My Favorites From Talbots February Travel Capsule Collection

Talbots sponsors this post. Thanks for supporting the brands that work with AWSL.

This month, I fell hard for Talbots Travel Capsule collection. If you’re not familiar with them, these micro collections offer mix-and-match separates that are incredibly versatile, whether you’re hitting the road or looking stylish in your own neighborhood.

AIRKNIT STRETCH FULL ZIP BLAZER size S c/o /COTTON TURTLENECK size M / NO-IRON PERFECT SHIRT size 10 /HIGH-WAIST BARELY BOOT JEANS size 8P / BRITTANY KNIT SNEAKERS c/o

Since this Airknit stretch blazer arrived, I’ve reached for it more times than I can count. The soft, stretchy fabric feels as comfy as a sweatshirt, but the tailoring and details elevate the look. It has classic blazer styling with structured lapels and a front snap closure. There are patch pockets in front, which I always appreciate. It also has a removable hooded dicky in a navy and ivory stripe that adds extra coziness. Here, I’m wearing it with my high-waist barely boot jeans, which I now own in 3 washes. These are as classic as can be, and I reach for them often.

What’s better than a no-iron white shirt to travel in? This Perfect Shirt has been a key player in my wardrobe for many years and always looks crisp and fresh no matter what the day holds. It’s just sort of perfect :). I layered a navy cotton turtleneck under my shirt for some extra warmth because, as you can see, there is snow on the ground here. These little turtlenecks are such great basics for cold weather because the cotton breathes but keeps you feeling cozy. They come in 5 colors, so they’ll go with everything.

Here’s the Airknit jacket with the striped dicky buttoned-in. I love how it adds some attitude to the look. The bottom of the sleeves have a rim of ivory, which ties the look together and makes it appear you have a long-sleeved top under the jacket. I found this ran large, and the small is perfect for me, so I suggest you size down. I’m wearing it over my pull-on travel jeans, which you’ve heard me rave about several times. They’re a pull-on style with a stretch waistband and seaming down the front, which helps elongate the look of your legs.

This flare jeans has a wide, stretchy waistband that lies flat and holds everything in. The fabric is a cotton/poly blend with 2% spandex. My size was sold out in petite, so I went with a misses and simply turned the hem under once. If you’ve been tempted to try a wider leg or flare leg jean, but they all seemed aimed at the young, these are the ones to try. They also come in a deeper wash here.

You know how important comfy shoes are for me, and these Brittany Knit Sneakers did not dissapoint! I think they’re part of the T by Talbots collection: a reliably comfortable and sporty collection for your active lifestyle. These sneakers have a memory foam footbed (yay!) with arch support, but their most important feature to me is that the upper is a knit that stretches and doesn’t pinch my bunion. I took my regular size 9.5, and they fit like a dream. I don’t even have to untie them to slip them on! These come in 4 colors, sizes 5-11. If you want a real slip-on shoe, they also make this slip-on sneaker in the same material.

FAUX LEATHER CROPPED JACKET size 8 / FLARE LEG PULL-ON TRAVEL JEANS size 6 /

I couldn’t resist this Faux Leather Cropped jacket on my last visit to the store. It’s a cropped length which would look fun over a longer top…unless you love tucking things in. The faux leather is a deep indigo and buttery soft.

It’s a great little jacket for spring weather, which is not that far away.

Talbots makes modern, classic clothes women have come to rely on for mood-boosting colors and comfortable, flattering fits. They are a size-inclusive brand we know will capture the excitement of each season with on-trend looks that fit a mature body.

  1. The knit blazer and travel jeans look comfortable yet stylish.
I really appreciate the hard work involved in putting together your blogs. Thank you

    1. Thanks for being here.

  2. Dee Dillard says:

Love your blog, Jennifer. I’d say 85% of my wardrobe is from Talbots. I like the classics, and much of what I have is more than five years old. I fill in with a few new pieces each season.

