Weekend Reading: 04.19.25
Happy Saturday! We’re expecting a warm, sunny weekend, and I’m so ready for it. It’s been a crazy week for me, with my husband’s phone breaking, some health surprises, and way too little downtime. I feel the need for a vacation, but not a physical one, just a mental one. My friend Carol says she’s learned not to stress about things she can’t control, and it’s something I need to work on. I am a teeny, tiny control freak, and my perfectionist tendencies often add to the stress level. My AAA personality has me running in high gear too often and it’s not doing my health any favors. I have some plans to take a mental vacation, and would love to hear how you do it. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Here’s what I wore when I took my husband to the doctor and then to the Apple store last week. (They wouldn’t fix his phone on my say so). It turned out his phone was dead on arrival.
Crossed My Radar:
- I have my eye on this gorgeous bag. It comes in several colors, but the Ivory is so pretty, and the price is great!
- I agree with these 7 things people over 50 should do everyday.
- I’m all of a sudden wanting pink in my wardrobe. The butter yellow was a fail, so I’m looking for pink. This lilac linen shirt isn’t pink, but wow, it’s so pretty.
- I was ridiculously excited to spot a beautiful Bobcat wandering in our backyard. It was probably hunting the cute bunny that’s been around too…I hope the bunny is quick.

I know you enjoy audiobooks, the entire series of the Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osmond is excellent in audio. It will make you laugh and appreciate how vital we are as we age. And I can’t wait for the movie. It will relax you and make you giggle.
Thank you Sharon!
I can relate to what you’re experiencing as a Type A personality myself and also as psychotherapist – we all have a mental and physical limit we reach with the stressors. I highly recommend an excellent book by Dr. Aditi Nerurkar titled “The Five Resets” since it is well written for people like us who push ourselves hard and reap the negative consequences of stress overload and burnout when the brain is in a constant state of sensory overload which can cause both mental and physical health issues. The information provided in the book is very helpful for learning how to understand and support the mind-body connection, and reset the brain’s stress response. Thank you for the excellent posts, recommendations, etc. and all the work you do to provide great style information.
Thank you, I will check it out!
Sometimes you just gotta wonder about people. I shook my head at your comment in the email about Amazon card, but then unfortunately I have heard similar tales from another blogger I follow about the difficulties she has experienced with people on her blog. And you are both women talking to other women. And mature women at that. It is a strange world these days. I am sorry you’ve hit this issue Jennifer. Hang in there! We do appreciate you. 💓
