Weekend Reading 12.20.25

WEARING – TURTLENECK on sale / BOILED WOOL LONG VEST on sale / MOTHER FLARE JEANS / ZIPPERED TOTE BAG / SIMILAR KNIT BOOTIES / HANDPAINTED SILK SCARF / EARRINGS / EYEGLASS FRAMES

I had lunch with my friend Carol this week, and I noticed that she was reading on her Kindle when I arrived. It looked like such a smart thing to do. I’ve tried one before and had a hard time getting used to the back lighting…but it certainly looks easier than reading on my phone, which I’ve done on flights before. She showed me how she adjusted the lighting, so now I’m tempted to try one again. I know many of you love them, so honestly, how hard can it be for me to adjust?

Shopping to consider this weekend:

If you’re online shopping for gifts this weekend, there may not be too many options that will deliver in time…but there are lots of new fun things in the store because they’re already stocking spring merchandise.

  • I tried on this pretty soft pink suede jacket and it’s beautifully made. I love the finishing details like suede covered buttons and gently rounded collar.
  • I also spotted this faux fur jacket in the pretitest almod cream shade. The funnel collar is super popular this year and will keep you toasty warm.
  • If you’ve got difficult feet like I currently do, these velvet slides would be fun for entertaining at home or holiday parties with a pretty pedicure.
  • My Rag & Bone Slade blazer is marked down, which I can highly recommend. I needed the sleeves shortened and Nordstrom altered them from the shoulder which maintained the button detail on the sleeve. It worked brilliantly.
  • Talbots looked pretty cleaned out at the store, but online is still well stocked. They have 40% off everything, so that’s something to consider because new spring merchandise in coming in.

Have a fabulous weekend and be kind to yourself…it’s a stressful time of year.

I love Kindle, have had one for years. One of the things I like other than having lots of books “packed” for vacations/travel is that I can try a free sample of a book I’m thinking about and read enough of it to see if it’s worth buying. Plus I read in bed at night and don’t have to have a light on to see, so my husband can sleep peacefully in the dark. It’s also great at the beach, no glare, easy to read.

  2. Jennifer, I love my Kindle Fire and highly recommend.
Thanks so much for the gift tips! I ordered the heated shoulder warmer for my husband. He’s going to love it!
    Merry Christmas!

  3. Please keep us updated on the kindle dilemma. I tried the original when it came out and didn’t like it that much. I’ve been considering trying a newer version, so would love your input.

  4. I second everything good others have said about a Kindle or iPad. I love the look, feel and smell of a “real” book, but I have converted to doing most of my reading on my iPad, along with all the other things you can do on it. It goes everywhere I go! I keep it on black background with white font and it’s so easy on the eyes, especially reading in bed at night. How else can you travel with hundreds of books at your fingertips?! Merry Christmas, Jennifer! Thank you for all that you do to smarten us up, physically and emotionally!

    1. Merry Christmas Deby!!

  5. I agree with you that a column of color is comforting and lengthening. It’s a win-win!
