Monday Musings: What I Wore Last Week
This Monday, I’m sharing a few outfits I wore last week. I style a lot of different looks on the blog, including some of the latest things in-store and available online. This post is intended to give you a sense of what I wear during the week. My week involved some travel, indoor and outdoor activities, and time spent with my family. As a result it was a lot of casual and comfortable outfits.

We took a ferry over to Vancouver Island for a few days and this is what I wore to travel. It was breezy and cool, and I found myself wishing for socks. I wore my Malibu Triple Fleece travel set in British navy over a denim shirt with comfy sneakers. I wear this set often because it’s easy, loose-fitting, and comfy for a travel day or running errands.

The next day, we awoke to rain, fog, and downright clammy weather. I wore my taupe corduroy pants with taupe suede booties and topped it with a cozy cashmere sweater.

We met my brothers for lunch and I realized I was underdressed for the temperature. It always feels colder to me when the weather is damp. Even in booties, I felt chilled, so I was very glad I’d thought to toss this black inner jacket into the back of the car. While I don’t love to break up the soft colors head to toe, this was a lifesaver.

The day we traveled back, I pulled out my cashmere PJ top to wear as a vest because it was still raining, and I needed the extra layer. This is my new Eileen Fisher blazer that I recently purchased and wore on my trip to Dallas. It is a ponte knit blazer, so it’s stretchy and cozy but can still elevate a casual pair of jeans.

I’ve gotten a ton of wear out of this sling bag over the last year, and I realize that the more active my life becomes, the more convenient my bag needs to be. Totes have become increasingly useful, as have crossbody and belt bags. This little bag quickly converts from a sling to a fanny pack (belt bag) with an adjustable strap that clicks securely into place. It has lots of zippers and inner pockets to hold all my essentials. It’s buttery soft leather, so it’s also as light as a feather.
All summer, my girl and I have been enjoying our weekend walks in the forest. Saturday was no exception. We wandered on our usual trails for about an hour. We actually found a lost dog on our walk and were happy to reunite it with its owner. I bought these Hokas during my trip to Finland this summer, and they’re super comfy on a longer walk.

Sunday was yoga and spending the day with my daughter. The weather was crisp and glorious. I wore my charcoal Vuori sweatshirt and joggers, Ecco sneakers, and my triple fleece cropped jacket. This summer I’ve been taking more yoga classes, leaning into the Vancouver lifestyle. I discovered a Yoga instructor who I really enjoy – he brings a very calm and encouraging energy to the class, which I need as a beginner.
I have a few more days in Vancouver before we’ll be heading back down to California. I’m excited to see and hug my son and grandchildren! It’s been a few months, and I expect I will be looking eye to eye with my older grandson, who is growing like a weed!
Did you like this post? Let me know if you would like to see more of a snapshot of what I wear during the week.

Yes, I like this post. Do you recommend the Vuori joggers? I have not tried them on but have looked at them on the Nordstrom site.
I love them! I have these and the blue ones. The fabric is incredublt soft. I’m not the type to wear tights to class so these are perfect.
LOVE IT! Great seeing options…. Helps when u have a closet full of clothes and seeing new ways to pull together! Thank you 😊
I love seeing your daily outfits. I love the Frank and Eileen but they’re so pricey, I’m hesitant to pull the trigger. 🥴
I’ve been to the PNW and my son lives in Seattle, so I’m familiar with the drizzly, grey days there. You certainly manage to look stylish even though the weather was not the best. Love the snapshot of your everyday-wear. Those EF cords looks so comfy. What size are you wearing?
I am wearng a small regular in the cords. They’re really soft and nice!
SO helpful to see your real-world outfits! I hope to see more posts like this.
You will!
Love this post! I like seeing what you wear in your own, life and how you pull together your outfits. It helps me in my own style journey.
This was a great post! I like how you showed the outfits for each day. Sometimes when you show individual pieces I cannot think of how to wear it. You look casual but put together. It’s always nice to have comfy clothing when traveling. We are going to Boston in 3 weeks and I always take easy and comfortable pants and tops. Nothing fussy! It is a stressful trip (long story) and not a vacation so I don’t ever feel like worrying about what I a wearing. Almost every time I take something slightly “fancy” it stays in the suitcase! You should do this type of post after every trip!
I’m sorry you’ve got this stressful one coming up. Those are no fun. I hope it goes off without a hitch.
Good morning Jennifer! I loved this post and seeing snapshots of what you wore during the week. You always look so well put together! I’m originally from Vancouver (the most beautiful city ever!) and have lived in Northern California for many years now, so it’s fun to read about your second home and lifestyle in Vancouver! It’s still quite warm here during the day, so be ready!
I agree with you about Vancouver! We love it here too. I guess it’ll feel like summer back in Ca 😉
Yes please – I love seeing what you actually wear.
Happy Monday! xo
Thank you for this post it fits in more with everyday life for me since retirement. Trying to dress casual everyday can sometimes be more challenging and especially if you want to incorporate comfort and style. I am going to go look at the Hoka sneakers.
They’re comfy!
I loved seeing how you style your daily life! I really appreciate the links to what you’re wearing so I can check the different pieces out. Keep posts like this coming!
I’m glad I could link most pieces. I’ll try to find similar items when I can’t.
Love this post! It has given me quite a few ideas. The casual look is really what I wear most. I love “sweater weather” but unfortunately here in Ontario it has been warm and very humid. Nice, but I’m ready for the change.
Humid is no fun when you want to wear sweaters!
Love seeing your outfits in real life! What size do you take in the Eileen blouse? I’m waiting for it to cool off enough to wear my travel set. I got the beautiful eggplant color from the Anniversary Sale!
I bet that eggplant is gorgeous. I bought a small and it’s plenty roomy.
I loved the post! Seeing what you wore was very helpful in showing how to pull an outfit together.
Jennifer, I love your style, so I appreciate seeing the outfits you put together and wear in real life. More please.
Will do!
Love this post – it is very nice to see “everyday” outfits.
I so enjoyed today’s post. I have a casual lifestyle myself so I am always interested in seeing how to dress comfortably but still look put together and stylish.
Yes I enjoyed this post. Love the casual look
This helps. I retired a year ago and my lifestyle has become much simpler; I have so many clothes that I am trying to repurpose or donate during my transition to a different life. My attire is becoming more like yours-casual, comfortable and sustainable. Thank you for sharing your reality.
I’m glad this is helpful. I’ll try to capture more of what I’m wearing.
Yes, do some more of the casual week outfits.
Thanks for this post. It’s very helpful. I don’t often wear a sweater over my shoulders as I will take a jacket instead. Your styling, though, is easier than carrying a jacket, and I have quite a few sweaters, so it makes sense. Do the Munro booties have much traction? After breaking my ankle a year ago, I’m still a little nervous about anything w/o treads or lug soles, but those booties are really attractive.
They have a grippy sole that feels very stable to me. I’ve been wearing them a lot because they’re so comfy.
I liked this post, as it shows real life. Often I find influencers present lovely items that don’t really fit my lifestyle, and your blog is much more relatable than most. That is why I always read it. Your style is practical, relatable, and polished. Thank you.