    1. I’m happy to hear that Dee, thanks!

  3. I love the way you put your outfits together! I had an appointment with a stylist at Talbots the other day, and she was so helpful in helping me put together some pieces that I could mix and match to get a number of outfits with colors that are flattering for me. I know you are experienced as a stylist yourself, but for those of us who are not, the free offering of the stylist service at Talbots is absolutely wonderful.

    1. Styling services are so helpful!

  4. You look great in all of your outfits today. Too bad you couldn’t wear your warm coat, gloves and hat today. It is 22 degrees out and snowing here in Colorado. Please feel free to do indoors try ons during the winter. I hope you don’t get the virus that is respiratory for a week and has turned into GI today. Ugh! Reading and TV for me with my throw on and my feet up today.
When I was very thin in my younger days, I loved Talbots. But now at 136 pounds but still have a larger waist, they just don’t fit me.

    1. Oh no, Sydney!! Feel better soon xo

  5. I bought the travel jeans and just love them!! They were so comfortable right from the start and plenty long for me! The knees don’t bag after several wearings and they came out of the washer & dryer just fine. Now that knit jacket is calling my name!

  6. I really like Talbots as there is still a store in Edmonton. Thanks for sharing your favorites ! I’ve purchased the faux leather jacket & wear my high-waist barely boot jeans on repeat . Thinking I will buy the flare leg pull-on’s for an upcoming road trip . Your hair looks great ! I have to re-watch your video on thinning hair to get tips on what you do . You didn’t look cold at all . Good job !

    1. LOL, it was soooo cold that day

  7. Great looks! I ordered the AirKnit blazer with the stripped dickey, should have it by Feb 14. I’m really looking forward to it’s versatility. Fun fact, I took a Talbots survey and won a $250 gift card, wasn’t expecting that perk…Happy Valentines

    1. Wow, that’s fabulous Nancy. Congrats

  8. Do you find the soles to be slick in the Brittany Knit Sneakers? Some of the reviews mention that. I recently took a fall in my beloved slip on Keds. I tossed out all 4 pairs that I own. Didn’t even want to donate them knowing someone could do the same. Looking for replacements with laces.

    1. I did not find mine slippery at all, but they don’t have a big tread so it would depend on the surface.

    2. That’s a shame. I buy non-slip shoe pads on Amazon for almost all my shoes. I put one on heel area and one in toe area of sole. They work perfectly.

      1. Great idea, Colette

  9. I love the outfits! Are your high waisted barely boot jeans the Brea wash? It looks so much darker on the website. Thanks!

    1. No I have the Hanover wash.

  10. Laurie Tillett says:

I too have horrible feet (botched bunion surgery on one)….so am always looking for a soft “moldable” sneaker. The Rothy’s ones rub my baby toe, but I found Arcopedico sneakers on Zappos. Terrific! Soft knit uppers, great arch support, a zillion colors.

    1. I loved my Arcopedico shoes.

  11. Love the faux leather jacket on you. It’s very flattering. Wish it came in some warmer colors …. Maybe in the fall ?
I like Talbots and used to rely on them pretty regularly, but anymore it’s kind of hit or miss for me. I’m wishing stores ( not just Talbots) would carry sweaters and tops with set in shoulders again. The dropped shoulders not a good look for everyone.

    1. I’m starting to see more set-in sleeves thank goodness.

  12. Good Morning Jennifer. Several “gotta have’s” here. The travel jeans and knit blazer with dicky look really good on you. I’m curious about those knit shoes, will have to check those out. Are they similar to the Eileen Fisher Purl booties? And yes, I’m a Talbots fan. At my Talbots the ladies are always so friendly and enthusiastic …. always a pleasure to shop there.

    1. These are even stretchier than the Purl booties. Very comfy.

  13. Not a fan of Talbots anymore but I know most here are. I commend their size range. I do always enjoy your try ons! We all don’t have to like the same things! 😉

    1. Variety is what makes our styles so unique. It would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things 😉
