Pre-Spring Outfit Ideas from Talbots
Spring may still be a little ways off, but the new arrivals at Talbots are perfect for transitioning into the season. Pre-Spring Denim Arrivals at Talbots
Classic Jean Jacket
I always keep a denim jacket handy, especially when the seasons start to change. It’s perfect for those days when it’s not quite winter anymore but not fully spring either. You can’t go wrong with a Classic Jean Jacket like this, but Talbots also has some fun updates, like this tailored denim jacket, this denim trench and this refined denim blazer.
I lean towards a classic everyday wash in my denim jacket, but if you prefer some fun color, this one comes in a great green, pink, or fuchsia.
These gray trouser jeans are fabulous for spring. Both the color and shape are on trend and the fit is terrific. They’re a cotton, polyester, lycra blend with enough stretch for comfort, but not too much so they’ll keep their crisp shape. I went for a double denim look with this denim popover shirt. This has a cropped shape so it was easy to tuck in or would also hit high hip over your waistband.
Last week, I shared these super comfy jeans in a medium blue wash. Yesterday, I tried them on in this deep oxford blue wash. I’m seeing a lot of this non-faded, non-distressed denim for spring and I love its modern vibe! The front seam elongates the look of your leg and the flared leg is very flattering.
I’m styling them with this striped long sleeve tee, and Collarless Jean Jacket. I love denim jackets without the bottom band because they’re not as stiff and much more comfortable.

Stretch No Close Blazer
A classic navy blazer is perfect for spring. This one has a hint of stretch with it’s tailored fit. Also available in Ivory, Spring Lilac, and Mulberry Wine.
Tweed Jackets
Talbots is famous for their stylish tweed jackets which are great for year round wear. This collarless tweed jacket is in a spring like blend of ivory with pinks and blues in the weave. It’s rich texture is dressed down by the frayed edges which give it a relaxed vibe so you can dress it up or down.

Colorful Sweater
Even if it’s still cold and spring feels like it’s a long way off (depending on where you live), adding a fun pop of color can do wonders to brighten your mood. This sweater comes in this happy coral and several shades of blue that will keep you feeling cozy even when it’s nasty outside.
Ribbed Johnny Collar Pullover
This top also comes in several bold shades that are perfect for adding a little color to your late winter/pre-spring wardrobe. The Johnny collar is very on-trend, and the ribbed texture adds a nice detail.
Ecru or Ivory Pants
Ivory is a great color to help you make the transition from winter to spring. It’s a bit softer than a bright white. I tried their ivory jean trousers earlier this year. They are a soft natural shade that is neither warm nor cool-toned. The fabric is a weight denim and the trouser leg has a front seam, which adds some structure and elongates the look of your leg.

Even though it may a minute until you wear these, I’ve learned it’s always best to buy shorts at the beginning of the season. This is when there is the biggest size and color selection!

We are also members of Life Extensions and we have many of their supplements that we buy on their super sales which pays for the membership. The magazine they have has great articles in it.
Thank you for this one. I am definitely going to look into the dark denim jeans and the travel outfits. I seem to have a hard time with sizing at Talbots as I’m often between a medium and a large. Also, I appreciate when you tell us which length jeans you have on as I am just over 5’4 and length can be hard.
I would be interested in more comments about fabric quality – for travel, packing, laundering and fit on mature bodies. Some fabrics are better than others. Some photograph well, but don’t wear as well. If someone is trying to develop a capsule wardrobe for travel, I would be interested in recommendations that incorporate practical fabrics too. Items that really hit it out of the ballpark – I find that every new collection has only a few.
Love me some Talbots! The gray jeans were my favorite. They look much nicer on you than they do on the Talbots photo. I plan on checking those out when I am there later this week.

They have discontinued it for some bizarre reason! My husband and I tried their alternative and it’s not as good. We’re still sampling alternatives and will let you know what works as well.
