Soft and Muted Outfit

Some days you want to be noticed and other days, you prefer a more subtle outfit. That doesn’t mean you want to fade into the scenery, but you want to make less of a statement while still looking nice. Today’s ootd is just that. A soft and muted outfit with a little shine, and a little flow.

As always, you can click the red text for more info and to shop the item.

Clothes and the colors we wear have a strong influence over the way other people perceive us. They also influence how we think and feel about ourselves. Softer, muted colors leave a quiet impression and feel gentle to wear.

It’s funny, but the website describes this wrap as bold, yet I find it soft and muted. It makes a gentle statement to me, perhaps because I’ve paired it with quiet colors. I like that this ruana has stitched openings to put your arms through because it helps it stay in place better than wraps with no structure. It’s a muted blend of warm and cool tones so it would flatter many women’s complexion.

It has some soft animal print,  mixed with soft sage and what they describe as a status print, which I take to mean patterns you would see on designer scarves. It’s a casual look with an elegant vibe that isn’t fussy. This wrap would look equally at home over blue jeans and a sweater with sneakers. It would also look great over a  sweater dress with suede knee boots.

The blouse is a pop-over style with a few buttons down the front neck and pleats in the front for a feminine shape. Its ecru color is soft rather than pure white so it has a gentle look as well. It comes in sizes 0/2 – 20/22. I am wearing a 4/6.

I chose a simple strand of pearls, similar here,  that have a soft luster and would not compete with this lovely Foliole Brooch. I’m so proud to share that Dean Davidson is donating 100% of the proceeds of each brooch sold, to the We Matter organization which is dedicated to providing hope and support for Indigenous youth. You can read more about the We Matter campaign here.

The chocolate pull-on jeans are a nice break from blue denim which I’m feeling a bit tired of. It’s nice to mix things up and I’m finding that colored denim, corduroy, cotton twill, wool, and knit pants are a great option. These come in 6 gorgeous colors in regular, petite, and tall, sizes 0-20. I am wearing a 6.

My choice would have been a soft brown or taupe, suede flats, but I don’t own those so I paired this look with these platinum ballet flats and think I like this combo better! It subtly picks up the special brooch, the gold tones in the wrap, and my hair color.

*Style Tip- Women should always own a pair of shoes that match the color of their hair because they will go with everything in your wardrobe because they match you!

Today is the last day of Dean Davidson’s private 30% sale with the code DDVIP30 at checkout. If you’ve had your eye on something, today is a good day to treat yourself.
