Cool-Tone Colors for Fall at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the best times to see what trends will be popular for the fall. We often think of pumpkin, camel, and other warm shades as the only colors that represent fall, so I was very excited to see that cool-tone colors like blues and greys are making a big comeback this year. As much as I love a classy Camel blazer, I always look better in a blue one. Today, I’m sharing my latest cool-tone outfit from the sale, along with other cool-tone styles that are still in stock.

WIT & WISDOM STRAIGHT LEG JEANS size 8P / SAM EDELMAN PLATFORM SNEAKERS / SIMILAR SHOULDER BAG
As someone who personally looks best in cool-tone colors, I had a lot of fun putting this outfit together. It all started with this sleeveless rib sweater and open-front cardigan. I’ve been buying and wearing Halogen sweaters for many years. They’re a lovely quality and always available in great colors. This Vintage Indigo Blue caught my eye in this collection.
SIMILAR LEATHER CROSSBODY WITH SILVER CHAIN
This sleeveless sweater and long cardigan are pieces you can pair together like I did or can be worn separately as you transition into fall. All-over ribbing can be notoriously body-conscious, so I sized up to a medium to keep it from looking too snug. The cardigan fits perfectly in size S, so they both run true to size. If you’re not into blue, this combo also comes in ivory, warm brown, flint grey, and tan.
I decided to keep the cool-tone trend going and paired the outfit with silver accessories like these affordable earrings, my cable bracelet, and a pendant necklace. I was in the market for a black bag with silver trim, and apparenlty I was not alone because this Rebecca Minkoff sold out quickly. I found several similar bag here, here, and here. In years past, my options for silver hardware on a handbag was very limited so I’m thrilled to so many more this year.
MORE COOL-TONE COLOR ACCESSORIES
I love the blue sweater and cardigan paired with these Wit & Wisdom straight leg jeans. I typically transition to a deeper wash denim in the fall and was thrilled to find these ones in petite. They have a totally classic shape and a fabric blend with spandex, which makes them very comfy. This style also comes in several other washes but sizes are going fast, so get them while you can!
The finishing touch to the outfit is these platform sneakers in the color midnight. Platform sneakers continue to be super popular for fall and are a great way to add some height, especially if you’re petite like I am. The insole is very cushiony and something I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of! My husband took one look at these sneakers, and proclaimed them the perfect boating shoes!
This comfy outfit fits my lifestyle to a tee. It looks put together while still being casual enough to run errands, go shopping, or go out to a casual dinner. The pieces are all classic enough to mix and match into different outfits, which makes them very versatile. Cardigans are one of my favorite garments for the ‘shoulder seasons’ when you need to add and remove layers throughout the day.

Yes! As someone who favors mid range cool tones, I actually look forward to fall this year. A little over a year ago, a local boutique owner predicted silver was going to be a big trend. She was right!
