Weekend Reading 06.27.26
It’s a rainy weekend here in Vancouver, which suits me just fine. Organizing, packing, and flying here always wears me out, so I have a stack of books waiting with my name on it. I got the biopsy results on my nose, and it shows no basal cell carcinoma, whew! I am so relieved. Thanks so much for all your positive comments last week.

This city is in full-on FIFA mania, with street closures everywhere. I’ve even caught myself watching a few games on TV, which is totally out of character because I don’t follow sports. They wrapped the Science World dome in 131 custom panels so it looks exactly like the Adidas Trionda, which is the official match ball of the tournament.
Bestsellers this week- what you loved the most:
- These Talbots Embroidered jeans were super popular this week. Talbots is always a bestseller with the AWSL community, so I’m happy to see that.
- These Thigh Society Anti-Chafing Short/Underwear are still selling like hotcakes. They’re one of the best ideas to come along in a long time, and the brand just keeps improving its products!
- These Frank & Eileen Wide Leg linen pants are also very popular this week. I wore mine yesterday, and the fabric is sooo comfy. You can see me wearing them lying on the couch in yesterday’s post 🙂 The hunter green color is marked down, so if that’s a shade you love, they’re a smart buy.
- My very comfy Naot sandals landed in a lot of your closets last week. Mine are so comfy, I am looking to add another color.
- This Tommy Bahama Rafia belt/shoulder bag is now in its third week as a bestseller here with AWSL readers. It’s a brilliant style for around-town wear or warm-weather holidays.
- My Quince Coton Gauze shirt is also very popular this week. The quality is terrific, and the price is amazing!!
- I hesitate to even mention these again, but my Josef Seibel Platforms have been a bestseller for 5 consecutive weeks. I wear mine constantly, so I’m glad you’re trying them.
Picks from the weekend sales:
Ruggable is having a flash 25% off sale, plus 10% on new arrivals. Some of the new patterns are so fun.
Margaux Shoes Archive Sale is a great one! I’ve been buying their shoes for many years. Their quality is outstanding, and they come in sizes 3.5-14, with narrow, medium, and wide widths. My favorite Pheobe Flat is included in the sale, as are my Demi Ballet Flats, which I own in three colors. This sale is worth a look…I’m scanning through it myself.
Chico’s Happy Summer sale is 40% off everything. The sleeve length of this Henley shirt is as flattering as it gets. This Burnout Tee is so cute in white. This Tribal necklace is so unique looking! It turns out their Zenergy collection has UPF 50 fabric, which is a win-win!
Tommy Bahama End of Season Sale is on, and you don’t want to miss it! I ordered my husband 4 pairs of these chino shorts. They look fabulous on, and his old ones were due to be replaced. This woman’s relaxed Chambray Shirt looks fantastic. More finds:

Nordstrom markdowns are plentiful as they get ready for the Anniversary Sale. These Caslon Linen pants are perfect for warm weather, at a fabulous price. This Folding Lighted Travel Mirror comes in several colors and looks really handy. And wow…my Frank and Eileen Derry Illusion pants, which I’m wearing today in black.

Never mind! I just posted a question about the Johnny Was kimono and didn’t realize I needed to click on the picture. Unfortunately, it’s all sold out. Check out the kimonos in OneHundredStars.com. It’s one of my favorite companies.
Fantastic news about your biopsy!
I’m thrilled with the news. I almost always link my clothes in the text below the picture. You’ll see it underlined and a deeper color text.
I live in a shopping desert. One of the stores I see here in Iowa when I get out of town to shop is J.Jill. I haven’t seen your posts say anything about clothes from there and just wonder if it’s worth my time to check the store out. Most often I shop at Talbots.
I really enjoy your newsletter and blog.
I haven’t been into a JJill in quite an awhile. They’re often very nice so I’ll head back in for a look.
Love J Jill clothes, nice fit, nice styles, and very nice fabric. Petites and larger sizer too!
Jennifer, thanks for giving us a great news. We can all breathe a sigh of relief. The FIFA soccer rage is here in Atlanta and my husband and son saw a game in Philadelphia. The ticket process was such a nightmare and very stressful. They did not provide the QR code until 1 1/2 hours before the game leaving many to wonder if they would ever get it.
The thigh society shorts are a game changer for summer dresses!
My daughter and husband just went to a game and said it was wild!
Good news about your biopsy!
Enjoy Vancouver.
Thank you
Such a relief to hear the good news about your nose! I’m sure you feel very thankful. Another shout out for the Thigh Society cooling shorts! I received my pair just before going to Hawaii and found them to be very helpful! I just ordered more!
I love those shorts!
You seem to need some real R&R after your big trip and worrying about your biopsy. So glad your biopsy came back negative. A cool weekend in Vancouver with some good books sounds therapeutic. Take your own advice and be kind to yourself this weekend.
Thank you Joy
Hi Jennifer. That’s great news about your biopsy! Regarding the Thigh Society shorts/underwear, I’d like to try a pair for wearing under summer dresses and skirts, which can sometimes be a bit see-through. I can’t decide which style to get…. I would likely wear them without underwear to reduce bulk, so probably an opaque style… wondering which style you would recommend I try? The Cooling may not be opaque enough to wear as underwear? Thank you and enjoy the excitement here in Vancouver!
They do have the cooling shorts in two levels of sheerness, but you may prefer the orginal with is opaque.
That is good news. Now, you can take a deep breath and relax.
Yes, the rain is welcome! We’ve had such a dry winter and spring. Fires are a great concern. We’re already on stage 2 water restrictions, probably going to stage 3 soon. This is the earliest I’ve ever seen it.
Enjoy whatever you get up to today whether reading, shopping, or forest bathing.
Thanks Joanna. I am so relieved!
I can’t thank you enough for the Thigh Society recommendation months ago. They are the best for more than skirts. I just got a notice that they are now selling the capri length as well in the cooling fabric. Just amazing.
You are a brave woman to fly into the city with that many visitors.
I saw the longer ones! Very smart brand. I’m so glad I found them.
Such great news! You must be so relieved.
Thank you! I burst into tears when I got the msg.
I’m very glad you got that checked out and the news was good.
A couple of days with a nose bandage is worth it to get the answer.
Absolutely!
