Casual Holiday Classics with Frank and Eileen

Frank & Eileen sponsor this post. Thanks for supporting the brands that work with AWSL.

My casual lifestyle calls for comfy, easy-care clothes that fit a variety of occasions. Our festive activities this year are out with friends locally and at home with family, so I’m leaning into classic shapes I can elevate with accessories and then style for every day after the holidays. Today, I’m dressing up some casual holiday classics with Frank and Eileen.

VICTORIA SUPERLUX TUXEDO SHIRT size XS c/o

This holiday season, Frank & Eileen has introduced this Victoria Superlux Tuxedo Shirt to their collection, and is it ever fun! It’s a collarless style with a woven jacquard bib section in an oversized shape that’s perfect over narrow pants. I went with simple white, but it also comes in several two-tone combinations that are more casual and fun.

The Victoria is 100% cotton with a substantial feel, which holds the structure nicely. I love the longer length, which is perfect for wearing over slim pants or even leggings because it covers your lady parts and backside. I have my eye on the red or green stripe with a white bib, which I think would be fun over jeans with some white tennies. It’s always fun to dress down elevated styles because it keeps your wardrobe more wearable, and things don’t sit idle when you could be having fun wearing them.

To dress up this white tuxedo shirt and slim black pants, I added my granny’s costume earrings and necklace, which I was so fortunate to inherit from her. These remind me of emeralds and diamonds, so I always pull them out this time of year because they have enough sparkle to help me feel festive.

I popped on this Kane Capelet Pullover, which has an oversized drawstring hood and continuous sleeves. This cozy piece comes in 14 colors and one stripe…I’m wearing black, to “bookend” with my pants and shoes. Frank & Eileen calls their triple fleece the crown jewel of their knit collection, and I would have to agree. It’s my favorite. All my pieces come out of the washer and dryer looking like new and just a smidge softer each time. MURPHY SUPER STRETCH BILLION DOLLAR PANTS size M c/o

I’d read glowing reviews of these Murphy Super Stretch Billion Dollar Pants and finally decided to try them. They do not disappoint! These are high-rise, skinny-fit pants with pull-on styling and a faux fly. They have working front pockets (YAY) and faux back pockets, which keep the silhouette slim under your tops. The delicate front seam helps to elongate the look of your legs, and the cotton with 12% spandex means they will never bag out or lose their shape. The 24.5″ inseam is perfect for me and will also tuck into knee boots nicely.

IZZIE TRIPLE FLEECE SWEATSHIRT DRESS size M c/o

What happens when you elongate a Frank & Eileen triple fleece top? You end up with a super comfy sweatshirt dress that’s a chameleon you can dress up or down for the holidays. This Izzie Sweatshirt Party dress is made from their 100% cotton luxurious triple fleece fabric and sewn in sunny California. Brown is a new favorite this fall, so I chose this yummy Irish Chocolate color…and it also comes in 6 other shades.

This would be equally fun with some tights and flat shoes, but here I added chocolate knee boots, a vintage pin, a plaid scarf, and my grandmother’s Art Deco earrings to give it a festive vibe.

The Izzie Dress has a funnel neck with hand-cut raw hem and edges that roll ever so slightly. It’s 39″ long, which they describe as a mini, but it’s the perfect mid-knee length for me. This sheath shape is great for dinners out because it skims the tummy and is super comfy to sit in. You could also belt it for some more figure definition.

Frank and Eileen is an investment in longevity for your casual wardrobe. I feel great adding them to my wardrobe because they’re a woman-owned certified B-Corp leader in the slow fashion movement who prioritizes the planet and everyone involved in their production process. Their Giving Pledge commits $10 million over the next decade to educate future female leaders.

  1. The brown dress is way outside my budget, but I’d love to find something similar at a more affordable price.

Your zebra print purse also caught my eye! Zebra is the symbol of neuroendocine cancer, the disease that I’ve been living with for more than 11 years. Breast cancer has their pink ribbon, but ours is zebra striped.

    1. I had no idea about the zebra as a symbol of neuroendocrine cancer. How did that come to be the symbol?

  2. Great outfits. I have a love of ballet too. I started tap and ballet at agge 5 also. I wanted to go on and then took toe dancing.i loved it but developed bunions so that ended that.

    1. I think all my years in toe shoes contributed to my bunions.

I love the Frank and Eileen vibe but ouch! the prices! Have you found anything remotely comparable at a lower price point? I thought Eileen Fisher was a stretch, but F & E is really out of my budget.

    1. I have not but I will keep my eye out. Their rerlaxed California vive seems pretty unique to me but many of their basics could be found at lower prices.

  4. Thank you for this post. I’ve been trying to figure out how to look festive for upcoming holiday luncheons without dressing over the top. Thanks to this post, I now have a clue about how to pull it off with my existing wardrobe.

    1. Awesome!! A few accessories can make all the difference.

  5. My body shape was wrong for ballet as well. They took me out of toe shoes at ten and I switched to contemporary dance until 17. I was really hooked on dance after my mother took me to see Swan Lake by the Royal Canadian Ballet Company when I was quite young. It was magical. The Nutcracker is always a treasured treat during the holidays. Enjoy it! I wound up being a critical care nurse for 30 years but dance has helped me with posture and flexibility all my life. I no longer can do barre exercises but do many of the stretches still. I will be 80 in a few days. You look great in your chocolate brown dress with your vintage jewelry. It is great to see these pieces being worn so beautifully again.

    1. Have a Happy Birthday Sydney!! Ballet stretching has kept me going and flexible for a long time.

I love the black Murphy pants and tuxedo shirt on you. I ordered a pair in cement which are arriving today. I hope mine fit as well as yours because I’d like the black also. I’ve hesitated to order F&E pants because the rise isn’t high enough for me. I did get a pair of Jameson joggers in denim which I love.

    1. Please let me know how you like them. I have a long torso and find the rise long enough for me.

You look wonderful Jennifer l really love all Frank and Eileen and have many pieces on my Christmas list. Now on goes the Effie and the pants !! We are going to The Nutcracker too can’t wait! And l love your grandmother’s jewelry how special is that !! Have fun xo

    1. Thanks Francesca! The Effie is so comfy, I love it. I feel so blessed to have some of her pieces! Have fun at the Nutcracker!

  8. I have a thing for accessories……the purse and brooch I love (love the whole ensemble), very stylish.

    1. Accessories add the most fun for my outfits too!

  9. Your costume jewelry is amazing especially the earring / necklace set! What brand are the pointy black shoes?

    1. The shoes are quite a few years old by Ganni. There was a large bow at the back which I snipped off 🙂

  10. All the items look great but they are really expensive !!

    1. They are an investment for sure!
