February Cruelty-Free Beauty Empties

Happy Wednesday ladies. I still haven’t taken photos of my new haircut but I do have a small video that I shared on Instagram about my February cruelty-free beauty empties that I filmed the day after my haircut. You can see what it looks like from the front, and I have a video in the works on how I style my hair so stay tuned.

Since I test out many. many skincare products, at-home tools, and makeup, I thought it would be fun to share my empties from February along with the products that make the cut and will get reordered.

I did one of these last month but I  flashed the items on the screen too quickly, so this time, I am listing them below.

Here’s a list of my empties from February, in order of appearance:

GrandeLashMD – I love, love, love this product but sadly can’t reorder it. It’s a lash serum that has made an amazing improvement in my lashes. My tube lasted longer than 12 weeks which makes it less expensive than it would initially seem.

VitaBrow ADVANCED Eyebrow Conditioner – the outer half of my eyebrows was non-existent. Over plucking and thyroid issues meant I needed to pencil in the outer eyebrow. This product has helped them all grow back. Sadly, they’re growing in white so I now use this…

Busy Gal Brow Tinted Brow Gel –  I use taupe which is the perfect shade for me. I simply brush my brow up, coating the hairs them brush them into place, where they stay all day. I no longer need to use a brow pencil. It’s truly remarkable!

Jane Iredale Lip Fixation – you’d think after using this every day for 8 years I could remember its name:) I call it Fascination in the video but it’s really Lip Fixation. The color I use is ‘Fascination’.

Agent Nateur Holi Stick Deodorant – I love this stuff and am finishing up my 6 or 7th tube. It has a wonderful fresh smell and lasts all day. Although I love this, I am replacing it with this…

Maison Louis Marie No.o4 Bois de Balincourt Deodorant – I’m thrilled to discover this all-natural deodorant that matches my favorite new Perfume. Both are clean beauty products and cruelty-free.

What did you finish up in February that you won’t be replacing?

Is there anything else you’d like me to make a video of?

Have a fabulous day!

  1. Hi Jennifer,
What a great post! I really enjoy your blog and this is my first comment. At 61, I can relate exactly to the loss of eyebrows (especially at the outer corners ) due to thyroid disease. I’ve had my eye on the brow enhancer you use for sometime, and it was good info to know any new hair might grow in white. So after reading your post, I decided to start with just color first and immediately ordered the Tarte Busy Gal Brows in ash blonde. There was a handy chart that helps you to select the just right color and it’s perfect. I let my blonde hair go to it’s natural silver after the first shut down last year and was having a hard time finding a brow product that wasn’t to dark or too light. Also, Busy Gal Brows really looks natural, covers all grays in the brow and is easy to use. Thanks for the suggestion, I used it for the first time today and my brows look great. One less thing to worry about! 🙂

I’m getting ready to get a haircut after avoiding hairdresser for several months due to Covid. Your new cut is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing side# and back…might want to copy yours!

  3. I have never seen one of your videos before so I was so excited to see this one! Your voice reminds me of my sweet coworker who I hardly see anymore because WFH.
Your hair looks fantastic so I’ll be interested to see how you style it. I still have thick hair that I am growing out but I know I’ll have to visit the hairdresser soon.

  4. I’m intrigued by the brow conditioner! I too, have very thin brows, mostly as a result of hypothyroidism. I never thought I could grow them back. Do you have to continue using the product after they grow back? It’s rather pricey for me, so I’m hoping buying it once would be enough.

    1. You do not need to reply to my comment. I read through the reviews on Nordstrom’s site & discovered that some have had the same great results you had, while others found no improvement. 🤔 I will just have to decide for myself. Thank you, Jennifer, for all your hard work and for always being kind and thoughtful.

