The Benefits Of Copper Peptides and Other Musings
I love experimenting with makeup, skincare, body care, and hair care often. Rather than dedicate an entire post to my empties each month, I’ve decided to do them as they occur in my Monday Musings. Today, I’ve included the benefits of copper peptides for the skin, just to give it some context.
I’m just finishing up my second bottle of this NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 3, and it won’t be my last. It’s a collagen boosting serum that helps repair damaged tissue. This water-like blue liquid sinks into my skin in seconds and contains a mix of peptides, hyaluronic acid, and zinc.

I bought it to try for my rosacea and have noticed an overall brighter complexion. If I do get a flareup, it seems to resolve quicker, and the red marks don’t last as long.
I’m halfway through my second bottle of this NIOD Low Viscosity Cleaning Ester. I don’t pretend to understand how this works, this super gentle cleaner simply disolves everything! I no longer need to use Micellar water to remove my makeup before washing my face and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped. I’m going to try to decant some to bring on my trip this week…it’s that good.
I also ordered and tried this NIOD Fractionated Eye-Contour Concentrate. (who comes up with these names?) It was so unimpressive, I didn’t even finish the bottle.
I’ve gone through multiple bottles of this Nécessaire Body Serum and just love how it makes my arms and legs feel. It’s a hyaluronic acid serum treatment for the body that’s fragrance-free and cruelty-free. It soaks in rapidly and never feels greasy. If the furnace has been blowing full blast and my skin is really dry, I will top this with a moisturizer.
This Tower 28 SOS spray has been part of my skin care rotation since we were all wearing masks during the pandemic. It’s a Hypochlorous Acid spray that kills bacteria on my skin and helps with redness. The name sounds pretty scary but it’s incredibly gentle with strong antimicrobial properties. It’s used in wound healing and skin disinfecting.
My eye doctor has me spraying a tissue and wiping around my eyes with the Rescue Spray after I use my heated eye compress at night just to be sure everything is sanitary.

I spotted this Tower Skin Barrier Redness Recovery Moisturizer, and SOS Intensive Redness Relief Serum at Sephora last week and I’m extremely curious about them. I find stress really makes my rosacea flare up so I’m always on the hunt for natural ingredients that will help keep it under control.
Antartica
In other news, my daughter just returned from a wild adventure to Antartica! She has an amazingly adventurous spirit that reminds me so much of my mom. I briefly toyed with the idea of joining her but realized, I don’t have the same wanderlust that she does. I guess that gene skipped a generation.
Interestingly, most of her fellow travelers on this expedition were in their 60s, 70s, and older. Is this type of cruise something that would appeal to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

These save or splurge posts are always popular, so as promised, we have a new one today. They may feel a bit like a parlor game but they also point out that price is not an indicator of style. Let’s compare these two monochromatic winter outfits.

I may have written this previously, but I encourage you and others looking for a river cruise to check out Uniworld. I have sailed down the Rhone from Lyon to Arles, and the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, but my favourite was this past summer. It did not include a river, but the Venetian lagoon. La Venetzia is Uniworld’s recently redesigned ship which basically becomes your floating hotel while exploring Venice and local islands and villages. The excellent excursions are included and do not involve coach trips, except for one afternoon trip to a winery. An early morning visit to the Doges Palace, and an evening lighting of the interior of Saint Marks Cathedral means that guests are not part of the tourist crowds at all. Walking trips through Venice give you a true sense of this magical city, and the visits to Chioggia and Burano are so interesting. There’s more to discover but I chose to skip a couple of trips to pause and enjoy the ship, which is exquisite. My even numbered cabin was facing the Guidecca Canal, rather than facing the customs building dockside. So many types of boats going back and forth as you enjoy your morning coffee in bed! There was an anniversary discount, no solo supplement, as well as former guest discount. So very affordable. I definitely plan to return with my husband so he can see how wonderful the week was right on the water. Easy flights (through London) into Marco Polo airport. After visiting a mask atelier, on my last day, the tour guide arranged for me to have one final special event just for myself. Giacomo met me with his wooden speed boat ( James Bond style in Venice ) and we proceeded to go up and back on the Grand Canal on my solo boat trip, then winding through the smaller canals to deposit me back to La Venetzia. WOW! Worth the 120 euros for sure. During our previous visit to Venice in 2017, we stayed at the Kempinski San Clemente which is an island in the lagoon. Wonderful, but I see the price has indeed increased. Readers may not realize that Venice has decided to eliminate the large cruise ships close to Venice, with many stopping at Trieste ( on the Adriatic) with coaches bringing guests to Venice. Recently, some ships are allowed west across the lagoon to Marghera, a rather industrial port. This is to avoid the continual damage that their wake has been causing the base of the historic buildings. Venice is a treasure that must be preserved.

What an amazing trip you had! Our friend went on Uniworld snd loved it. I can’t agree enough about the huge cruise ships around Venice. There’s something disturbing about the monstrous ones being so close.
