that coastal grandmother vibe so many women love, including me.
This neutral outfit starts with the same camp shirt as above… this time in black. I’m pairing it with these Sonoma Goods linen blend pants that have trouser styling and a fabric belt. I seldom like self-belts, but this one seems to work for me. These come in four great neutrals; I’m wearing khaki, which looks like a deep taupe to me.
The pants are a linen/rayon blend that drapes nicely. The website says they’re lined, but mine aren’t, so I assume it’s just the white ones, which would be very useful! They have a high rise and elastic waistband in the back.
I shortened these pants one hem length to wear with these flat Journee gladiator-style sandals. They have a back zipper and cushioned insole. These come in four neutral colors, sizes 5.5-12. I’m wearing the taupe.
I love how easily neutrals mix and match in my wardrobe. They allow me to get more wear out of each piece, and I never tire of them.

I bought those Lifestride you featured, very comfortable and will get lots of west out of them. Need to figure out how to spot clean them, the light color may be more difficult to keep clean

I took have a full array of cool linen, tencel and cool cotton (gauzy materials) in pants –along with cool tops. Hopefully they take me through August.

I purchased the Lands End linen pant you showed, they are great. Went back and got both black and white. I did purposefully size up in the white and am glad I did..had I not, the pockets would have been even more visible than they are. IF the pockets were in a nude/beige color they would not be visible. I left that comment when rating the product on the Lands End site.
So mnay brands make that mistake with pocket linings. I love these pants!
You always have such great clothing choices shown. I had just ordered the
Lands’ End linen pants in the grey and the brown colors and waiting for them to be delivered. Last month. I purchased a pair of wide leg linen blend pants in an cream/flax color. I think my linen/ linen blend pant purchasing is done for this year. Many of the linen pants I had the last couple of summers are now too big for me, since I’ve lost over 30 lbs since last summer and about 7lbs from my goal. Losing extra lbs is a good excuse to do more shopping.