    2. Yes, but this tube is lasting me a very long time. I have thyroid issues too

  5. Love the new hair style. Looking forward to the styling video. Will check out the brow product.

  6. I want to add my voice to the cheers for your new haircut.I was a strawberry-blonde now fading a bit. I’ve gone twice now to have my eyebrows tattooed she has used a reddish taupe dye and its lasted ten years both times. Fabulous

    1. That sounds fabulous.

I love, love, love your hair cut! I like Jane Iredale too, I use the lip balm for a little tint and unlike chapstick it doesn’t dry out my lips. I order it online and it comes packaged so nicely with a sprig of lavender.

  8. Jennifer, I LOVE your new haircut! It’s beautiful and youthful. Gorgeous!

I’m dealing with thinning hair and lashes too so will check out the serum. Thank you!

    1. I’m sorry you’re struggling with it too

  9. Love the info on the products and your new haircut. Since I’ve stopped dying my hair and am now nearly completely WHITE, I feel like I need help with new make up colors and, most importantly, APPLICATION! I’ve never been much for make up and don’t have too much skill that way. I’ve tried looking at videos on line but again, my skill is minimal. I’ve wanted to go to a make up professional to get some lessons, but the only thing I seem to find is people who do wedding makeup–not what I want. Does anyone have suggestions for how I can get some hands on teaching for some minimal make up for a now white-haired, soon to be grandma?

    1. I’m not sure it’s available right now, but I suggest you visit several makeup counters and let them create looks on your face. Don’t feel pressured to buy then go home and practice yourself.

  10. Looking good with your new do. I appreciate the product recommendations.

Jennifer, very cute new style! Do appreciate your sharing the products & may I ask how you manage to style the top of your head; with thinning for many of us, I would love to know how to get the uneven part & the up&over…might you do a video of that process?

    1. I am going to do a video very soon and share how I do it.

  12. Francesca B. says:

That is a beautiful hair cut Jennifer so pretty and chic! Wish my hairdresser was that good.
Love the products thank you for the recommendations. I was thinking it was false eyelashes time for me as mine are so small and inconsequential but now I know what to get, yeah!
Thanks for bringing the sunshine 🙂

    1. It took several months to see the results but they are so long! Be patient and good luck

  13. I’m always looking for tried and true cosmetics and am excited to try several of your recommendations, particularly the lash serum and brow gel. Thanks for sharing your experiences with these products.
Can you stand another compliment? Your hair looks great! I love the fluffy texturized top. Sadly, my hair won’t do that.

    1. You’re sweet, thank you. When you see how I achieve the “look” of fluffy, you may be surprised. It’s not helmet hair but it’s close:)

  14. Love your hair! You look younger!

Today’s post was very helpful. My eyelashes and eyebrows are practically non existent. Sad look. I’m definitely trying the products you recommend. I’m also anxiously waiting for your hair update. Medicine side effect has made my hair thinner but that’s totally another story.

    1. I am so sorry you’re dealing with thinning hair too, Carolyn. It is such a blow to our confidence

  15. Your new hair style looks really good on you and adds more volume.
I have not heard about ocular rosaces before. Have you tried Lumify for redness? I use an eye medication that makes my eyes red as well as my upper and lower lids. I can hide the top lid with concealers but not so much the lower – waterline is red too. Lumify temporarily helped me with the redness.

  16. After many years of hair in such quantity that it had to be thinned out at haircut time, I suddenly (mid sixties) found my hair thinning a lot on the crown, to the point where I had scalp showing if I pulled it back. After reading about Rogaine and speaking with a doctor, I decided to try it despite so many scare stories on the internet. I think, in general, people who have had a bad experience with a product are the ones to write in. After a few months of daily use, my hair is really growing back in. It is completely game changing for me, and at very little cost. I have had zero issues with irritation and it is not the sticky, greasy mess people complain about if you follow the directions. Just a suggestion that might work for other people.

    1. I’ve written about Rogaine many times and have had great results with the men’s 5% liquid. I do know many are concerned with potential side effects if they’ve got compromised health so it’s something to consider.
