Neutrals and I Need Your Help
Today I have an outfit that I love, plus I’d love to get your answers to a few questions. As much as I enjoy wearing color, neutrals have my heart. They’re timeless and easy to coordinate plus they’re less memorable than brighter colors which make them more versatile.
This faux suede moto jacket has been a best seller on AWSL for many months, with good reason. It comes in several flattering neutrals, it’s incredibly luxe and soft, and the price is amazing.

This fawn color coordinates with so many other colors. It feels as versatile as black…but a lot more flattering for many of us. It comes in sizes 00-18, I’m wearing a 6-8. Leather and faux moto jackets have a hard look to them, which I avoid, but this super soft, ultra-suede dials back the edginess because it lacks shine.

These are super-soft cords from Banana Republic which have a straight leg and high rise. I like the way the fuller leg helps add balance to my shape. I’m sure skinny pants will be back before we know it, but I’m not anxious to wear them anytime soon. How about you?

The surplice-wrap blouse has a shirt tail back you can wear out, or tuck in. It has a lightly draped front with a snap at the V which keeps it from gaping open, always a plus for me. The front is the perfect length to wear over your waistband which shows some waist definition but conceals your tummy. It comes in several patterns, regular and petite, sizes XXS-XXL. I am wearing a regular in small. The subtle lug sole combat style booties are from last year, similar here, and here, and here.
Now, here’s where I need your help-

Why do you follow my blog? What it is about A Well Styled Life that you enjoy most? How does it differ from other blogs you follow?
Several of you have mentioned that you’ve given up reading other blogs, but continue to read mine. Why? I am honored, but I have never asked why and I would love to know.
I would love to know your fashion and lifestyle goals and how I might help you achieve them.
Could you also please share what country you’re from.
Thank you for being here and helping to make this community what it is.

I agree with so many of the comments already posted. what especially stands out for me, is that you seem to care about your readers and focus on our needs, while many other bloggers seem more interested in representing the brands and the stores they like to shop. You write for us and I so appreciate that!
I enjoy the simplicity you portray. You are very realistic with your style. You are my go to blog also. I have given up several. Keep doing what you are doing so well!❤
Jennifer,
Sorry I am posting this late. I follow your blog because you are an inspiration for those of us who are embracing a mature, yet positive and well dressed lifestyle. I continue to work and enjoy my career, and the outfits, style tips, etc. you share reflect the more casual way we dress today, as a result of the times (and working from home all those months.)
I love your blog! I’m 65 and share your hair issues and have found your advice very helpful. I’d always struggled with blow drying my hair and usually would just give up and use hot rollers but your tips have been so helpful and my hair now looks more stylish. Your fashion tips are great and you feature attractive clothes and how to wear them in the most flattering way. The tone of your blog is always kind and your enthusiasm comes through, it’s fun to read what you have to say! Your blog is the only one I follow with the exception of a recipe blog. (USA)
I read your blog because your tone is encouraging, friendly, and enthusiastic, your suggestions are specific and mainstream, and I like the outfits you put together. I am not very stylish. In my late 50s, I had about given up. I found your blog and it’s making me feel more hopeful. Your advice is specific enough to be actionable but not so “out there” on the forward edge of fashion that I’d be afraid to try it. e.g., the blog post about wearing leggings in your 50s. I also like to see how you accessorize, which I rarely have ever done but I’m starting to learn how to do.
Late to the party, but here nonetheless. I am almost 72, live in Canada in a small bedroom community outside of Toronto. I am semi-retired, a garment sewer for over 60 years and fashion enthusiast. I used to follow Brenda Kinsel and was actually in the middle of a second on-line class on fashion with her when we tragically lost her. I still miss her and read her old blogs now and then. I follow you and Susan Blakley because of your constant pursuit of dressing well without going over-board on fads. I really like your dressing room diaries and your innovative beauty treatment reports that make me aware of what’s new out there. I have found a lot of the information you present very helpful to stay in touch with the changing products on the market. And like others have said, I love your genuine way of ‘talking’ to your audience. It feels like a chat with a friend.
I followed Tania first snd through her found you and Susan. Interestingly enough, my body is nothing like yours so I was lukewarm at first. However, I have purchased (and loved) several beauty products you recommended. Also I’ve bought things based on your dressing room diaries. I realized that even though I’m not built like you, you offer great advice. I look forward to your blogs!
I will stay with your blog because you introduce trends in a way that is reasonable. I like to be challenged to elevate my style without breaking the bank or looking like I am trying to hard. I’m always happy when you find something at Walmart that works with something you bought at A more expensive shop. I also have thin hair and I’m short so your suggestions are very applicable to me. Thank you for your work!
I read your blog because it is a blog. I’m not on Facebook, Instagram or Tik Tok, and not interested in joining them. I do on watch some You Tube Fashion videos, but that’s a sometime thing, were as blogs are a daily thing. I’m about your age, so appreciated that your figure is closer to mine than some 20 or 30 YO. But if I’m honest, often your styling often skews a little more traditional/conservative than what I’m interested in.
I’ve given up reading other blogs because there is always the product du jour every week. Certainly they couldn’t be using all this stuff! Also the overexposure issue with too many posts, guest posts and too much advertising.
I like your in store shopping trips and your sizing tips. Your blog is personal without overdoing it.
I love that you are humble and have Simple and elegant taste.
I also love that the clothes you choose don’t ever go out of style !
I get a lot of inspiration from your creativity and confidence !
your personal expression in how to dress 👗 is encouraging!

