Weekend Reading 06.07.25
Happy weekend, ladies. The weather is mild and sunny, and I’m enjoying it vicariously through the blinds. I’m an introvert and can happily stay inside for days at a time with no problem, but tell me I have to stay inside… and I go stir-crazy.

This is what I wore to bring our sailboat back from the boatyard the day before my photodynamic treatment this week. I’ve decided this raffia bucket hat will be my official boat hat this summer because it gives me great sun protection and has a chin strap that I can snug up to keep it from blowing off. It also has UPF 50+, plus it’s really cute. I had several women tell me how great this hat is, so you will be seeing me wearing it a lot this summer.
Crossed my radar
I was thrilled to start wearing the above cotton gauze shirt again. (mine was from Eileen Fisher last year, and I have coordinating pants). When the weather really warms up, cotton gauze is one of the easiest fabrics to wear. It breathes, keeps you cool, and unlike linen, never requires ironing. You can pay a lot or a little for cotton gauze, and it all looks similar.
This utility jacket looks like a great piece for the summer in white or navy.
This cotton gauze short-sleeve shirt will likely find its way to my wardrobe to wear over this sleeveless cotton gauze dress…in vintage cream or ocean blue. I wish this skirt came in other colors because I don’t need another black one.
I love, love, love these wide-leg gauze pants, and I would wear them with a more fitted tee like this. While scouring the sale section, I found this striped gauze dress that just screams relaxed to me. I picture it worn with unique raffia earrings, classic Jack Rogers sandals, and a great summery bag.
Eyelet is certainly having a moment this summer, and there are fabulous options everywhere. I prefer it in deeper colors this season, like this navy skirt or this navy eyelet bomber worn with crisp white or chambray.

Hi Jennifer. We have enjoyed The Diplomat with Kerry Russell. Also a Harlan Coban mystery called Fool Me Once. Bodyguard is good as well. All on Netflix.
I was very frustrated when I tried to see the Nordstrom items you were referring to in this post. Each time I clicked on the link, nordstrom wanted me to sign in! I’m traveling and don’t know my password. I didn’t want to set up a new password, I just wanted to look at the item.
Is Nordstrom now a members only store.?.
I do enjoy your blog just not happy with Nordstrom today.
That’s so strange! No they are not a member only store. I’m guessing if you’re out of the country it’s an IP issue or you may need to clear your cookies?
Speaking of easy on the eyes, you must get an apple tv free trial at least, so you can watch Your Friends & Neighbors, with Jon Hamm! Entertaining mystery with great writing and acting. It’s nice to find something that both of us enjoy. I also vote for Slow Horses and Dept Q. Both are excellent.
Wonderful, thanks!
We love “Somebody Feed Phil.” It’s delightful, funny, and educational. And Phil is just a hoot!
We just loved The Residence on Netflix. It’s a short mystery series reminiscent of Agatha Christie. It’s quirky, funny, and intriguing. The bird watching lady detective is unexpected—she’s a hoot!
Sounds fun. I love mysteries.
Watch series based on Harlen Coban novels. Great stories with a twist, keeps you guessing.
Hi Jennifer! My husband and I just watched a delightful movie on Netflix called “Thelma”. I love your outfits today! Thank you for your inspiration.
Thank you
Hi Jennifer, I know how hard it is to have to stay inside. But Netflix has some good shows. I’d recommend: Sirens (over the weekend in the Hampton’s the wealthy have major issues 5 episodes) , Nona’s, The Parisian Agency (follows a family that sells high end real estate in Paris, the homes and apartments are to die for) High Seas (a Spanish series set aboard a luxury cruise ship, murder, mystery it’s addictive set right after WW2, I believe there are at least 2 seasons) The Dig (n the late 1930s, wealthy landowner Edith Pretty hires amateur archaeologist Basil Brown to investigate the mounds on her property in England. He and his team discover a ship from the Dark Ages while digging up a burial ground.). Wishing you. a speedy recovery from your treatment.
Those sound fun!
I can’t wait for The Thursday Murder Club to be released in late August. Those books are such fun reads. Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan also star in it along with Sir Ben Kingsley!
