Jeans On My Radar
Is the rumor of skinny jeans being “over” true? Only if you are over them. The truth is, women can and should choose the jean that flatters their unique shape and feels good on. A touch of trend helps to keep us looking current, but ultimately we need to buy what works for our bodies. I have a straight figure so straight and tapered jeans are on my radar this fall.
This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and Shopstyle.

I’m a true blue jean lover. A peek into my closet reveals more blue jeans than any other garment. Their casual vibe just works for my lifestyle and I love their versatility. The Nsale is on for a few more days and there are plenty of great deals to be had on fully stocked jeans, so I thought I would share what I bought.
TAPERED JEANS ON MY RADAR

The Perfect Vintage by Madewell is a favorite shape with an 11″ rise that is fitted through the hip and thigh. It’s heavier denim with a touch of stretch so they hold you in, but also mold to your body and have a tapered leg. For a day of walking and shopping the Nsale, these worked perfectly with a pair of comfy sneakers. I love these sneakers because they’re lighter weight than any other sneaker I own and very flexible. My little cropped cardigan is low on stock but other colors are available.

This pair of Perfect Vintage jeans are in the Ainsworth wash which is a slightly deeper wash in the same classic shape. They run a bit large so I went down one size to a 27 in these for a slimmer fit. My knit blazer is also part of the sale and a great casual topper over jeans. It comes in this blue or white, in regular and petite, sizes XXS- XXL, and is fully stocked
Madewell also makes skinnies, straight’s, crops, many in petite, regular, plus, and tall. These just landed in my shopping cart because a stovepipe leg is one of my favorite shapes.

STRAIGHT JEANS ON MY RADAR

I’m happy to see these Marilyn NYDJ straight-leg jeans as part of the Nsale in a new wash. It’s strategically faded but not distressed. They also come in a dark floral print that’s pretty if you love subtle florals. All NYDJ jeans have a special lift tuck technology that helps lift the rear and flatten your tummy. The denim is soft and very stretchy so always go down one size. They’re available in petite and regular here, plus here.

This silk and rayon scarf is large enough to wrap around your shoulders and whisper-thin so you can easily wrap it around your neck. I could not resist this color combo which will coordinate with most things in my wardrobe this fall. My cardigan is another great find from the Nordstrom brand. It’s beautifully made, soft and drapey, comes in 6 gorgeous colors, sizes XXS-XXL. I’m wearing the teal, in a small.

I was thrilled to see these Munro booties in the Nsale in this taupe this year and snapped them up immediately. I bought the black ones several years ago and love how comfy they are. Munros are sized from 5-11 in medium and wide widths so the fit is amazing. Being water-resistant is also great because suede can take a beating in the rain.

Nordstrom’s is my favorite department store for many reasons. Their customer service can’t be beaten plus they always have free shipping and returns, which is important to me. It’s hard to know what may fit when ordering online, so I can order both sizes and simply return what doesn’t fit, free of charge.

You earn points and rewards by joining the Nordy club (sign up free here) which helps you qualify for early access to this Anniversary Sale, plus you earn notes to spend on future purchases. They have free alterations, curbside pickup, beauty and style workshops.
You can also apply for a Nordstrom credit card here, and earn 2 points for every net dollar you spend at Nordstrom. I have a Nordstrom Visa card which earns me enough points to treat myself to something special every year.

If you’ve had your eye on something at the Nsale, check back and see if they’ve restocked your size. There’s still time to save before prices go up on August 8.
What shape jeans are you planning to wear this fall?

Ditto! Ditto! Ditto, to all those positive comments you received today! Will I ever tire off my jeans, don’t think so. I am 75 and still finding them the backbone of my daily wardrobe. A huge “yes” to that teal cardigan too!
Your inspiration has been beyond helpful for me. Also, I love reading all the wonderful comments . What a fun blog to follow!
Thanks, Jan. I’m so glad you’re here joining the conversation.
I love this look, the teal colors are among my favorite. I just ordered those jeans based on your picture! I also love the belt. Is it older or still available? I ove your style and look forward to reading your blog every day. Thanks so much.
It is new. I bought the belt at Nordstrom in Canada, but it’s not available in the US. If you’re in Canada, I can send you the link.
The teal sweater with scarf and the blue knit blazer outfits are great on you! I would wear them too!
My favorite 2 jeans at this time are my dark wash Talbots straight leg, & almost boot cut jeans. I’m in my late sixties so I’m pretty simple with styling, but yet stay modern.
When I had my colors analyzed years (MANY years) ago I was told that teal is one of the colors that flatters everyone. It must be the case, with all the favorable comments today from people wanting that sweater. It’s just beautiful, and that scarf is icing on the cake. So happy to see some jeans cut to fit over the tops of ankle boots (rather than skinny crops that end an inch or two above them—just cannot pull off that look, and it never made sense to me in the dead of winter). Thanks, Jennifer!
I have more jeans in my closet then anything else. I usually wear skinny jeans but love the straight jeans you were wearing. Those cardigans are awesome!
I am so pleased! After reading your response to Diane B , and the link for the sweater, Jennifer, I was able to order two…sequoia and teal… immediately for 🇨🇦 delivery. 👍All I found previously on the CA site was the very bright blue one.
Your combination of jeans, scarf, boots and sweater looks like you shopped my closet… albeit , in a smaller size !
Your blog is so much fun to read, and I always learn from your tips.
PS How are the Tulip shoes working out? Wearing my metallic grey pair presently.
I’m so glad the link worked!! I’ll do it more often now that I’ve learned how. I’m loving those Tulips. I need more colors 🙂
I love my jeans. They are timeless dressed up or down.
That teal sweater looks absolutely awesome on you.
What a great color for you.
Love the scarf also (so do tell how you tied it).
Other outfits were great too.
Thanks for great modeling. 👍
Thanks Lin! I’ve described in a few comments here but I will make a video gor you.
Thank you. 💗
