How to Wear White Jeans Now And Later

Admittedly, I live in a mild climate, but even if I didn’t, I would wear white jeans year-round. No white after labor day is a fashion rule I’ve long since abandoned. White jeans keep you as warm as blue or black denim and are just as neutral so why save them? I know there are folks who never wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day, but if you do, here’s how to wear white jeans now and later. There’s no need to allow great pieces to languish in your wardrobe between seasons because a great pair of white jeans is hard to find.

WEARING – $50 CASHMERE SWEATER IN NAVY / WHITE JEANS / SIMILAR SCARF / SIMILAR PEARL EARRINGS (EXACT PAIR HERE) / SLIP ON SNEAKERS / SHOULDER BAG

For mild spring days, a simple sweater with white jeans and slip-on sneakers is perfect. A fuller-leg jean style would allow for ankle socks, but I’m staying warm enough with these no-show Sheec socks. Here I added a scarf for a level of warmth and I love how it dresses up a simple outfit. I promise I don’t wear these sneakers every day, but it seems that way in pictures 🙂

WEARING – PUFFER COAT / CASHMERE SWEATER / SLIM WHITE ANKLE JEANS / ANKLE BOOTS / EYEGLASS FRAMES

For chilly spring days, a parka and booties do the trick. Opt for neutral-colored booties like taupe, pale gray, or camel for a lower contrast than black. I made the assumption that a pair of flats and a sweater would work on this day, but it turned out to be freezing! I was racing out to get a haircut (hence no earrings) and had to switch to ankle boots with a parka to stay warm.

WEARING – DENIM JACKET / HIGH-RISE WHITE JEANS / PRINT BLOUSE / SLIP-ON SNEAKERS / PEARL EARRINGS / SUNGLASSES / LIPSTICK IN ‘CONFIDENCE’

I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of off-white jeans that don’t cost a fortune and don’t have a warm undertone. I was thrilled to find this pair at a great price. These Madewell High-Rise Perfect Vintage jeans have a tapered leg, the perfect amount of stretch, and are totally opaque.

Animal print pairs beautifully with white jeans, no matter the shade. This animal print blouse is in shades of aqua and blue and is very lightweight. It’ll be fabulous when the temperatures heat up, but for now, it needs some extra coverage so this denim jacket works perfectly.

When the weather warms up, I pair mine with sandals and sneakers alike because nothing says summer like a great pair of white jeans.

Great have never thought of wearing white jeans all year round – will now

I just cannot seem to find a pair of white jeans that suits me. I’m not a particularly big person (size 6-8, 5’5) but I am more pear shaped and it seems to me that white just accentuates that. UGH! Wish I could find some I felt didn’t make me look so unbalanced. Anyone have a recommendation for a brand that is smaller in the waist, looser in the thigh, and doesn’t show that lovely cellulite that seems to have taken up residence??

    1. I would look into straight not slim-leg jeans. Buy to fit your widest part and have darts put in the waistband

  3. I pinned your post on at least six different Pinterest boards! Great ideas. Thank you.

  4. I worked in the dental field for over 40 years, and my “uniform” was always white jeans, a colored polo shirt, and white lab coat. (Well, after we ditched the white uniform dress!) You’d think I’d be tired of it, but I still love my white jeans. But, even though I live in SoCal, I can’t bring myself to wear them until Spring arrives. The same with white shoes. Funny how some of our childhood rules still influence us.

  5. $100 or more is beyond my budget. Here’s what I do: I live in Seattle and only wear white jeans July 1-Oct 15, otherwise they would be a muddy mess. I buy white Gloria Vanderbilts @ $30.00. They get baggy after 15 minutes of wear so take them to an alterations person to have them taken in @ $30.00. Voila, a $60 pair of jeans. Good color, long lasting.

  6. We live in a one season tropical climate and wear the same clothes 365 days of the year. White is our all around basic. We can’t tell one season from another.
I’d like to have some wardrobe changes to mark the different seasons. Which we don’t have. & Which I wish we did have. !!
I didn’t realize how tiresome sameness can be until I lived with it for several years! When our location changes, I may never wear white jeans in December again! 😄

    1. Perhaps you could change the colors with the seasons

I just ordered a pair of white jeans from QVC and cannot wait for them to arrive. That is one item that is really missing in my wardrobe and can’t wait to start wearing them right away.

    Love that blouse on you!

  8. If I lived in a warm climate, I would definitely wear white jeans year round. Here in Ontario, Canada, it just feels wrong to me in the colder months. When the snow is blowing and cold winds are the norm November to March, I just can’t do it. Maybe off white wool or corduroy would work for me.

    1. I live in Calgary Canada and with slush, dirty snow, etc. it’s impossible to keep light pants clean in the winter. I would wear white pants year round if I could.

  9. White jeans on me are a stain magnet.

I love that you wear those sneakers so often— it’s what most of us do. But could you give some examples of great less expensive slip ons?

    1. I know Target makes similar ones in black. I’ll have a look around for some others

  11. Yes, I wear white jeans year round. White and brights, white and neutrals and white and pastels…I love the look of white jeans. I think there is something so fresh about white jeans. Right now, I only have one pair of pure white jeans and one pair of off white jeans, but that’s all I need. I have always lived in SoCal and maybe that has influenced my love of white jeans.

  12. Thanks for all the great white jean outfits. I wear them all spring and summer. Now I’m going to rethink that and wear them year round!

  13. Thanks Jennifer for the great white jean outfit choices for all weather and seasons. I just purchased a pair of off-white jeans at JCP (Style & Co) looking for these babies for years.
Thanks again for the great info.
