Memorial Day Event at Macy’s
With Memorial Day looming can summer be far behind? My new location means I need to update my warm weather wardrobe with some major shifts in color basics. The excuse to go shopping is always welcome and this one is no exception. With my dark clothes spending more time languishing on their hangers I needed to replace them with lighter options.

I started with a column of white. A classic white t-shirt is an indispensable part of my summer wardrobe. Most don’t last from summer to summer because sunscreen and deodorant often turn them yellow. That means I look for quality ones that are inexpensive. This classic scoop neck tee by Karen Scott is available exclusively at Macy’s. Its relaxed fit skims rather than cling so will be great for warm weather. It’s a perfect layering piece. I’m wearing the petite version and it also comes in regular.
I am a huge fan of the Eileen Fisher crepe fabric and excited to now have some in white. It travels beautifully and is wrinkle resistant. I have 2 pairs of these pants in black which are in constant rotation in my wardrobe. They’re part of Eileen Fisher’s “SYSTEM” which includes 8 simple shapes that will work with almost everything in your wardrobe. 
I never met a stripe I didn’t love and this striped tunic is no exception.
It’s made from a hemp and organic cotton blend that will keep me cool on even the hottest days. The exaggerated shirttail hemline gives it swing as I walk and keeps it from looking boxy. I am wearing the petite medium and it’s also available in regular length.
SHOP THE LOOK
Just because it’s warm doesn’t mean you have to give up the polish a silk scarf can give your outfits. When the temps go up I often switch my scarf to the handle of my handbag, tie around my hair or wear it as a necklace. 
This is a simple as tying one, two, three knots and securing at the back of your neck! I added this Dotty silk square to my collection because its 4 colors make it versatile to coordinate based on how I tie it and as with stripes, I love polka dots.
The teardrop-shaped hoops are a nice alternative to standard hoops and angled so they face forward to show the contoured shape.
I finished off my look with these braided wedge sandals by Vince Camuto. I love the tiny lift I get from this demi wedge that is comfy enough to wear all day. I resisted my impulse to go with the black version because this neutral taupe will coordinate with more of my new pale wardrobe.

I am liking the duster look and it looks great on you. I have a light blue linen shirtwaist dress I bought a couple years ago that I have now worn over white pants and tank. We should all check our closets for dresses that can be worn this way!
