Merry Christmas and A Styling Gift

Merry Christmas to those of you who are celebrating! I hope you are spending yours with loved ones, making memories for the future. I want to thank you all for reading and being here. You generously share your wisdom and experience in the comment section which is a true gift – to me and to other readers. You’ve made this a supportive community of wise, kind women and I am so grateful.

I’d like to give 3 of my readers a styling gift. Simply leave a comment telling me what you’d like to see more of next year. I will choose at random and get in touch.

Thanks for making this blog what it is and have a Very Merry Christmas.

My special connection to you is I am a Canadian and I am drawn to the times you mention our wonderful country and your experiences here. I deeply admire that you bring out into the open concerns of older women like incontinence. There is always something in every blog I take away – besides your honesty, your compassion, and your sense of humour. I will be turning 75 in a few months, which boggles my mind. I am feeling a sense of loss of myself. Finances definitely are a part but the other important part is a huge loss of energy. As most of your readers are in their 60’s or younger, I am asking if you could perhaps provide some suggestions for us, dare I say it, older women.
Despair creeps in occasionally and I want and need to be alt to fight it.Hope you an help.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wisdom and caring. May 2019 be bright and sparkling with many wonderful memories for you and your family

    1. Thanks for sharing openly with us Jacie. I’ll drop you an email.

  2. Merry Christmas to you! Enjoy your blog a lot. Guess the only thing I’d love to see more of is clothing choices that cost a bit less for fixed income readers. Thanks!

  3. Jennifer, I enjoy the Dressing room diaries the most. I like to see what are current trends, not necessarily to rush out to buy all of them, but to make sure to stay current and not to slip into frumpiness! I would also enjoy more practical styles for older women in the “Would you wear this” feature to give me ideas on shopping my closet.
    Best wishes and thank you!

  4. Merry Christmas, Jennifer! I read your blog first thing every morning – it starts my day off on a positive note! I enjoy all your blogs, especially perhaps the ones that offer not just your fashion wisdom, but also a glimpse of your life wisdom: making time for family and interests, trying new adventures, the transition to a new home and lifestyle.

All the best to you in 2019.

  5. Merry Christmas Jennifer. I would like to see how to dress my chubby petite body. Since you are slender, maybe you could bring a brave heavier friend to dress as well? I have learned and tried many of your beauty routines. Thank you for encouraging me!

  6. Actually,I think you cover things of interest very well. Enjoy your blog so much….can’t tell you the number of clothing items I have purchased from your modeling and suggestions. Thanks for including where articles can be purchased, saves me so much searching time. Thank You.

  7. Jennifer, merry Christmas to you and your family. I am so glad that I stumbled across your blog. I look forward to seeing posts from you in my inbox each day. I have learned a lot from reading what you have to say. You always look so nice and stylish. You seem like such a genuinely nice person.
I think I would like to see more outfits which can be worn casually and also budget friendly options. Please continue to post about products that you’ve tried and liked or not liked.
I hope you and your family have a very happy new year.

  8. Merry Christmas Jennifer! I love your dressing room diaries and have headed out to find some of your picks. I certainly am not as confident as you are to take pictures to share, but like that it shows me things I don’t see in the mirror. I was mortified when I learned the pictures I have been taking were automatically flying up to the “cloud” and my husband and daughters saw my mistakes! I really was educated on the texture trick in your last post. It was new to me and made so much sense. I would like to see some cruise packing ideas since I take two a year and always over pack. I’m also a Glammie to 7 and attend a lot of school, soccer and swim events and need some ideas on looking casually smart and stylish!

    1. I hate when technology springs surprises like that on me;) Taking pictures of yourself is a great way to see yourself from a different perspective. Good for you. I definitely pack light for cruises and am planning to go on one this summer so will share what I pack.

  9. I enjoy all your posts particularly the style tips- what works and why it does.
I would love to see event-wear looks, like what to wear and how to wear it as mother-of -bride or groom, wedding guests for different times of day and venues, and what does business dress and business casual and cocktail dresss actually look like for those of us out of our 20’s and 30’s..
Also, travel tips and capsule wardrobes for the over 20’s group ????

  10. Merry Christmas! I love your blog and always look forward to reading it! I love dressing room diaries, especially your reasons for liking or not liking. I would like to see causal outfits with shoes and accessories as that’s how I usually dress. Ideas that are age appropriate and current are most helpful.

  11. I read several fashion blogs, but appreciate that yours hits on the issues behind the clothes: confidence, wanting to be noticed or blend in, comfort, purposeful choices, health and aging considerations, packing, weather, relationships and moving on. Yours is the little gift I give myself each day. So thank you for that. Happy Holidays!

  12. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and do enjoy that little guy!!! I have been following you for several years and have learned so much. I love how other readers give their tips and recommendations (such as the one from Marian above on a hair product); it’s great that you give us a platform for that! One thing I enjoy and would appreciate more of are posts on “budget-friendlier” clothing and makeup/skincare items. As so many of us are retired, I think that would be well-received! Thanks for all you do!

    1. Thank you, Jennifer. I had the best time with him. I will include budget-friendly options as often as I can. I agree, my readers are the best!

  13. Merry Christmas ???? I am loving your blog and have been following you for quite some time now. I enjoy the comments as well and agree with exploring some casual looks. I’d also like more traveling clothing options because I seem to over pack always! I’ve got a big high school reunion coming this summer and I’m already pondering the best looks for that without looking like I’ve tried too hard. I know I’ll find helpful tips and ideas from staying connected to this community you’ve established so thank you.

  14. Merry Christmas, Jennifer. I love your posts. The only things I would change would be to share some less expensive clothing items. Not cheap but middle priced. $80 or $90 for a sweater instead of $180. You have great ideas and I enjoy reading them. I agree with the readers who request some casual wear, “around the house” options. And please don’t tease us like today with your beautiful velvet top with no references! LOVE IT!

    1. The top was from last year and no longer available or I would have linked it for you. I’ll try to include a wider range of price options. Thanks for being here

  15. Merry Christmas! Maybe more of new combinations from things you’ve “shopped” from your closet? I love to come up with new combinations of things I have, maybe adding a new accessory or just an unexpected twist. Would love your take on that!

  16. Hello from Canada!

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog for a couple of years now. I love your dressing room diaries because of the exposure to what’s out there, and more importantly because of the detailed explanations on why something works or doesn’t. Keep up the great work!

  17. Merry Christmas to you and your family! I have enjoyed your postings especially your travel experiences! Please offer more fashions for those of us who are plus size as well as over 70- I realize you are not in either category but I would be interested in what advice you could offer. Thank you!

    1. Thanks Betty. Many of my readers are plus size and over 70 so I will try to include more ideas for you. Happy New Year

Merry Christmas! Love dressing room diaries. Don’t like “Would you wear it”. Do you get any subscriptions (Stitch Fix)? Any help on dressing on a budget would be appreciated. Happy new year!

    1. I do not get any subscriptions and know they are very popular. Do you belong?

I’d like to see more make up recommendations, and shoe selection for us > 60. Your topic selection has been so terrific, it’s been hard to think of what I would like to see more of! Thank you for brightening by days. I’ve put more attention on my clothes since becoming a “regular” of yours, and my whole life seems brighter because of it. Thanks! Merry Christmas!

    1. I am so happy to hear that Carol! A little extra attention really does boost our confidence. Happy New Year

Merry Christmas! I love the dressing room diaries.. Do you do any of the styling services (Stitch Fix)? I like your travel posts and would like to see your home stylings. I would like to see different ways to wear one piece. I really don’t like the “Would you wear it”. Hope you have a wonderful new year.