I read and follow your blog because you show classic /timeless clothing. There are too many blogs that are all about what is In/Out and although I like to be current being a slave to fashion is not my thing. Your pictures are always down to earth real and by that I mean if the wind blows a hair out of place you roll with it……and you smile (one blogger always tries for that cool sophisticated thing and she often looks like she is sucking lemons) As well as this you don’t get defensive if someone says they don’t like something….after all to each her own. Even when life throws you a curve ball you stay positive (I can think of one blogger where every post she is whining about something). Keep doing what you are doing!
I like the blog because you are down to earth, practical, funny and you know your own faults and flaws. You are not afraid to show yourself without makeup, I admire that. I also like that you love our beautiful Vancouver. So thank you for this wonderful blog keep them coming.

USA…I enjoy your blog because of your honesty & transparency. We all have “trouble spots” and I so appreciate that you don’t try to hide yours. You even give us tips and tricks for help with our own areas, plus styling inspiration. I enjoy your frustrations, because I certainly have my own. Your sense of humor tickles me, too. So there we are, friends, online!
All the best,

To answer your questions, first, I live in the US, Washington. I will be moving to Idaho soon.
I like your blog for the following reasons, you take very nice pictures of yourself, wearing lovely outfits. I like the outdoor shots, you must live in a very pretty area. Nicely landscaped, so I enjoy seeing it. I also like that you talk about different subjects, not just clothing, such as beauty products, health products, I.e. collagen. I have bought several containers so far. I like it, it helps my nails. Also the stuff for eyebrows is pretty good. I am on my second order. I think it works, may have to give it more time. I like your blog about glasses, lots of good info. Some stuff is a bust like the faux suede jacket, I sent both back, didn’t like the material and they didn’t fit. Some blouses you had featured in the past are very nice, I love them. I don’t like the mannequins you feature. Hope that helps you.
I follow your blog because your taste in clothing is similar to mine, and I find inspiration for clothing that I would actually buy and wear. Although I am a pear shape, we are the same age and height. You seem natural, practical, and approachable – a person you’d love to have as a friend! (It’s also great that you love to read!)
I like your style and voice and read your blog for both purchasing and styling ideas. I enjoy staying current with my style and adding new pieces each season, but I don’t love shopping in the stores or keeping up with all the latest trend news. It’s helpful to hear your styling thought process and see how things look on someone of about my age and height. The beautiful outfits you put together feel just right to me – not too young, too old, too dressy, or too “try-hard” – and I can picture myself wearing them in my real life. I enjoy the range of prices that you feature as I often tend to favor higher quality items now. I appreciate that even when you are focusing on a particular retailer or product, it never feels like a sales pitch. Your writing style feels honest and genuine, and I always think I’d enjoy sitting down for a chat with you! I’m from the US; thank you for the work you do.
It is interesting to see how you style things. You give me ideas on how to dress. You are down to earth and I feel like I know you. Thanks for sharing your ideas and thoughts.
I have followed you for years. I have looked at other fashion bloggers, some of whom you have collaborated with, but your style is closest to mine. You feature a wide range of clothes with different price points and I appreciate that.
I was never interested in fashion, wear very little makeup and accessories drive me crazy. You have given me many invaluable tips. I don’t post very often, and usually the “Would you wear it” outfits make me cringe, but I think I have become more open to new ideas, so thank you!
